Nick Grimes I loved that moment as well. Superior Spider-man is very underrated run. A lot of people hate it because of Dan Slot. The art is fantastic and I just love Doc Ock's Character as Spider-man in that run. When Osborne realizes Spider-man is back by Peter telling a simple joke it was a great moment.
Peter: You know, life's not that bad right now. Sure, there were some bumps in the road, a few bad encounters, a few people lost along the way. But I bet the worst is behind me now. Kingpin: What up?
J Jonah Jameson’s character growth is incredibly satisfying to watch unfold. How does Bendis do so much right in Ultimate Spider-Man, but can’t seem to grasp Superman’s character? I digress - great Back Issues, ComicPop!
I actually disagree, not that Ultimate Jonah doesn't grow, but that 616 Jonah does as well. If you pay attention to current comics, Jonah is actually a supporter of Spider-Man now. Sure, it took him longer than the Ultimate version, but it still happened.
Bendis burned himself out with a massive workload and isn't as desperate to make a name for himself. Add to that him switching up his stylistic influence from Scorsese/ Tarantino to Gilmore Girls. Add to that him having some weird baggage about race where he has to rewrite his own history to sound like a civil rights martyr for including popular character Luke Cage in an Avengers line-up. Which I think stems from buying into the pseudo social science about kids needing same race role models, having to (adopted I think) black daughters, then looking at the characters he'd created in his first decade of popularity (Deena Pilgrim, Christian Walker, Quake, Geldof, The Night Nurse, Jessica Jones, Lucia Von Bardas, Maria Hill, The Collective) realizing they're all white with one exception that's not wholly original (he did recreate an originally Caucasian character into a non-white one with Ultimate Nick Fury) getting a massive dose of white guilt and overcompensating. Add to that getting promised a significant payday and respect and prominence as part of Marvels writing council for the films until that was disbanded. We're left with someone who's potentially demoralized in several ways professionally and personally and has been a workaholic for well over a decade. I'm not shocked there was a decline in his work. He should really take a break at some point to bounce back.
My ONLY issue (heh, puns) with this episode is that Sal missed the Cletus Cassidy reference when Pete is researching Black Cat's dad, but it's really blink you miss it, so I'm not super bothered by it.
Honestly, I had always thought that Ox was the ultimate universe Luke Cage, and that he would gain the unbreakable skin later on down the line and become an anti-hero. But nah. Also, this was an AMAZING, SPECTACULAR episode that was caught in the WEB OF my FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD UA-cam Recommended feed.
You know what, at first I thought back issues was my favorite way to consume comic arcs, then I heard Sal do his Wilson Fisk impression, now I know it is
Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite series you guys do, with anything Green Lantern as a close second. This episode was hilarious, and Sal’s Kingpin impersonation is the best!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sal, that was incredible channeling D'Onofrio from 1:05:25..!! LOL, but anyway, phones & tablets can handle being in water for up to half an hour, can't they..?
39:59 This moment is proof that Kingpin should have been the one to kill Spider-Man. He was the true antagonist to the series and Peter's greatest threat. Just hearing this dialogue from Sal makes me imagine the fight between the two on the front lawn of Peter's home. And it's an image that I would want to commission someone to draw and paint for my own room.
Sal and his impressions are amazing and the work you 4 do is so underappreciated. Well, at least from my perspective; one of a person with no following or importance in this technological age, akin to a person asking questions and neither understanding one another so immediately going to anger or aggression. Kindness is a rarity these days and while I don't have much ability, I do watch comic books online, and can give my opinion on you 4 humans who all seem to be a great addition to a world that I believe truly needs such. Thanks Sal, Ethan, Ben and Tiffany.
When I was a boy ….. the Ultimate comics line was announced with some unknown indie creator called Bendis. Was awhile before I was willing to accept it enough to give it a look with Ultimate X-Men number 11. Dipped out of Ultimate Spider-Man before this point, definitely piqued my interest for when I eventually revisit it.
I hate to be spammy but could you please do Mark waids Daredevil run....i feel you could talk about the improvements and similarities between him and other runs
God I’ve been waiting for you guys to come back to this! Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite spidey comic series of all time and I’ll never get tired of reading it!
Best one yet in my opinion. Came into comics knowing next to nothing about them your chanel helped get started just wanted to say thank you and keep up the good work you guys rock!
For someone like Bendis who likes to write Noir character and such, you would think he could write a good Punisher... How wrong you'd be. I think the only book where he wrote a good Punisher was Daredevil End of Days and that's it.
this whole series is honestly the best spider comic there is. it’s hilarious, it’s full of heart, and there are some really deep and dark moments as well. it’s everything a spider book should be
YEAAAAASSSS!!! More Ultimate Spider-Man!! Ultimate Back Issues should be an alternate version of Back Issues where you guys do the same back issues but edgier for 11 years and then just kill everyone in a tidal wave.
I loved this episode so much! I just had my wisdom teeth out yesterday so this is a great cure for how I’m feeling haha especially during the fight with Elektra and Black Cat I was rolling! Thanks for another awesome episode
Love this series and probably one of the funniest episodes you guys have done. Lmao I dont think you guys could go one Spidey story without making Peter look like a HUGE perv.
This is my new favorite episode of Back Issues. I remember reading these issues when they first came out, Bendis was in rare form back then. Seeing this brought back good memories and it was fun seeing y'all goof around so much during the episode. 😁
Sal doing the kingpin impression may be my new favorite back issues moment
Dylan Bimberg his voice gets me every-time
Better than his Morrison impression?
My favorite is Morrison and Moore
his Moore impression is hilarious
Spider-Man : Why does my life suck?
Marvel : You're Relatable .
Daredevil: Well why does *my* life suck?
Marvel: Corporate mandate, sorry.
@@SpiralSine6 Superman : My lifes going great.
Bendis : Hold my beer.
@@SpiralSine6 And is also very fun to write it that way.
David Salcedo
Batman: Why do I have to always end up alone and can't find a woman?
DC: Because you always have to be Broody and not happy.
Marvel: That's your real super power.
That Vincent kingpin impression was so freaking good
"When...What age do I hit where I give up all of my beliefs and values like you?"
*Mephisto:* _Seth Rogen laugh_ "We~ell..."
Emperor Salpatine, Salan Moore, and now Salson Fisk, his library or personalities grows
Grant MorriSal?
@@Shoub-kb9sk Grant MoriSal is also amazing
Don't forget Salant Morrison
Black Cat finding out that Peter is underage is still one of the funniest panels I’ve ever read
Same
Honorable mention to the moment Osborn faced Spider-Man for the nth time and realized that it’s real Spider-Man, not Otto.
The panel of his face is just perfect
Something we’ll sadly never get to see in the MCU, that would’ve been hilarious.
Did you kill that guy, Fisk?
When I was a boy....
Daredevil Season 1 in 11 words lol.
@@FatSnorlax IT'S MY CITY!
Ben Hramiak THIS CITY! THE CITY THAT *BIRTHED* ME!
I love the idea of Peter just sighing and just calmly snapping the guy's neck.
" Goddamn it, I guess this is happening now."
That Kingpin impression at the end is glorious.
Peter: You know, life's not that bad right now. Sure, there were some bumps in the road, a few bad encounters, a few people lost along the way. But I bet the worst is behind me now.
Kingpin: What up?
I just imagine Spider-man saying that in a dark alley, and kingpin's face just showing up behind him from the shadows with a giant creepy smile.
@@FirstNameLastName-fe2tu I wish was any good as an artist, because this image to be made real.

