I love the Azura! Your embarkation experience was exactly the same as mine - flawless! I agree that there’s something special about the ship though it is dated for sure! On her again soon. Happy travels!
Looking forward to this series, booked Azura Canaries only a few days ago, roll on January! I too find the smaller/older ships have a certain charm about them, a delightful change to the mega ships (but I love the floating cities too, any cruising is good cruising!) 👋👋
I did this cruise in October 2022. Was a bargain but still a lovely ship and Canaries is always a lovely stress free cruise. Wouldn’t hesitate going again 😊
Thanks for episode 1 of the Azura series guys 😃 really looking forward to this one as we are booked on the Azura next July, flying to Malta. It's our 1st P&O cruise and we're really excited. Just finished binge watching your Arvia series. Looked fab but I think the smaller ships are best suited to us. Really appreciate the great content as usual. 🤗🤗 xx
Hey Guys, I was wondering how Azura was ageing. In 2014 she was already 10 years old I think and there were a few bumps and chips here and there. The only thing we were disappointed with was the shower curtains which stuck to you the moment you turned the shower on. That said, we had a wonderful cruise and we loved the party feel of her and her amazing crew. Pre-covid the cheese board was lovely and you could ask for the Stilton which the staff got 'out the back' and brought to the table. Not sure I'm patient enough to fly cruise, as Southampton is just 10 minutes away by taxi with no faff or worries about baggage. Sailaways still haven't returned to pre-pandemic (at least on Iona 2022) Cheers!
Thanks for watching! Azura isn’t doing to bad at all given her age. Yes she does feel I bit dated compared to ships like Arvia but that isn’t necessarily bad just different. We totally get the taxi convenience as we used to live in Netley.
I did this exact trip in December last year - I was so pleasantly surprised by what Azura delivered. I found it to be SUCH amazing value - the prices were absolutely insane for this ship over Winter last year!
We have been avoiding these vlogs as we had Azura coming up! (Just got off her yesterday 😢) very interesting to see your views and see how ours compare. So far, it already seems quite different!
Fantastic vlog. We are doing this itinerary at the beginning of December. We have never done Canaries but have been on Azura loads of times. She is our fav out of the P&O fleet. Looks fantastic… will be waiting for more vlogs 🎉
We have been on Azura couple of times and we like the ship I don't think last time we went on it the Glass House was on it must have been added since we last cruised. Well surprise surprise finished the day at the late night buffet I wish we could stay as slim as you two. We are off on Queen Victoria on Friday to Amsterdam for four nights, we have not been on since 2007 when it was new so interested to see what changes they have made since then will ley you know on the group page how it goes.
Great video guys. I think we probably disembarked the ship the day you got on as the carnival had just started on our last night (Fri 17/2)! The weather was a little mixed for us, we had a couple of rocky nights towards the end which was interesting (there's a couple of windy late night walk around videos on our channel if you fancy a look), but the couple of rainy periods made for some cracking rainbow pics for our IG 😉 Look forward to the next video 🛳
We are doing the 2 week cruise our first port is Gran Canaria. Have been to Lanzarote years ago, so may just catch the bus to P del C or P Blanca ( was sleepy way back then )!! Any thoughts on what we should do- Have been on Azura in the Caribbean, and like the ship ( Ventura too which is the same except for having the pool retractable roof ). Not keen on Britannia !!! no full Prom Deck.
I am thinking of booking the 14 night canaries cruise on Azura Jan or FEb,24. I have been to Tenerife several times. There are 3 days in total there on the 14 night cruise ; are they all treated as port days IE no talks etc on board and very limited daily activities, Stuart
Now that's top class service, watching you vids now feeling like I am in contact with a celeb. Do you mind if I ask a few questions really close too booking . Bit nervous
Certainly is nice to get a bit of sun. We didn’t do any P&O organised excursions this time. We have been to the Canaries a few times. Do you have anything you are interested in?
We love walking so we have 2 Hikes booked to the volcanos and a jeep trip. Nothing booked for Tenerife yet, was thinking about booking the retreat on the ship, did you do that ? If so was it worth the money ? Thanks for your reply.
We didn’t do retreat on this ship. It all depends how busy the ship is. Usually quieter on port days. Our advice would be go and ask to have a look around on Embarkation day and see if you think it’s of value to you.
Ha... So to be clear, you had 2 large cases, 2 carry-on bags, and backpacks? P&O/Jet 2 seems to have a generous luggage policy 😉. When you say 'luggage included' does that mean you did not pay for your checked bags on the plane? Looks like the weather was on your side on embarkation day - always exciting.
We just can’t travel light. We have tried. 🤣 Jet 2 are very generous but the flight is a charter so everyone on it is heading to the ship so no need to pay extra for checked luggage. Weather was great compared to what it had been the week before. How are you with luggage?
@@TomandDomTravel I have one dedicated checked bag specifically for extended international travel. I use a public transportation-friendly 70/30 split rolling trunk so my tuxedo/accessories are separated from my other items. I bring a small 21l backpack/tote as a carry-on/daypack with basic toiletries/electronics. Everything is double tagged to ensure I can track it en-route. The T&D Travel online school is a great resource. 😉
We were on this cruise from Malta a couple of weeks ago and had a balcony cabin booked....but we got an upgrade to extra large balcony cabin....which was was wonderful as the balcony was huge!!.....
Its been frustrating for our upcoming cruise that we havent been able to pre book the entertainment, while others have said a lot gets booked up by people who arrive the day before. I dislike the limbo they leave us in as I like planning at least some things other than just extra meals.
Yes the limbo is very annoying. However Aurora last week they were letting people walk in. We like planning it’s part of the experience. Have a fab cruise
The worst holiday and cruise ship we have ever been on. We even got most of our money back from p&o after we reported them to abta, backed up by the photos we took of how disgusting the ship was. Would never sail with p&o again.

