We left Buffalo NY in 1996 and saw almost 200 inches of snow that last winter. The next winter I was at my new job in Raleigh NC and a few flakes of snow fell and everyone ran to the window. When they asked me why I wasn't excited, I told them I moved 750 miles south to never see that stuff again. Meanwhile, my husband was at work and heard one of his employees tell his wife on the phone, "My boss is from Buffalo. There's no way he's letting me go home for two inches of snow."
I’ve lived in northwest florida and southern Georgia my whole life. When I was younger I always wanted to live in a state that had hella snow. But I’ve gotten a little smarter as I’ve gotten older lol. I know now that that shit can be terrible. It destroys all kinds of stuff, it can kill you, it’s really destructive. It gets super, ridiculously hot down here. But I’d rather be in the heat then be literally stuck in my house with our kids and the heater not working and 5 feet of snow blocking the doors and windows lol. People up north got my respect. Maybe we got yalls respect to die to the heat..but yea
I went to college in upstate New York, where there is rarely a lack of snow. And people from all over the world attended this school. My freshman year I will never forget how some of the students from parts of the world that never see snow went running outside the first time it snowed. They were mesmerized by this white stuff falling from the sky. And to put a cherry on top of the whole scene, many of them never needed to put on a coat or a jacket in their native countries. So they found out quickly how necessary a nice warm coat was in the snow.
Hey Ryan, We have been in a snow drought for the last couple of winters and in dire need of some heavy snowfall here in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Folks that rely on well water had their wells drying up last summer. Some people dont realize how important snowpack is to regenerate the water table.
That's a myth that snow equals well water. Wells are regenerated mainly by the moisture in mud and silt which gathers over time due to fossils. Trees have survived for hundreds of years without rain or snow
surprised to see a fellow West Virginian here! I can definitely agree that this neck of the woods could use more snow. If not for water, then for the beautiful views of the snowy mountains.
Here in Texas, our "Y'ALL O-METER" generally measures a HUGE amount of sunshine on our back porch in the summers on a daily basis. We also have primarily TWO seasons in Texas...THIS summer and NEXT summer. Love your channel, Ryan.
As a 33 year old in the Mississippi delta my fist memory of snow was New Year’s Day of 2001. Old folks would say it snowed in Mississippi every 7 years. Kind of true. But after around 2015 it has been snowing just bout every year. Anywhere from snow flurries to about 6 inches one year. Even that historic winter freeze we had like 2 winters in a row.
WOW, nobody has said anything for 11 months. Well, almost middle of October 2024, I have to say " Ryan, ya hit the nail on the head in your winter forecast 2023" excellent! yes indeed, NW Idaho got a whopping COUPLE to 3 "snows" during winter 2023/24. GOOD JOB! keep that model you are using active and useable. your addition of "black/grey zone" was (in hindsight) fantastic. Best Praise my man! Rathdrum, ID
I used a Stratus rain gauge for collecting (and melting) snow. It's so much more relevant than 'a lot of fluffy dry tall snow' vs 'wet, short snow.' The amount of moisture is what matters, not strictly inches.
Snow!☃️❄️☃️💕💕💕💕I love snow! We live in No GA so we don’t get much.😢 Hopefully this year we will get snow! The woolly worms are black and the persimmons show spoons!!! 💕❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️💕
We had a mild winter in souther CT last year and it led to one of the worst rises in the tick population so I hope we have some decent snow storms this year
we barely even had a winter in my part of pa last year lol. like we got average snowfall but then SOMEHOW the temps were so high (40s and even a 50 in january, and 75 in february???? like wtf?) that the snow didnt do jack shit. i also hope we actually get show this year tbh
I live in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. My dogs wear Seresto collars that are changed religiously every six months (two months earlier than recommended). My smallest and oldest (12 year old shih tzu who doesn’t wander into the woods) contracted anaplasmosis and could have died if he wasn’t so well-attended and pampered. I am all for a really, really cold and snowy winter!
We still had about 4’ in early March and I hated the snow that just would not go away but I was thankful for it this summer as we still had water all summer. And once again I am not looking forward to shoveling snow. Or the cold
NW Wisconsin here. We had 8” of snow on Tuesday, but 10 miles to our north and south got nothing. I hope you’re right about us having much less snow this winter, Ryan. Last winter we had 100” of snow, and it didn’t melt until mid-May!
