Rocky! Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the name I came up with for him! I'm going to go send the shelter some dog toys in honor of Makoto, and all the good boys and girls that need them.
Veterinarian here. If you can tell what company made the microchip they may be able to tell you what hospital they sold that chip to. The hospital should be able to run a search on the chip number and find the owner.
Thank you for this! I hope everyone has their vet check their dog's chip to make sure all the info is up to date. I know I'm going to after seeing this video!
It always breaks my heart when I see a Shiba taken in. I adore the breed, but I'm all too conscious about how peculiar they can be. They're definitely a lot more wild than most other dogs, with high prey drive and a never back down attitude in many of them. They bond very closely to their chosen people, and they don't fair as well being rehomed as many other breeds. I hope they find his owner.
I adopted a Sheba Inu that had been returned to the shelter three times because he was so traumatized and strong willed. He’s an amazing dog and the highlight of the neighborhood. Everyone loves him and he is gentle with every person and animal that comes by. He does require three-five mile walks a day but I’ve turned it all into walking meditation. Please adopt, even the hard ones.
I just adopted a 3 year old Golden, unfortunately he was abused as a puppy. He’s very aggressive and I don’t how to handle him. I feel horrible having to give him up😩😩😩😩😩
Wow! God bless you! Adopted a dog and stuck with his walking needs; good job 👍. Maybe he might like agility training? Just a thought. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Btw, my Shiba had a skin condition when there was an overall life change in our family (divorce, selling of house sadly). Stressed her out big time. With vet care, change of diet, topical treatments, and lots of love her skin returned to normal. Shibas are very intuitive and sensitive!
I just sent a large Amazon order to the shelter containing big and small toys (both plushie and chewy) as well as blankets. But it won't arrive until the 28th. All animals need comfort and some fun while in an unknown and potentially scary place (even though this facility looks fantastic). Since I can't sit and play with them like Rocky does (thank you Rocky!) I wanted to do what I could for them to help them while they are there.
Thanks! In memory of me dear friend, Donna and all her wonderful canine friends, especially her Shiba Inu, Kai, who preceded her to the next life by just a few weeks. He was, I'm sure, waiting for her when she transitioned.
He's got a wound. Okay. So he sees the vet. Odd about the micro chip. Read the comments from the vet here in comments. My guess is the owner doesn't care. Someone will adopt him. Perfect size, he's adorable.
Our Shiba made me a lifelong lover of them! I would LOVE to have another one. Such smart and adorable dogs. We had ours for about 14 years, she was just amazing. She would insist on smelling every flower that was her level, she absolutely LOVED children and while we were on our daily walks she would cry if I didn't let her kiss every child we saw. The first time she saw snow she figured out how to make snowballs! She hated water and would alert every dog in the neighborhood when I gave her baths. One of her favorite games was when we hid something and then let her smell a piece of it and she would go find it. For instance, I could hide one of the kids' socks and she would find its mate. So much personality in a small dog, I loved her ever so much.
Shiba's are their own species, I swear. I adopted one who had been returned to the breeder and whose second home didn't work out either. They have a very feral side to them but they are wonderful dogs. NOT the dog for a first timer, but if you have patience and love, what a treat! My boy lived to be about fifteen. Never had a dog like him before or since..Those eyes..those soft soft ears, that clean Shiba smell, the tik tok tail, I'm in love with this little tan man from Japan! A word of caution..NEVER let them off lead. They do not come back, ever and they will mock you from a great distance. This guy got off lead or out of the yard and here he is.
Yeah I was thinking that.. he seems very well trained and friendly so has obviously been a well loved pet.. probably escaped the yard or out the front door and wandered for a while before being picked up. I hope the owners find him in time.
My shibas initially tried to dig under the fence. Perhaps this cutie’s injury is from that “escape” scenario. My 3 tried to dig frequently, but a combo of rocks on the ground/fence bottom AND sriracha sauce applied to the bottom of the fence and the rocks stopped that. They hated the smell of sriracha and learned to not dig very quickly. Sadly that didn’t discourage a skunk 🦨 from digging under the fence while my Scoutie (my little huntress) stood patiently on her side of the fence, grabbing the skunk as it entered my yard. Days of bathing that 🐕
Yeah they require lots of attention I heard, this is why I get all the info I can on breeds before taking decisions. (obviously this should be applied to all sorts of area of life....) Like people who wants raccoons just because they find them cute.... make your reasearch, a lot of people change their mind after 5 minutes. (Also, they arent meant to be kept, period.)