Thank you so much! Yes we did 😃
Looks like a lovely ship x

Thank you for watching. Enjoy your next cruise.
Hey you guys🖐 I am starting to love P&O😂
We had a good time on this cruise

That is our thinking! We just love cruising 🚢

Think you are spot on there

Thank you so much! 😄 Exciting that you already have Azura booked. Arvia and Azura are certainly different and would probably suit different people

You are so right! Great price and nice to get some warm weather over winter. Hope Carnival is treating you good
We have been avoiding these vlogs as we had Azura coming up! (Just got off her yesterday 😢) very interesting to see your views and see how ours compare. So far, it already seems quite different!
Would be really interested to hear about your experience

Thank you 😊 we really enjoyed our time on Azura!
Ahh brining back memories of our 1st ever cruise. Great vlog thank you. ❤
Thank you for watching 😃
As 2010 feels like last week to me. AZURA still looks reasonably modern.
It is madness that it was 13 years ago 😫
Great video...very informative .
Thank you so much
Great video, really interesting to see what you got up to on day one! Can’t wait for the next one so we can relive the cruise all over again! 🥂🍹
Sorry in advance for the many times Tom gets your name wrong 😩
@@TomandDomTravel as long as it’s not in French we’ll let him off 😅
🤣

What you don’t see is the dieting that goes on between cruises 😂
Looking forward to hearing how you get on with QV, it’s a ship we hope to try.
I have been on that ship and loved it
Thats great! When did you cruise?
Ahhh the Azura first ship I cruised with.
Maybe dated but I prefer her layout and atrium to that of Arvia and Iona.
You are right. There are many things about Azura which we prefer to Arvia

@@TomandDomTravel That's great, many thanks - please excuse the amateur footage, must use the gimbal next time! 😉

Maybe a visit to Timanfaya National Park there is a restaurant there where they cook using the volcano?

cruise ; are they all treated as port days IE no talks etc on board and very limited daily activities, Stuart
There are still activities going on but are more limited from what we experienced.
Whats the movement on the ship like. Thinking of breaking our duck in Feb on a Canaries cruise
No problems with movement in the Canaries when doing a fly cruise. A cruise from Southampton to the Canaries however can be difficult
Now that's top class service, watching you vids now feeling like I am in contact with a celeb. Do you mind if I ask a few questions really close too booking . Bit nervous
No problem. Ask away
We are doing this fly cruise in December, did you manage to do any excursions ?
Nice to get abit of winter sun for a decent price.
Good review.