So happy to see Knoxville/East Tennessee is predicted to get more than average. We need it after the lack of snow last year. Love your content. Thank you
I'm in East Tn in the 'above average' area according to Ryan's estimate map. Well, guess I should stock up on the shelf-Milk, learn how to make bread and have candles on hand. Cause there ain't no way I'm gonna go anywhere near a grocery store during a snow rush.... the ice storm blizzard of '93 scarred me for life lol. I live on top of a hill and got a ride home by my boss, but he wasn't able to make it down the hill to my house. I was working at a grocery store at the time, and had a 40lb bag of dog food with me. I ended up taking some plastic bags putting the dog food on top and scooted myself down the hill. What's scary is that with all the damn yankees that recently moved to the area, they think they can drive in Southern snow when they are the ones that end up causing the most accidents.
I’ll never forget that huge snow storm in 2016 in Philadelphia because it was the same day I found out I was pregnant with my now 7 year old daughter who has never seen a snow storm like that in her lifetime. In fact we haven’t had any snow that covered the ground since she was 3 which is heartbreaking because she LOVES the snow and she still remembers how much fun she had playing in it. I would love to actually use my Y’all O Meter for the first time too 😂
I want snow again here in Pittsburgh like we used to! Every year we used to have snow for weeks! Now some days it’s warm and rainy in the winter the past few years. It’s very bewildering
Mother nature is a great indicator of how our winters are going to be.. like how fluffy the wooly worms are and the color of the deer in the fall (if their fur stay light or if their coat turns to a dark grey).
I hope you’re right, I’d love to see western side of West Virginia get a great deal more snow for once. Lately we’ve hardly seen it since the year a late hurricane brought over a foot. We’ve been lucky to average a couple inches since then and usually not until February or March
I’m 60 years old and have lived in Louisville KY all my life. Growing up I remember getting significant snowfall every year. Now it seems like we only get a little snow in February or March. I miss those snowy winters.
I know that your channel tends to focus on very active weather, but you do some general outlooks for seasonal weather. As a Canadian viewer I would really appreciate if you could do a little more coverage of what we may expect north of the border. I do really enjoy your show and continue to subscribe regardless of your lack or increased coverage. Thank you for all you do. You’re passion for all things weather has made your show enjoyable as well as educational😊
We had one of those decadal snows in Kingman, AZ - with some tight variations. 8" or so very heavy and wet with some frozen sleet at the base; I walked to work that day and 2 miles to the south it was up to about a foot of snow. I'd be happy if we didn't repeat that this year, but might end up so. They don't have snow removal stuff in our part of AZ.
So just another snowless, joyless winter for TN...We haven't had a normal winter in decades now. I was so hopeful for snow this year. Thanks el nino...
Dude I friggin love this channel!!! I’m in PA and I’m gonna be tuning in on the weekly for your reports!! Absolutely LOVE your live coverage of all the winter storms. Thank goodness for channels like yours, although yours is far and away the BEST! Thanks Ryan Hall…and ALL y’all! 🤠
Hey neighbor! I grew up in Pennsyltucky. I remember the blizzard of '96 well. We had an exchange student from Sweden that year. The look on her face when she found out we had to shovel our own snow was priceless.... 😂😂😂
Here in Lebanon right now in the farm fields. I’m excited to get my 600 horse power jeep out and play. I was a kid for the 93 and 96 blizzards but I remember it like yesterday. My dad made a huge snow slide both times with his snowblower and it was so cool. If we get pounded, I will be making my kids a snowblower slide 😂. We either have not had enough to play with or I just didn’t own a snowblower yet but I’m ready this year. Dog poo and all getting thrown on the pile 😆 good luck PA posse
I dont even bother looking at the usual weather anymore. Its so inaccurate and yet when I watch Ryans videos, even though Im up in Canada, I can usually tell with some degree of accuracy, what my area will experience. Thanks Ryan! You are absurdly good at this lol
@@TJB270 How? I don’t know how. You tell me. Will say rain then be sunny, will say sun then be a vicious storm. It’s never right. I had 2 different weather apps and the gov weather app and it was always WAY off. Farmers lost their hay cuz they cut when it said sun then it poured all week. Ryan’s videos have made a huge difference in accuracy and generally speaking farmers need accurate weather to get good crops etc. Ryan is so spot on, I’ve switched weather providers
@@maydayhomestead I will tell you. You & most of the general public don’t understand how forecasts work or know how to read weather apps (no offense) but you need some educating on that, so I will gladly explain! 1: They give percentages on chances of rain, so if it says partly cloudy with a 40 % chance of rain and if it does or doesn’t rain.. that doesn’t mean they were wrong. They are literally just giving you an idea. That doesn’t mean they were wrong, so let’s cut that way of thinking. Weather is impossible to predict. Only once & a blue moon will they be dead wrong, so saying that they’re always wrong is completely false. 2: Ryan is an internet weather man.. he isn’t telling you if it’s going to rain on a certain day in your town. If he did, you’d be saying the same thing about him, so quit comparing him to other meteorologists. He does different types of forecasts. That’s all I have to say, so I hope you learned something!