Shiba are probably the most difficult dog to own. My daughter has one and he’s awesome but yes if they escape they are almost impossible to catch. And they are like cats very independent. Definitely a one person dog and that person better be prepared to go to school and get the dog trained as much as possible. They can suffer neurosis’s if neglected and can be very particular.
I believe a reason Shibas have a reputation of not coming back is that they so seldom are allowed to exercise their intense prey drive. I live in very rural east Africa and often unleash my Shiba. He comes back when he is done hunting. Sometimes with a gift he has killed. I would never unleash him in an urban or even suburban area.
We had adopted a tricolored shiba from our local shelter when our children were young and had her for 15 years before she crossed the rainbow bridge..we loved her, our 3 boys adored her, she would guard me whenever I napped. She was 8 months old when we got her. She was food aggressive with other dogs and a typical shiba that picked her dog friends very carefully..she loved to perch atop our patio table on our lanai and the top of our couch like a cat crossing her paws to watch birds and squirrels.I miss my 'Toostie'. This red shiba boy is beautiful.
How incredible that he exposed his injury. Like he was thinking "yes! I'm a good boy, so please take care of me!" I think he was a little scared when you left because he was so vulnerable. What a sensitive little soul.
He has a family somewhere. He got out. He looks healthy other than the sore. He shakes, takes treats, and is affectionate. What a sweetheart. He will get all fixed up. ❤️
The way he reacted immediately when you first said "You're a good boy!" tells me he was familiar with that phrase. He's had a loving family somewhere along the line. I'm hoping his familiar is desperately looking for him.
Was owned by a shiba for 15 wonderful years. Super smart, super sweet, playful, gentle and absolutely adorable. People need to be well informed before taking any dog into their home. It would help reduce these situations. Shibas are quite emotional and the trauma can stick with them. They dont forget.
@@madonnahood3381I love that comment too. I’ve been owned by three JKC shibas for 16, 18 and 18 years respectively. They are def of a different mindset
I once rescued a Yorkie. She had had fleas for a while and got a "hot spot" she use to scratch with a vengeance. I took her to the vet and explained that although she no longer had fleas, she would start scratching that spot right above her tail as soon as it started healing and the scab would itch. I convinced the vet to apply a steroids injection in the area and washed the area daily to speed up the process of removing the scab. She stopped trying to scratch and about 2 weeks later the area was clear and had started growing hair. She was a beautiful little thing❤
Rocky.... Has the shelter an Amazon wish list? They can add whatever need and we can purchase them from overseas rather than send via mail. They will receive it quicker from your international dogpack. ❤ Nottingham GB
Every animal have feeling too, this dogie feels betrayed by his peole evidently, i know this in cats, every time i got cat from somebody, it takes long time she trust me enough to not to leave them.
Hi, I was a Vet Tech for my first career. It was really hard to see the area very well, but that’s an area where dogs with flea allergies show up as a hot spot or hair loss or a red scabby area. Red haired dogs are more sensitive to fleas and flea allergies. I REALLY hope it’s that and not a bite wound. He’s so adorable, I want to grab him right through my computer screen! I hope he found his home or a new family who will love him. ❤
He understands words, he knows tricks, he knows how to play with toys and how to take treats. He obviously has a family that loves him. They probably forgot or didn't realize that they had to register him on their own and are frantic trying to find him. I feel so bad for them and the dog. He's a great dog!
When he started crying in pain, that just tore me up. I know everyone there will take great care of him. You can just tell he’s a good boy. He’s in that much pain and still is so gentle with you.
Nope, not impressed. That wound and pain should have been taken care of IMMEDIATELY. No way he should've been put in the kennel until that was done. Absolutely inexcusable and cruel. For this guy to just be sitting with this suffering creature and not demand treatment is just as inexcusable.
I have shibas. Any vocalizing sounds like an emergency, but he's actually alright. Yes, the wound stung and surprised him. But emotionally, that dog is sound secure and stable. Which is a lot less unsettling than some of the dogs I've seen on this channel. Dogs that look emotionally traumatized or terrified. That wrecks me. This Shiba is unafraid, he will be alright.
@@m.bird. yes I agree with you. It breaks my heart to see some of these dogs in such bad shape, emotionally and physically. But once Rocky gets involved, I know that it’s going to get better.
We rescued a little dog from an abusive home this year, and I started copying Rocky's tone of voice when he says "you're a good girl". I don't know what it is about his inflection, but she responds better when I try to sound like Rocky than when I say it in my normal voice.
When he cried from the pain near butt it was heartwrenching to watch.Thankyou for tending to that.Poor babies been hurting with that for God only knows how long.
