Jimmy is like a monk - silent, observant, patient, all knowing, contemplative. And playful, stubborn too. Heard him bark once! Lastly, zoomies at 9:30PM after that hectic a day is insane energy!
Oh the Shiba stare when they need to "go"!!! I must share this. My Shiba loved to retrieve baseballs that were completely hidden in the deep brush at the Little League fields. You could not see these baseballs, but she smelled the leather! One year I kept count. Just over 120!!! I hope she is finding them in heaven. 😢❤❤❤❤
It’s true that Shiba Inus never have an accident in the house. My Abby was always well trained. Even when she couldn’t walk well, she would never pee in the house. Love that dog. I had to put her down but I miss her every day.
It helps to wrap the lead around your legs & keep the leash right at your side. When they pull, change direction briefly & praise them when they follow you. 🙋🐺
the indecisiveness of jimmy when picking which side of the road to walk on is just like my yuki.. sometimes he even sits down in the middle of the road!
aw lol jimmy seems to tolerate being pet while he's in a sleepy mode really well - mine will jump and leave or tell you off if you pet her back while shes sleeping lol so i just leave her be - jimmy is such a good boy
Jimmy is absolutely adorable. I have a Shiba mix. I never put it together (not having a lot of experience with Shibas) but once I realized it, it was pretty obvious. Scarlett is mixed with something that makes her larger and her ears are not pointy, but she's got the Shiba coat and Shiba behaviors. I've come to love the Shiba personality through her. My next dog will likely be a full Shiba, though I hope that is many years from now.
Are these good for a first time owner? Ive alot of experience with cats but i know this will be more eork for sure. I work full time but i can afford a dog walker when im away or else was hoping he could come with me in the car and chill at work as it is by a forest but there is loud machinery
Would you guys mind making a video on how you got Jimmy to walk off leash? My Shiba Mochi runs away from me if get too close to her even at the dog park. Not to mention she's gotten away a couple of time and it was a nightmare.

My Alfie used to do the same thing… catch me if you can! I put a 2 metre rope lead on him and let him off to run at the park. At least that way I could get close enough to grab the lead before he would back off. After a few months he stopped playing this game of backing off; he doesn’t like to lose 😂 These days I still keep the lead on him when he’s running free but he doesn’t run off anymore.
Jimmy (spelling? sorry) - is looking for stronger leadership (yeah too many Caesar episodes) - he obviously loves the walks but seems to not be as thrilled about having to make decisions re where to go, which way now left or right and is it time to go,home yet? . BTW that lunch looked great.

huh first walk at 11am? we have to go between 8am-9am, so basically the first thing at the mornin. And for context our shiba had the last walk at 10-11pm, before the sleep.
He some days won’t leave bed till noon lol. I realized his schedule changed now that I have been working from home. He used to need to be out early in the morning when I need to be in office.
Me too, my boy and girl both were runners. Scared me so much, and being runners they both always got into the street and ran, cars and trucks be damned! I miss them both, he got bloat and had to be put down at nine, she made it to seventeen. I miss them….
You can’t cook turkey neck or else the bones in it would shatter and hurt the dog. Raw bones are the only safe bones for dogs. Raw meat often times is better for dogs over cooked meat.

They are raw. The raw turkey necks are just a little supplement/snacks for him. It is not meant to replace a full meal.