I just purchased a Y’all-O-Meter. I’ll measure my snow this year in the frozen tundra of Green Bay, WI. Thank you for all your team does to keep us informed!
Madison here! I would kill for a good blizzard with some accumulation instead of just whiteout wind like last year! I really want to be able to use my y’all-o-meter this year! 😅
Hey Ryan I live near Chicago and I just wanted to say that with picture evidence over the past 10 years we have gotten way more snow during El Niño winters than La Niña. A lot of people are saying we are going to have a warm winter with very little snow and I don’t know why. Lake Michigan is very warm right now and that brings us a lot more snow
I live in West Michigan near lake Michigan. When the lake is warm we are guaranteed to get a lot of lake effect snow. That reminds me I need to get my snow blower tuned up! 😅
Lake effect is generated when cold air masses move over warmer lake water. So if the average temp is warmer, that means the lakes are warmer and less covered in ice. That means when the temps do get below freezing theres FAR more open water and a far greater evap off the lake. Meaning that youll get less snow from the clipper storms thatll be more rain, but every time the temp drops below freezing the snow belts get nailed. And again, because the water is warmer, the lakes are exposed far later into the season meaning more chances to get that lake snow.
I don't think El Niño or La Niña matters where I live, lmao. I tried tracking them and the snowfall was like +100, -60, +80, -20 regardless. It actually alternated(for the most part) which was funny. So half of the El Niño's/La Niña's are very snowy and the other half is very dry. The years my region had above average snow is: 1995 - 273 1996 - 185 2000 - 244 2002 - 226 2003 - 254 2006 - 232 2007 - 181 2008 - 197 2010 - 247 2012 - 193 2014 - 188 Years with less than average snowfall: 1997 - 132 1998 - 144 1999 - 97 2001 - 99 2004 - 147 2005 - 140 2011 - 92 2015 - 106 2018 - 139 2019 - 104 2020 - 84 2021 - 115 2022 - 70
You and your crew do an amazing job. Glad to buy something to help out. I am not in the snow area, but on rare occasions we will get hit. I kinda have this feeling that this could be one of those years. Keep up the great work.
I'm one of those who loves all 4 seasons including the snow. I don't like driving in it but now that I'm retired I can enjoy the full beauty of it. We here in lower Michigan haven't had much snow in the past few years.
Those wooly worms had a big brown stripe in kansas this fall. I think that means more mild. Some elderly folks are saying we're due for an icecap winter. I hope not.
I’m in Northeast Missouri. Looks like we’re in the less than average range but I’m still wanting several feet of snow. I wanna be trapped in my house damn it!!! 😂
I live in Olathe Kansas so about 45 mins away from Kansas city Kansas. I hope we have more than a few inches that melt the next day. I got a new truck and some winter tires so...
I can tell you so far things have been interesting here in my area of Lubbock Texas. We’ve already had a freeze, which is extremely unusual for my area, we usually wont see our first freeze until late November at the earliest or mid December, we got one in Mid-October. So things are getting very interesting here.
So good to be back with you, Ryan. Live in Upper Bay area of The Chesapeake Bay. We are our own type of weather animal. Unless it posts over 50% for rain, I don't even pay attention. But my Nephew in Colorado, turned me into you a couple years ago. Brother, you ARE the shit!!!! I watch ALL Fall/Winter & can be prepared. Thank you for your honesty, by NOT forecasting too far ahead.
I actually follow the absolute best when it comes to diagnosing long term weather and their patterns based on cause and effect! Andy is a good dude. I miss is live shows and his heart actually.Do not take that away from him , you here me!