Id say he gets superman down solid. Its everything else thats the problem
First one of 2019? This is gonna be a beautiful year.
Yes.
My ONLY issue (heh, puns) with this episode is that Sal missed the Cletus Cassidy reference when Pete is researching Black Cat's dad, but it's really blink you miss it, so I'm not super bothered by it.
Every time... I am feeling down... I listen to Sal do his impression of Kingpin makes me laugh so hard!!! Man its so good!!! :D Thanks so much!
Oml Sal’s kingpin voice is the funniest thing I’ve heard all month
That was a surprisingly good Kingpin impression... Damn.
I think Ben should sit in the middle for all Black Cat episodes. He's the true expert there.
Salson Fisk
Tiffnessa
Ethansley
Benseye
Together they are the ComicPOP Crime Syndicate.
I was picturing Kingpin saying it, and then Sal made it a reality.

Love the kingpin impression
Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite series you guys do, with anything Green Lantern as a close second. This episode was hilarious, and Sal’s Kingpin impersonation is the best!
Omg sal, you need to do more kingpin stories but in that voice
“When I was a boy”
Sal, that was a genius D’nofrio impression
Somebody send Sal’s Kingpin impression to Vincent’s twitter.
Yes more Ultimate Spider-Man!!!
Sal: "I promise it wont be another 6 months"
Me: "Its been 6 months and there is still no new episode...."
Sal's impressions are ridiculously spot on.
1:00:02 What a very Matt Murdock thing to say.
Haven't watched it yet but I'm excited af. Your Ultimate episodes are some of the best on the channel, by far.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Why is there always a weird sex conversation during the spider man back issues
Jameson and his talked down to fetish lmao

It's Over 9000 Productions like a new "imprint" for this series. I dig that
Ultimate Spider-Man is so great, even better when you guys cover it
And on the ninth day Sal thought about what to record and said “eh why not, I’ll get the comments asking to do it anyway” AND SO IT WAS RECORDED
That vincent d'onofrio impression was better than it had any right to be.Bravo man. That’s good shit. 👍🏻
