iswara 24 tahun, pakai 0W-30 fully synthetic. Sangat memuaskan.Tak ada makan minyak enjin sebab semua rubber seals, valvce cover seal ditukar mengikut jadual servis.
In my personal experience refer to manufacture recommendation...kalau 5w30 kau pi tuang 10@15w- 30 mmg kereta kau jadi berat...kereta Myvi 2008 dah 250k km guna manufacturer recommendation tak de leaking Masih OK
My opinion, it depends on your millage and usage type. For hardcore use, thicker oil is better life span for the engine. Fuel consumption is depends on how heavy your foot. Bottom line, engine oil is the blood for engine.
thats really come to your oil pump rated for the weight of the oil . thicker oil will mean lessened flowrate and that would mean the oil dont reach fast as designed
Stick to your manufacturer-recommended rating for engine oil and you will never go wrong with it. That said newer cars are like 10 years to date most of them either used 5W20 or 0W20 and some like Toyotas are using 0W16. 0W30 or 5W40 are for performance sports cars or mostly Euro Cars on tracks racing.
Its up to the tolerance of your car engine. Always follow what engine oil the manufacturers ask you to fill up the car with. You are smart but the car's RnD team are smarter than you. Btw if you want high quality and relatively affordable engine oil please buy MIZU engine oil. I used Mizu's 0w-40 for my porsche and 0w-20 for my myvi. Jangan pandai2 tukar minyak ehhh brand lain takpe tapi mesti ikut spec yg diberikan. Btw if you have a car warranty it will definitely be void if you changed to a different viscosity of oil. Dont be like my friend which fked up his dads Rover HSE crankshaft because he pandai2 tukar minyak hitam.
I've never considered 0w-xx oil for my 2001 Perdana V6. Now watching this I'm really curious since it does kinda make sense to me. I just overhauled the engine very recently and still using the 20w50 mineral oil the workshop put in it. Has anyone tried putting 0W oils in your 20+ year old car? Any problems?
I don't think there's a 0W50 engine oil available in the market. The correct oil your Perdana V6 should be running is 5W40.. specifically meant for the 6A12 engine.
If your engine leaks oil, its because its gasket is worn, or your combustion chamber is burning the engine oil due to bad piston oil seal ring. Or just by design, mostly not the case on NA or non german vehicle. So, like you said if you completely overhauled the engine, every gasket replaced, piston ring in good shape, these thin engine oil should work for your car. If it still leaks, time to have a conversation with your mechanic.😆 0w engine oil should flow faster in cold start, which is good for engine protection. But you should follow the number on the back according to original specs for better protection to the engine when it is fully warmed up. That is more important than the first number actually.
have anyone here refer to the manual book on what the engine oil is suitable? there is always a chart showing temperature ranges and which oil grade to use. there is a plenty of choice in mine. from 0w20 to 20w50 and all in between. mitsubishi mirage 2014.
Does the Winter viscosity even matter in Msia? Coz our ambient temperature never gets anywhere near Winter conditions even at the top of Cameron Highlands. What really matters are the last 2 numbers. BTW... Paul Tan ppl will say whatever the hell Shell pays them to say. Journalism & advertising are the same nowadays.
Nope. I wouldn't put 0W. I have my own "studies" and research reading done. the W changes as the last number (which is the heat /temperature) increases. Hence, the right viscosity needs to be considered depending on the car you drive, and after all...if the factory filled it up with 5W or 10W or even 15W... there are also reasons to them.... they have more "studies" and data than you. Hence, use what the factory designated for your cars, it is the optimized viscosity for the engine for the local weather. Not this hobo running an ad for a company recommendation.
You should always use the exact viscosity in the car manual this is because the engine is a pressurised system. I have done a lot of research and i call bs on this advertisement. Damning evidence can be found on the scotty kilmer channel and the amsoil case study page. Using a thinner oil than stated will cause oil to blow past the piston rings.
Not 100% correct, 0w 5w 10w even 20w, doesnt effect in malaysia, no winter at all...2nd number play the rule, if the car running 20, you can use 0w-20 5w-20 or even 20w-20(if got)..and you might upgrade to 30 if start losing oil, can use 0w-30 5w-30 10w-30 or 30w-30 (if got)
You’re partially incorrect too. There’s a difference between 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, etc. The number before 'W' represents the sitting viscosity of the oil when it is not in use (I.e. in the oil pan or in the bottle) in a wide range of temperatures (I.e. between -20 to +30 deg). Using 5W30 as an example, it means the viscosity of the oil is SAE '5' between -20deg to +30deg, and the ‘W’ means the oil is suitable for winter use as well (i.e. won't freeze or jelly up). The number before determines the flow rate at cold starts, including our climate; not just winter. The viscosity number after W - SAE '30' means the weight/thickness is SAE '30' at normal engine operating temps (100+/-deg). The misunderstanding of the SAE numbers have led to confusion amongst owners, and some workshops. Low viscosity oils (
Technically you're correct. However, in real word application, the 0W oil does indeed flows a little faster in our Malaysia ambient temperature. It does makes a little difference but not very much.
Typically use what your manufacturer recommended and you're good to go. My new Honda recommended 0W20 so 0W20 it is. On my Old Honda, it uses 5W30 so I use 5W30. And my old Honda the engine still running well after 13years no repairs done on the engine except for Spark Plugs and ignition coil. Always follow what the recommended specifications from the manufacturer. Modern engines nowadays are on 0W-20. Like the ones in Mitsubishi Xpander.

I used it for my porsche 996 since my dad bought it new and it still runs like a dream.

thanks for the video, very insightful for a newbie like me 😁
0W for cars with auto stop-start engin.
I always use thinner oil such as 0w20 and 0w16 for my 2 litler diesel bmw . I have no problem and my milage gone up