So excited you’re selling these products. I’ve taken the skywarn training 20 years ago, and would love to have a cheat sheet to determine wind speed with spring storms - like how it affects trees. Also, a rain meter. I’ll be watching for new products so I can get them and help support your work!! ❤love
Topography plays an important part. You can see it here as the Appalachian Mountains and also the Blue Ridge are in an entirely different zone than the rest of VA. In Northern VA, I saw many inches of snow year after year. However in Central VA, we hardly get snow. For example, the Richmond area tends to get snow in January, and generally not even an inch. When I lived in the Shenandoah area, snow was guaranteed.year after year, and often measured in feet. I've noticed a real fluctuation in temperatures over the last 20 years. I remember spending most of the last few Christmases in a tank and short sleeves. One year it was 90° Christmas day.
Thanks Ryan for sharing this informative video with us. Here in SC,we rarely get snow and when we do, it's usually a dusting and quickly disappears but we are long overdue for a big snowfall or a massive ice storm which we get ice more frequently than snow but I'm praying that we get snow this year. Thanks again Ryan 💞🤗💞🌟🌟🌟🙏🙏 You are the only weather person I trust plus Andy and the whole Y'all Squad Team Family. I don't even look at local weather or the weather station anymore!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
We had 9" of snow is Spring Lake, Mi, on the east shore of lake Michigan. I have a lot of family living on the southern coast of Lake Superior (Munising, Marquette). All weather forecasters are woefully low predicting their snowfall amounts. Lake Superior is a lake effect machine, causing 200" of snowfall most years. Same thing in Spring Lake. We easily get 20-50" more snow than Grand Rapids, which is only 30 miles inland, each year from lake-effect on Lake Michigan.
I'm an above average but casual weather follower from Chicago (moving to Tampa soon), but I have to say I'm happy channels like yours are so popular and growing. Good luck this Winter and thanks for the content.
I live in *Eastern Maryland* and we have been lacking so much snowfall for the past several years and it's been ridiculously disappointing and it frustrates me to death as a snow lover. But do you really think the mid Atlantic region will most likely make up for all of that and finally see much above average snowfall compared to several years ago? Because we are pretty much overdue. *FAR OVERDUE!*
I live in Richmond - same boat as you! With El Nino the probability is we will get one or two of the southern track storms curve north along the east coast and be very moisture laden and clash with cold air coming south along the mid Atlantic region. There will likely be a rain/snow line with heavy snow north and heavy rain south. I think we get lit up pretty good once or twice, lets just hope it is cold enough for snow. We will see!
@@lk29392I also do! In the last 4 years, I have only seen the snow actually fall ONCE. I was the only person in my yearbook who got one. Im hoping for a big snow, it has snowed super lightly once in 2020, (not even enough snow to fill a cup on our yard) and a decent amount in 2022 (1/8 an inch). I am also planning to go skiing with my family, so hopefully it is good :)
Last year, Duluth, MN got 11 and a half feet of snow. My neighborhood looked like the trenches of Stalingrad. We moved in April. Snowed twice the week we closed ending on April 28th.

Despite living in the 6-12 average snowfall (mid-northing NC) area, we haven't seen a proper snowfall since 2018, the day before Super Smash Bros Ultimate released. I think we've gotten a combined inch of snow over these past 4 years, and I'm really hoping your model is accurate, there's nothing better than standing out at the end of the driveway in the dark as the snow falls. The world is just so quiet and peaceful, and I really miss snow.
I live in the foothills of NC and I can remember it snowing (and icing) all the time when I was a kid. The older I got, the less snow we’ve seen around here. I love the peaceful atmosphere as well when it snows. Ive been hoping for a while that we’d see a huge snow storm.
It snowed 4 times in one winter? wow how DID you survive lol It snowed twice here last winter and both times the liquor store across the street was practically emptied the day before with the forecast. Even though it melted in a day. Thank god the town stocked up on provisions 😄
I hope we get a lot of snow here in Cleveland. I enjoy all 4 seasons, love driving in it but last year we had ZERO snow - just grey skies and cold rain nonstop. 🌧 That was no fun.
I'm north of Cleveland along the lake and we got a couple of inches before Halloween and I wondered if that was a precursor to this winter. Lol. Here's to hoping for some snow days!