My 3 shiba babies all lived a few months past 16 years. Sadly, the last passed in Feb 2023. They are known to be escape artists and the shelter near me actually checks your home/yard for safety in this regard (and vet references)
My Shiba came from a pound in TN...she had run away from previous owners and then from me 3 times until finally she understood she had a home and a person. She is 8yo now, lives with me in VT, looks and acts much younger. A very loyal, loving pet with a STRONG sense of In dependence. She alerts to other dogs, cats and bears! Great little girl!!!
I have a shiba inu, and he's the best sweetest dog in the world--independent, for sure, but was not all that hard to train and he's an angel...Roocky, your gentle humor and affection for these dogs is so wonderful. Thanks for all you do And Shibas aren't really "designer dogs!" They're one of the oldest breeds in existence, and the national dog of Japan--rescued from near extinction after WWII--they are tough as nails. XX
@@cynvision Until they are old and have very few teeth left, yes. True for my 14 year old rescue Shiba. She loves to tear up soft toys, they have quite a prey drive.
You're right, Shibas aren't designer dogs, but you're wrong about them being the national dog of Japan !! That role belongs to the Akita! Two different breeds.
I just purchased a couple of toys from your store, and sent them to the shelter. I figured it’ll help your cause by purchasing from your store, and help them get some toys 🐾💙🐺 I hope life is treating you the way you treat dogs, cause you deserve all the blessings in the world.
Hearing him cry in pain is heartbreaking 💔 he is so sweet we’ll mannered and easy going it seems. This breed is an amazing breed. They actually rarely bark and so for him to cry , you know he’s in pain!
What a smart boy!!! When you were talking about how therapeutic it is for dogs when you let them lick your hand, then you said that people sometimes don't like that and say don't do that, his face changed and he stopped immediately. Like he understood exactly what you said and thought you were saying it to him. (He actually looked like it hurt his feelings 😢) You can tell he's really a people pleaser. His pain is breaking my heart!! I really hope he heals very quickly, I know he's getting great quality care with you guys. What a sweetheart that little man is! The work you guys do is so important ❤❤❤❤, thank you
Every time, I want him to say, “I’ll adopt this one.” ❤❤❤ But I know there are super good humans out there who adopt, and Rocky gets the dogs ready to be adopted. ❤️❤️❤️
We have a part Shiba Inu, part corgi. He always keeps himself amazingly clean. I don’t think his cleanliness tells you anything one way or the other about how long he’s been on the streets. 😊However, our dog is a total escape artist, so he could have simply got lost
@@TheKSBotI was about to say. I have a full 100% Shiba Inu and she is the cleanest dog. She keeps herself nice and tidy. She’ll roll in the dirt then by the time we come home it’s all off her.
The end of that broke my heart. He definitely was showing it to you and trusting you to get him help. 😢❤ Thank goodness he got help afterwards. Please give us an update on him ASAP to let us know if/when he's feeling less pain! What a good dog, and so beautiful and soft looking!
I have EXTREME anxiety over videos that feature abused animals. You are the first person that does not make me feel that way. Can't put my finger on it but it's all you and your approach and demeanor. Thank you SO much! Sincerely
When Makoto is ready for adoption, I'll take him! Been looking for an adult male Shiba Inu for awhile. ...Even already have the matching carpet (they are known to be fantastic shedders!). Have large home with dog run and two large dog parks nearby in a VERY dog friendly town (Reno, NV).
Rocky I watch your videos because you uplift my spirits. I’m out of country so I support my local shelter rather than trying to deal with cross border issues . I just want you to know that what you do is motivate good will for all shelters and rescue centres so that animals in need can be helped. Don’t let let emotional blackmailers dictate what you can say or do on this channel. You’re doing it right just as you are.
I think this is another case of people not dooms their research. Shiba are the cat of the dog world. Theyre so intelligent, stubborn amd will jump femces amd dig under them if not exercised enough. I hope this guy gets a family who understands the breed.
