Anyone doing this for the first time like I just did today, I highly suggest letting the company that made your tune file rewrite your ECM for you. They had me install Anydesk on my laptop, and they were able to remote install my tunes for me. The tune software is the only part of this project that had me nervous 😅 Having them install it for me took all the worry away, and they are super nice too
@darkirondiesel yes I did, and it was extremely helpful. I would have completed it all using the video, but I was sent the wrong tuning software. They finally got the correct software for me, and since I had them on the phone, I asked them to install it for me. They did a couple extra steps I didn't see in your video. I assume it was due to hp tuners having done some updates to their own software. I really appreciate your videos, and I couldn't have done any of this without your videos.
@darkirondiesel although since I got your attention, I do have a question. Hopefully, you can answer. After my EGR delete, I have a code for fuel regulation range. I was curious if my 2017 should have that throttle body plug installed. Your video said to leave it unplugged. Any ideas where my issue is? Thanks... Update.. I plugged everything back in and have definitely narrowed my issue back to that throttle body plug you said in the video to leave unplugged. With it unplugged, I get a code of P0002, and with it plugged back in, I get a code of P0001. The P0001 says fuel volume control regulator circuit is open, and the P0002 says fuel volume regulator control circuit range/performance.. Do you have any idea if I need a can bus plug here? Thanks
That’s funny. I literally did the same exact thing today for mine! Called them, they literally did EVERYTHING for me software and tune-wise. Much easier. And thanks @darkirondiesel for these videos. Extremely helpful, and also saved me 3 extra grand for someone else to do it.

It really wasn't bad. The V-band clamps were the biggest pain in the ass under the hood.... That front canister on the exhaust was the biggest pain in the ass for the exhaust.... for me. But it was a fun job. Also, at 11:04, I just reused that hard coolant line for the coolant return from the turbo... It prevented me from having to buy more hose, and it gave it(in my opinion) a little cleaner look. Only issues, When I start the truck, I get a DEF fluid low message and have to clear it. It's only when I start it, and doesn't cause any issues other than I get the message. Also, really weird, my trailer light plugs haven't worked since I free'd my truck. Flashed stock tune back on truck just to be sure, but still no power at the plug. All fuses look good. IDK. Good video! It will definitely help a lot of people.
i had a fill def 100 miles till 185 max mph message l0l i had to play with the def plug on the driver frame. plugged it back in and filled it up and just had to play with it eventually i got it to stay off. i did the delete when the def tank was basically empty.
Easiest way for that close couple scr at the turbo to come out is pull the trans mount nuts from the crossmember and jack it up to push the engine forward.
OK, I just did my tuning and pipe today EGR tomorrow just to let everybody know that the locations of the coolant line that goes to the exhaust are different on the 2017 to 2019 same concept, but they’re not down low like that on newer models like in the video and answer anybody’s question removing that pipe and putting a new one in is not fun
When I deleted my 2023 l5p I just cut the scr in half. Aka the one on back of turbo. I didn’t remove the turbo. Took me 5 minutes to cut the scr out. To each their own. Also for the coolant return line on turbo to coolant tank I just used the metal hose that you threw away in the beginning and added a short piece of hose to the end to connect to the turbo. Looks a little cleaner and attached to the y bridge just like oem. But your way works also but have to buy a new hose.
Also good move using the oem fittings on the heater core lines. I used the aftermarket plastic ones that my kit came with. (Not diesel dudes kit) and I was towing and one of the heater core hoses blew off lost all my coolant in the mountains. So anyone doing this definitely reuse oem fittings.
Also I left alternator in the truck it’s totally up to whoever installing. It can be taken out or left in. Makes more room to work but is still doable to leave it in place.
@@darkirondiesel no problem that’s what it’s all about. I was hoping you did this video before I did my kit about a year and a half ago. I was waiting and waiting but never came. Hey. So if your L5P EGR stuff falls off and you're allergic to block off plates, what's a good aftermarket exhaust manifold and up pipe setup? If any..