We went through the ice storm in Texas a couple of years ago. Lesson learned. I did have antifreeze in a couple of My project cars and almost lost 2 new engines because they only had water in them. I was on the road working and was lucky I booked a Hotel early because the rates went up from $57 to $200-$285 a night ( that should be illegal). Pipes in n homes were bursting everywhere. Get the tool to shut off your water and learn how to do it. Trim trees to avoid ice build up and branches breaking. Save the wood for cooking on the grill. Stock up on blankets, sleeping bags. I have a snow blower and made crazy money with it clearing businesses, home walkways. Have the tools to clear snow and ice off your vehicle. Keep your gas tank full as possible and have sleeping bags, heavy clothing in case you get stuck. Buy an extra case of Top Ramen Everytime you go shopping. It can come in handy if you are stuck at home for extended periods.
I've been following you for about 3 months now. I live 3 hours south of Houghton which is one of the snow capitals of Michigan and you have me pegged in the yellow just on the outskirts of the dark yellow this year. I really hope you're right!!!
@RyanHallYall first off, i want to thank you for everything you do! All the forecasts, the storm chasing and helping others when they are in need from a destructive storm. My husband and i watch every video. We have learned a lot from your channel and understand that el nino is gonna play a major role in winter weather this year. We live in Lebanon, Tennessee. It has gotten a lot colder a lot sooner this year and know that we are expecting more ❄️. So mych so that we have taken our polaris ranger and polaris RZR and rigged them to plow snow. I mean, we go have fun in the snow with them anyways, why not be able to help people, have fun and make some money! So our heating and air conditioning business is growing from hvac and we do duct cleaning (dust had been HORRIBLE this year) now snow plowing. Plus we can work on units and get the snow out of our way to get to work on units. Help elderly people out who cant shovel snow, plow our whole neighborhood and help businesses. Theres not a abundance of people who snow plow in Tennessee. I am going to get a meter and when we do get snow, post it with the meter and snow plow ❤
I love your maps. Simple: Lots Of Snow! I’m in So California…cannot wait for waterfalls off the roof-El Nino Surfing! I’m concerned about more hillsides coming down, piers washing out, hydroplaning trucks all over Ventura Highway… Your warnings are spot on. I actually stay home and off the roads when you tell us! ❤️😎
This will be my second winter in the Smoky Mountains of E. TN. Got super cold but not much snow last year. Will be interesting to see what this year brings!
I'm a native of East Tn, my advice is this: Whenever you see the word 'snow' on the forecast or the weather person even starts to suggest 'snow' go ahead and get your supplies because I assure you, here in Knoxville, even when you do you'll be too late! 🤣🤣🤣
@@RealityofaSecondLife thanks. I’m used to snowy conditions, just don’t like them. Luckily I’m prepared to stay home for months if need be, here in the hills of the Smokys 😁
OK I’ve been in Georgia for 45 years and things are a changing! I don’t recall ever having such a hot summer, an elongated fall, straight into winter temperatures that would normally take place in January at the end of October. Put it this way. I’m just really grateful I’ve bought an extra heavy down coat. Looks like I’m gonna need it.
I hope what you are saying is true. 3rd winter here in NW MN and I'm ready for a mild winter. Even the people in this area are saying our winter will be mild. Will see what happens!
Since it seems Denver will be between the largely affected areas, would this mean to expect an average year? Also, with being between the two pressure zones, do you anticipate the storms to last longer on average?
I'm just a hair south of Nashville, Tennessee. We are always hit or miss, but typically February and early March could be ice storms and potentially tornados. Forcasts are usually inaccurate here.
This past winter, here in Minnesota, we ended up having the 3rd snowiest winter in the history of the state. I would love to see an extremely mild winter here after last year. My car's suspension still hasn't been fully figured out what is causing the sounds after just about all the components have been replaced.
Judging by the newest graphic, I’m sandwiched between the T and H in the blue in Oklahoma. To me, getting any snow is wishful thinking because the last time we had a freak snowstorm was about Groundhog Day 2021, and the last blizzard was the day Avatar (09) came out and it lasted a full day before stopping. I really do hope we get some snow and a white Christmas (🎶just like the ones I used to know🎶).
