    Thank you for the fine details about what to watch for and the extra long alignment bolt trick is superb! running to TSC to get some soon, wish I had a dual disk to install, For now the stock replacement will have to suffice (stock power work truck 02 ho nv5600 dually 4x4)

    Im looking at doing mine soon with a g56 transmission. Do you prefer the valair or south bend? Pros and cons to either? Im staying under 550hp.

      I would never recommend a SB.

      When I did my Cummins swap, I installed a South Bend heavy duty single disk that was rated for 950ft lbs of torque. My engine is making 605ft lbs at the crank. So I figured I am well withing the rating. Although my truck is very heavy ( 1983 Chevy 1 ton 4x4 dually, big flatbed, dual tanks ect.)
      The clutch never slipped, and I drive pretty conservatively and don't tow a lot. But within 15,000 miles the center hub of the friction disk was TOAST. It began to make so much noise and there was so much clunking when on or off the accelerator I hated to drive it.
      I pulled the trans and sure enough all the damping springs were loose and about to fall out, and the disk was VERY loose on the input shaft. You could grab the splined portion of the disk and wobble it around by hand. The friction material still looked brand new though.
      I ordered the Valair organic dual disk and I'll be installing it this weekend. Just having both the clutches side by side I have to say that the Valair looks to be much much better quality than the South bend. Especially the spring hubs on the disks. The South bend almost looks comical next to the Valair.
      Really disappointed in the South bend especially considering the money I paid for it. I'll never buy another one. I would NOT recommend the South bend. Maybe their dual disks are better quality than their singles, but I would go with the Valair.

      @Bloodbain88 thanks for your input. I've been hearing exactly what you said a few times now. I'm going to go with the valair dual disk. Thanks a lot for your help.

    I put a kit like the one in the video on my 99 dodge 2500 and on my first trips I started to have problems with the first and reverse gears. I thought it was going to improve but it only got worse and so I had to have my transmission rebuilt believing that was the problem. problem but that wasn't it, I just continued with the same problem. Any ideas or suggestions that could be, your help would be appreciated thanks.

      99% of the time it's because the disc don't slide freely.

      @mudrunner1 Thanks for answering, I appreciate it, now I can continue driving it like this or does that mean I installed it wrong?

    • @mudrunner1
      @mudrunner1 8 місяців тому

      @@MTBLOVERS32 not necessarily installed wrong, but something was not checked. Like I said more than likely the disc are not sliding freely on the input shaft. Could be wear on an old shaft or sharp edges on a new shaft and disc. Could be just annoying, or if it's bad or gets worse it could eventually glaze the disc over.

    Hey got this same one. Having problems with the bottles not wanting to tighten, any ideas? It’s seems like cheap bolts and I can’t find any to replace them.

    Did you go with the ceramic plates for the clutch?

    • @mudrunner1
      @mudrunner1 8 місяців тому +1

      This one was organic. Unless you don't tow or just drive aggressive all the time there isn't really a reason to not get the organic.

    You cant simply swap the input shaft on an NV5600 just fyi. The entire transmission has to come apart to swap them. Otherwise great video 👍

    Dude, I've been trying to find wheels just like that. Where can I find those wheels? No I'm about to watch the video. Ha ha just had to ask that.

    Well if you do a duel disk you need a new shaft

    • @mudrunner1
      @mudrunner1 3 місяці тому

      That's not true. A dual disc does not require a new shaft. Even if you have an 1 1/4" shaft that's in good condition you can order the clutch with the smaller hubs.
      It is important that the shaft is in good condition no matter what size it is.

      Jesus $3500 for a clutch!? Or is that clutch installed with labor or did you do it yourself?

      Sorry to hear it. I just pulled out a South bend single disk with only 15k miles on it where the friction disk spring hub is destroyed. Horrible quality, junk. I sprang for a Valair DD and it's worlds different than the South bend. Wish I'd have known about this first time around.
