A great teacher of mine taught me to acknowledge and process what just happened, and then to ignore it like it didn’t happen. Not to live in denial, but to stay centered and stoic. Non-reaction is the best default for things like shit tests and when your house gets egged.

When people are able to ackowledge and process an experience, they can move on from them, but not ignore. And i don't see the point of ignoring it if you managed to process it. If you truly processed an experience, and learned from it, it will be still part of you, who you are, it just helps your future self to handle same or similar experiences. You carry this within you forever, and you should.

The 2 stoic tips you mentioned:
*Temperance -* “Be able to appreciate both extremes of the emotional spectrum”
*Courage -* “Always face yourself all the time, no matter what.”
Are definitely what helps me “master” my emotions, as well as regulating my nervous system. 👌🏾Excited to come across your channel! I absolutely love these topics & your perspectives, thanks for sharing. About to binge the rest of your videos now…😁 Lol

I can relate to this a shit ton. As a very sensitive person, I can immediately tell when an unnecessary emotion pops and trying to manage it is a challenge in it of itself. By watching this, this adds a bit of extra help. Some of the tips here is something I knew as a child but you helped shaped it better and brought on other clues for betterment than I expected.

Yo Jem Veda, I use your vids to do a self-study in this summer vacation. I am learning so much and becoming stronger every day with your vids. Like every phrase you say is good to remember so I write almost everything down 😂 I follow your channel since 2 weeks ago, I’ll support you with every new vid.
You are clearly an intelligent guy who knows the ins and outs of every topic, you know how to explain in a way that I can understand. You have a clear nice voice to listen too, your not doing to much which is nice. Good quotes, good edits, good everything. I think ur going to be a much popular channel soon. You have big potential no cap.
I’m 17 and I’m sharing what I’ve learned with my family because I just think it is so important to have that control over yourself. Also, my English got better, I learn a lot more words. My mom found this vid highly interesting, I recommend this channel to my siblings they like it aswell. I know this comment is long, but your really out there changing peoples lives! My appreciation is in this comment. Thank you 🙏 ❤

New subscriber here! 🙌🏼 I absolutely love how you provide the knowledge and wisdom in a precise and relatable way. I have learned SO much from your content and it has helped me in my spiritual journey. I used to be VERY attached to my feelings and identified with my emotions because I believed my emotions were MY reality. I have learned to acknowledge, validate, and detach from my emotions. I have realized that my emotions are very real, but they are NOT my reality. We SHARE emotions. The range and depth of emotions belong to all of us. We cannot claim an emotion as our own.

Dude, you are an invaluable resource for anyone on the journey of self-discovery/mastery. And I can't explain to you how much I hesitate to use the word mastery, at least in my case. It feels so unattainable. Even things that I already knew or "thought" I knew you help to internalize and digest in new and helpful ways. I wouldn't have near as much progress if it wasn't for you and your selfless wisdom sharing. In a past life you were most definitely a high priest / shaman/ alchemist etc. of the highest regard, of this I have no doubt. Many blessings 🙏✌️

How do you accept criticism? Like I see myself getting upset when someone corrects me. I don’t know why, I catch myself getting upset and I realize that they’re just wanting me to do better and/or helping me; but I can’t help but feel that way during the moment. It pisses me off, makes me upset with the person doing it but I don’t want to be like that anymore. I want to be better.

    • @ssc3360
      @ssc3360 10 місяців тому +1

It begins with understanding that you don't understand everything.
I've found myself opening up to criticism when I began to look at life like a timeline of constant learning, development and progression.
Perhaps it's an ego thing? I visualise ego in a way that it stiffens you up, you're rigid in thought - you have to drop that, easier said than done; you have to become fluid.
But there's one big thing in your comment, you realizing that it's a problem is the biggest step one can take.

There has got to be a way to incorporate the bad with temperance. Sure it's one thing if its a distanced topic like. A team losing. Tragedy far away.
But if it's personal like your parents constantly doing stuff that hits deep. Because they've been doing said annoying thing for decades and its like an nlp anchor reminder just forcing you into a negative state.
Lots of people just go no contact when drama gets that untenable. But temperance says you should be able to incorporate that and overcome the forced programming so you can see it as a challenge to grow from. As opposed to a inundating myasma that dominates prioritizing, awareness and the judgement of appropriate responses.
Even Bruce Lee would react when some people did that to him. Few people realize he was on tv episodes of sitcoms. And he grew up right as the cultural revolution started. So he got harassed and jumped and beaten based off his perceived income. But some people he couldnt keep his cool around.
Does that mean some things it might not even be worth trying to control it. Or just the level of challenge it would take. Because if its family or your parents. You can't avoid that.
"Can you do X when you have a chance". Asking when it's contextually the most arbitrary and difficult small task that destroys your plans and you can't see your plans because its like. Just get this over with. And you would also feel like I don't owe you anything. You owe me. And yet, respect your parents is a powerful virtue you'd hope one day gets applied to you.
This is just my observing tons of people in those kinds of stressed out situations. Is temperance possible or is it a recipe for a breakdown and burnout.

Social awareness is like a mystery to me. I just don't get it. I don't understand social cues and I don't know how to read a room. I don't even have the awareness of what others are doing when I enter a room. Been like this my entire life. I don't know if it's the head injury or what, but I don't understand what or why people do the things they do. Plus I never feel truly comfortable around people, there's always this sense of 'I need to get away from you now, you are stressing me out' and I think others feel this too.

Also, in my case I'm really really good at suppressing my emotions. So a lot of the time the emotions I feel dont exist in my body. I'm used to putting on disguises and feinting certain emotions to blend in. Been doing this for so long that I forgot what my actual genuine emotions are, or how to feel them. The whole body awareness thing people talk about just doesn't happen for me at all. My emotions only exist in my head. However I do experience tactile hallucinations, so I'm often itchy or feel like something is biting me or crawling on me, even though there's nothing there.

I've really started internalizing all of this over the past three years and while my life hasn't changed a bit, I sure have changed a ton.
I no longer get upset over things and should there be a time where stress accumulated i'll always know that it's my own doing and that blaming other people or circumstances is just me chasing my own tail.
If you take complete responsibility for your experience of life then you're in control.
As long as we blame, we are projecting responsibility away from ourselves and thus we've lost control.
I sometimes feel a bit alone now hahaha