I’m a snow plow operator in central New York, I’m really hoping you’re right about that big daddy storm because we didn’t have any really good stuff to push last year and I wasn’t able to go on deployment to Buffalo this past winter, if it hits us I’ll be sure to listen to your steam as I fight the storm 👍
Last year he said it was going to be a very cold snowy winter and it was warmer than normal and with little snow. Don't believe everything he says he is wrong a lot
northern nj and new york city aint getting shit this year, just like the past 3 years. it will be maybe 10 inches total. come back to this comment around February
I'm convinced snow is a thing of the past here in the Philadelphia region. It's been since 2016 that we had a notable snowstorm, and each season has had less and less snow, and last winter had 0 inches of snow. Our climate has changed, and Philly is subtropical now.
The Cottonwood Canyons in Utah last year had 900 inches of snow. They are expecting about the same this year. Last year was a record year, as the Cottonwoods usually average 500 inches. We need the water, so I hope we get at least the average.
Thank you so much for your hard work of making these videos! I really enjoy having a reliable opinion about upcoming weather. I also know the production isn’t a snap of the fingers. Thanks for your consistently excellent work!
I love these outlook videos. They are soooo... informative, and accurate, and I can't wait for your official winter forecast. Keep up the great work, Ryan. 😀❤👍
Snow can be a real headache. But living in Northern MN I can tell you it's the wind that can make winter a bear. I seldom care about temperature but I do want to know how windy it will be.
Here in the U.P. of Michigan, Warmer winters that don't allow the Great Lakes to freeze. Typically produce far more lake effect storms with much higher than normal snow totals
Back in 2008 and 2018, us in SE Louisiana got real snow. It was wild for us because that literally never happens here. I live about 45 minutes north of New Orleans, so winters are usually mild, and wet. My older 2 kids were toddlers when it snowed in 2018, and every year since they have asked for snow on their Christmas lists. I keep hoping that we’ll get another fluke snow just so they can get their Christmas wishes🤍❄️☃️
Man Ryan your the best weather geek I've been subscribed for 2 or 3 years now and your just getting better and better and bigger great job RyanHallYall team
We moved to Johnson City, TN from Nebraska this summer and would love to have a big snow our first year here! Crossing my fingers for lots of snow in Appalachia!
Definitely a bummer to see the northern US and Southern Canada seeing far below average snow this year, especially with the wildfires in Canada and the Pacific Northwest, and the drought conditions along the upper Mississippi basin. Texas and Arizona will definitely benefit, however, but would love to see Utah and Colorado climb into the above average range for the Colorado River.
I live in Central Pa and we have not seen a good snowy winter in years. Last year we had one storm before Christmas and it was all gone by Christmas. Sucks.
As someone who used to live in Denver, but moved to the ArkLaTex where we get hardly any snow but rain by the gallon, I wish y’all would make a rain o’ meter for us to track rainfall during these storms. I know I can get a rain gauge from Tractor Supply, but I’d rather support y’all.
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN, after 21 years of shoveling, knocking snow off tree limbs, scraping windshields, driving in slippery snow with people who think 4-wheel-drive means 4-wheel-stop, and having to thaw out numb fingers and toes, I will loudly proclaim that I will GLADLY deal with these monstrous Texas thunderstorms and triple digit temperatures than even a single snowflake. These maps are always hilarious to me as I live on the northern coast of the Michigan UP, it’s just like “yep you’ll definitely get more than your all-time record low snowfall, like thanks lol
hi Ryan, I believe you. we had cold temperatures on October 31st - it got down to 24 degrees here in North Fayetteville, Arkansas. I live on the south side of lake Fayetteville. I've planned for colder weather this year. I've only been here in Fayetteville Arkansas for 2 years. I moved here from New Orleans and boy was it a change for me. I'm still getting used to the winters. I'll be measuring the snow for you here if you want. I was a beast last year, but I think it will be worse this year.
I live close to Dallas and I can tell by the wasp nest and the way the animals are acting and the way the air feels it’s going to be an interesting winter

Martinsburg?
Agree, praying y’all get a white winter
In Charleston here, we need a good one, too! Of course I say that mostly because I just love snow. 😂
Here in Texas, our "Y'ALL O-METER" generally measures a HUGE amount of sunshine on our back porch in the summers on a daily basis. We also have primarily TWO seasons in Texas...THIS summer and NEXT summer. Love your channel, Ryan.
We get cold in NE Texas. But my y’all meter measured about 1/8 last year 😂😂😂
In Colorado we have a meter ...no yall anywhere

🤣😂I say in Texas we have two seasons - HOT and COLD 🤪
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN who pissed in your wheaties?