This shiba inu is stunning it absolutely breaks my heart to see any dog in a shelter 😢😭 no dog should ever feel unluved, hungry, thirsty or abused or abandoned, their lives are so short they deserve all the luv & support ❤
3:41 if Kelly starts a sit with cats side for this channel, I'd be so happy as a cat person. Love all animals and sitting with dogs, but I love cats who need love ❤
My heart aches that this dog had to scream like that to get a vet check. So sad so many shelters are that under staffed. Rocky - I just orders 4 large dog bone/chews from Amazon & headed to the shelter. Keep up the great work you do. ❤
Makoto _didn't _*_have to_*_ "scream,"_ i.e. yelp in pain, to get seen - he'd _just arrived_ and was waiting to be seen for his *vet check,* which all animals received there get upon arrival (and that Rocky had _explained)._ That's why it's more quiet (no barking) where he is than in the _adoptable dogs section_ of the shelter. Notice Makato _didn't make a sound_ before Rocky went in, or while he was sitting with him, getting _comfort, positive _*_attention_* and _acknowledgement,_ and doing things like _taking treats,_ and doing basic *tricks/commands,* and playing with toys. All of that _positive stimulation_ *distracted his mind* from his pain, and Rocky's _kind eyes, voice,_ *encouragement* and *petting* flooded the dog with *_dopamine & oxytocin_* (the natural, happy hormones), so his *pain lessened* during that time. As soon as Rocky left his area, which caused anxiety in Makato, he _became aware of the pain_ again, and yelped. I'm sure he's been *seen* and *treated,* the raw, infected area is *already healing,* and Makato is *feeling better* than he did that day.
MAHALO NUI LOA!!!!.....for finally sitting with a Shiba! We have four (two rescues) in The Breakfast Club (Biscuit, Waffle, Bagel and Pancake) and could never get another breed after experiencing their quirkiness and sass. We hope he finds his family if heʻs lost, or finds a great home thatʻs willing to put in the effort. He deserves nothing less. 🥰
Shiba Inus are a very different kind of dog. So smart they seem almost clairvoyant. Super confident. And yes, they'll prefer you do the work, while they attend to more important things.
Hi. I saw ur appeal for dog toys for the shelter and I have ordered some on Amazon US from the UK. They arrive on the 28th Dec. Hope the pups like them. 😊 keep up the great work u do for these dogs.
I rescued to cats from our local shelter and was told they had microchips and all the info was in this folder they gave me ..I had no idea and was never told i needed to call to register those microchips and when i called the number bc one went missing i was surprised to find out i needed to activate and or register it even though i was told it was all done ..So i did make sure to call shelter and let them know to please make sure they tell people just bc they are chipped doesn't mean its done U Must Register that chip and it does cost $ fyi ..Thanks for spreading the awarness about that.I hope they can find his family maybe it will find the vet or shelter that put that chip in.
I believe this poor baby really is hurting and this particular time he opened up and trusted you, Rocky, and begging you to help him with that bad injury asap…, as he screamed and cried as soon as you got out and left him back into the solitude…😢 Didn’t you feel bad when you saw him crying? Dogs are resilient. They endure so much pain. But this broke my heart because he was so patient while you were there with him because he held his hope in you that he was really hoping you to get him released from the pain asap! Poor boy… He is such a great dog ❤❤❤
Thanks for posting this - I hope he isn't abandoned, Shiba Inus are also escape artists like huskies, so he might have also escaped on his own. The breed got popular because of their good looks and social media (doge memes etc.) but people don't read up on how to take care of these more catlike, independent dogs and end up abandoning them when things get too hard. It's so sad to see one in the shelters, but he looks pretty well-trained and hopefully will get returned to owner or adopted soon! I also have an adopted shiba inu from a puppy mill, and he's such a joy and is a tight part of my family! Btw, shiba inus aren't designer dogs, they are actually one of the few ancient breeds from Japan. :)
Like many dogs, Shiba's can be prone to skin sensitivities/allergies that can cause an itch response resulting in scratching and even biting the hair and skin out of the area concerned resulting in a "hotspot" which can be extremely painful. There are many remedies but not all work ... an anti-inflammatory injection or cream can help with calming the irritation so the area can heal. The cause can be as simple as a fleabite to as complex as a seasonal pollen producing plant species which may be difficult to identify. I hope Makoto is feeling better soon and that the drive to provide toys is very successful.
I've been in hospital and apparently pretty ill....any affirmations are being held firmly onto! I am watching all your dog videos, and I can tell you, they are making me feel a whole lot better. Thank you, from the Queensland Bush in Australia
Just send a whole bunch of toys to the shelter. From your friends Sasha, Wolfsburg, Pearl and Zoe (doggy friends who have everything and want to share). Wish I could send more. Thanks for all you and your team does!
If Makoto’s owner is not located, he will certainly be adopted by a wonderful family. Thanks to the shelter for caring for him and thanks to Rocky Kanaka for sharing a few moments with this great dog.
Sitting in those walls with not being able to see other dogs or see outside must be like a prison it breaks my heart. I just wished the world could be a better place for animals I’d take the dog to join my pack if I were in the us 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
I got my Shiba the same way. I found her loose on the road took her to check for chip. Same deal chip unregistered. But know her birthdate and origin. The bad part is that she was abused and scared of everything except other dogs. The great part is I got to keep her and treat her like the Shiba queen she really is. We are best friends and the wife is a bit jealous.
