I absolutely appreciate the honest reflection on how we think and what we do as watch collectors. I sold my entire collection except for one watch. I needed a reset. I look at buying and collecting watches differently. I don't need every watch. Taking a break for a year or two before I make any purchases.
6:37 damn right!! The Sub Date is all you need. Also consider the Seiko 5 SSK003K Automatic GMT on a nato strap as the perfect holiday watch. Mine is on a black, grey and blue “Bond” nato. It’s a Seiko, so it won’t drawn unwanted attention to you and your family abroad. If lost, it can be bought again very easily. No need to insure it. 100m WR. Savage lume and legibility. Tough as nails.
just travelled to Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome. My VC overseas chrono reverse panda was the one watch I selected for the trip. Loved it. Changeable strap options were nice also.
I love the way you keep the watch in frame, all the time. And I like the leisurely pace, especially when you list out things, and the list is long. Plus you love Apple watches too. Can it get any better?
Thanks for the comments on being desensitized! I have a few g shocks I’ll wear more often in the rotation so the 4 Rolex’s I have feel more special. I find myself doing the same (researching what to get next, trade two to get something nicer, etc.). I agree on the Tudor comments. Love the new white gmt, at a discount…Appreciate your videos. And I never saw Freddie Mercury resemblance! Ha you are a more athletic/buffed version without the large teeth. Enjoy your holiday mate!

Switching between an Apple Watch and my BLNR has really suppressed the watch buying urge. I don’t burn myself out from the gmt and it always feels special.
What about your SD4K? Have you sold it too? I still think it’s the best and most complete Rolex especially in the dive watch and/or sports model range.
I think it is a white gold yachtmaster 42 on oysterflex :) You have said it once i belive, that you would like to have full gold watch, but just not now. And you really liked bluesy, but it was a bit o blingy because of yellow gold and vlue dial so you didnt wore it much. White gold yachtmaster is blingy because its shiny, but it also is white gold so looking almost like steel plus its on rubber strap, so its stealth wealth and just the right amouth of „blinginess“ :)
Michael, I don’t watch often but I’m hoping you purchased an Oysterflex Yachtmaster. You mentioned how much you wanted to own one and I have the 37mm in rose gold on the Oysterflex. It’s such a comfortable watch and I think you’ll love it. I think you’ll love the Yachtmaster

Completely agree, I’ve stopped wearing my watches all the time and when you do wear something like a sub you realize how great of a watch it is. We’re all a bit nuts in the watch world, but you’ve got to enjoy life.
I have always avoided Tudors for some reason. However this new Tudor coke version in the flesh is quite beautiful, sporty, elegant with touches of color! On top and as you indeed said, I wouldn't have either any worries traveling anywhere with it on my wrist. That or my Omega PO 42mm. Being worry free for me it's a super added value!
I really enjoy the hunt and can easily waste an hour or two searching. I’m still looking for an unpolished 14060 from 97 or 98 with a full set. Not easy! A small tip to make you fall in love with your watch again is to put the watch back in its box with all the papers and stuff that it came with. Leave it a few weeks before taking it out
I wear my smooth blue dial 41 DJ about 4-5 days per week other 2 days my root beer gets worn. I feel naked without a good watch on my wrist. I have 3 other rolex watches which get rarely worn, hopefully in the not too distant future they will stop depreciating. Looking forward to seeing your new rolex am thinking maybe a 2 tone sea dweller or a James Cameron I think they both would look good on you.
Loved the dopamine addict analogy. It makes a lot of sense. Rolex is NOT in the watch business, they are in the DRUG business. We get hooked. And the Apple Watch is our methadone!
I recently sold the Apple Watch Ultra 2 specifically because of the radiation. It affected my sleep for the worse and there is absolutely no doubt that amount of Bluetooth and battery radiation is healthy strapped to the body that much. Returned after 6 days.
I own the SD43 but have been tempted to add the Sub41 Date. The SD43 is my preferred watch but I can't get a comfortable fit because of the thickness of the case back. Should I trade it in for the SD41 and add $3k?