OK, my browser finally refreshed correctly. my bad. last was 8 days ago. apologies to everyone.
I used a Stratus rain gauge for collecting (and melting) snow. It's so much more relevant than 'a lot of fluffy dry tall snow' vs 'wet, short snow.' The amount of moisture is what matters, not strictly inches.
so you're saying inches don't matter...? thank god
@@garl9998 not strictly. :)
If you lived somewhere it snows an inch or two every day you'd think differently, well maybe not every day but damn close to it.

Northern Ct here and yes, the ticks were horrible.
I thought it was temperature that caused so many ticks (it never got cold enough to kill them). Rather than snow amounts.

NW Wisconsin here. We had 8” of snow on Tuesday, but 10 miles to our north and south got nothing. I hope you’re right about us having much less snow this winter, Ryan. Last winter we had 100” of snow, and it didn’t melt until mid-May!
We had 9" on the 26th. Our local weather man thinks we are in for 70"+ of snow this winter and that's for north central North Dakota.

So bummed. Hoping for a colder winter in Tidewater, VA area, but so far same as years before. Beginning to think I am never going to see snow again 😢
I would love to actually use my Y’all O Meter for the first time too 😂
While it is beautiful coming down, it is very unpleasant when it starts to melt with filth. and muddy mess.
The stories of Erie, PA when they got 100 inches in like 2 days. Still just mind boggling.

We had one of those decadal snows in Kingman, AZ - with some tight variations. 8" or so very heavy and wet with some frozen sleet at the base; I walked to work that day and 2 miles to the south it was up to about a foot of snow.

But our packers are having a horrible season...how sad.

You weren't in tank tops last year at least. It was FREEZING cold at Christmas last year in the mid Atlantic. No snow though. Bah humbug.
Thanks Ryan for sharing this informative video with us.
Hard to snow when it doesn't even get below 32 degrees during daytime hours.

Oklahoman here too. If we get snow, I hope it’s not the powdery snow like we usually get because you can’t make shit with it lol
I totally remember the 09 blizzard! I’d never seen snow that high.
@@ReadJournalLove For the first time in my life I got what I wanted: snow ON Christmas 😎
I’m sure Syracuse will get plenty of snow
Last year he said it was going to be a very cold snowy winter and it was warmer than normal and with little snow. Don't believe everything he says he is wrong a lot
northern nj and new york city aint getting shit this year, just like the past 3 years. it will be maybe 10 inches total. come back to this comment around February
syracuse literally got maybe 5 inches last year. my brother goes to college there. they didnt get anything. same will be this year@@melsyr10
I live 50 miles west of Cleveland Ohio. Last year never shoveled snow. Still have the same bag of ice melt. Never used it.
Oh man, living on the east coast, I hope this year makes up for last year! Either way I’m exited! Thanks for the update Ryan!
I'm convinced snow is a thing of the past here in the Philadelphia region. It's been since 2016 that we had a notable snowstorm, and each season has had less and less snow, and last winter had 0 inches of snow. Our climate has changed, and Philly is subtropical now.
change is constant, the earth goes in cycles. it'll come around
You should be thankful snow is horrible
Ryan is the best.
@@Brolovespizza 💯 Nobody comes close to what Ryan and the Y'all Squad do.
I keep hoping that we’ll get another fluke snow just so they can get their Christmas wishes🤍❄️☃️
here in south carolina where we average an inch of snow (and perhaps 1/2 inch of ice) per year, it is hard to get excited about 20% more.
Thank you Ryan for all you do.
Keep up the good videos Ryan!
Yalllllllll...rain sucks
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN, after 21 years of shoveling, knocking snow off tree limbs, scraping windshields, driving in slippery snow with people who think 4-wheel-drive means 4-wheel-stop, and having to thaw out numb fingers and toes, I will loudly proclaim that I will GLADLY deal with these monstrous Texas thunderstorms and triple digit temperatures than even a single snowflake. Call me Heat Miser…
I love this channel, great forecasting and excellent weatherman. Glad you’re feeling better Ryan. You sound much clearer now.
Thanks for the update Ryan, it is sure going to be a chilly winter this year! Great video & update
I live close to Dallas and I can tell by the wasp nest and the way the animals are acting and the way the air feels it’s going to be an interesting winter