I believe in adopting animals from a shelter and not from a breather. They need all the love and attention you can give them All my dogs and cats have been adopted Don't believe in breeders believe in adopting a loving animal and give them all the love you have. Jersey girl
I want to adopt him right now. My last shiba died of cancer 2 years ago. My first shiba lived to 18. I'm a great shiba mom! He would need to be flown to Nashville. Also needs to be cat friendly.
In past videos they've said that transport outside the area is difficult. However, there's a charity which flies dogs around the country. If you scoot through the Dodo videos, you should find the names of some. If you can contact the shelter with the potential for flying him out, it might help them consider you to adopt him. Good luck!
Hey Rocky! I had a Shiba for over 13 years & she unfortunately passed away from cancer back in 2020. Just a little info… Shibas will always try to deconstruct their toys & love to chew on them & pull them apart. It it can be defluffed or pull the frizz off a tennis ball, a Shiba will get it done always!! I pray this sweet baby’s family is found quickly or a new home is found. Shibas are very prone to bad hot spots & they do it from anxiety or allergies. And they will shed like crazy when they are nervous too. Prayers for you sweet little one 🐾🙏🏻❤️
I can't believe that he's been there 24 hours and they haven't even cleaned his wound and he was in so much pain. It was probably a really bad hotspot poor thing. I thought when dogs came in they treated their wounds right away!!😮 It's even worse here in Houston I'm sure of it.
I agree. I'm very disappointed that Rocky didn't get someone in there immediately when he found that. I'm going to be frantic with worry until I KNOW he's being properly cared for and medically treated. I'm sick right now from high level stress with children being murdered and animals mistreated and suffering. I had to turn off a short today of a tied up abandoned dog that they had zip tied his muzzle closed tight. I burst into tears, I just don't understand such things. The police rescued him and the sweet female officer that gave him so much loving adopted him. He was beautiful. Sometimes I just can't watch anymore, but then I feel guilty. I'm going to search to see how Makoto is. I bet Rocky took care of it immediately.😊 I know it's been some time since the making of this video. If anybody knows would you mind sending me info please. Blessed Be ALL💞✌🏻🌍🌎🌏
I worked in a shelter in 1960s and 70s. All kinds of animals. Our kennel girls did what you do. Getting to know good points and bad about each one. Many lovely stories, few sad. Animals have feelings as we do. Upset, hurt, unsure of what will happen next. If there were more loving concern for others, the whole world would be a much better place. 😊 ❤
Several of our kids came out of orphanages, in heartbreaking conditions. Your videos strike such a cord with me, not just b/c I love dogs & volunteer with our shelter a ton. We need you to come sit with human kids who have trauma & need to be told they are good, worthy, and deserving of love. Thank you for the work you do.
He's a beautiful representation of our amazing breed. My heart hurt hearing him yelp in pain. I hope his owners come get him. I own 2 Shiba's just before you said he was a Shiba I said that's a classic Shiba they want you to cater to them. Give you the look like excuse me I'm royalty you work for me. Him licking your hand is him accepting you. Shiba's are extremely picky who they let into their world. It took weeks before my red boy warmed up to my husband. The plush velvet head ears and back of the neck all classic Shiba characteristics. My babies are Liberty 7yr tri color and 2yr Lieutenant Stryker red color. The funniest thing Shiba's do is butt bash spin smack animals and people with their butts. Super funny insanely smart dogs.
I'm so grateful that I watched this clip. My Elina is the first cat I've had who is chipped but I thought as she was chipped given her chip # I could locate her if she were scanned, so just minutes ago I registered her so they have my address & phone #. Thank you. Whew! I'm going to move in the next 2-3 months & I was very concerned as that is often the time when animals get lost.
What a wonderful boy he is. He holds no ill will to people despite having a painful wound that needs care. I hope the microchip can lead y'all to his owner and get him home.

My Christmas wish for 2023 is for the shelter staff to show up to work soon to find 2 mail trucks full of packages for the doggos! I love FOTV shelter, and fully intend to send something, but as an Australian I wanted to do something in my own country too, so for the last couple months I've been collecting toys and treats, and my family will be going to my local major shelter later today (Christmas Eve for us) to drop them all off. Seeing this video has made me extra glad I chose toys as my contribution....which is fitting because Rocky is the reason I'm doing it in the first place lol
Rocky, Thank you so much for the work that you, Kelly and Alexis do. Angles do live on Earth. We adopted the King Shephard Kelly that you did the video on. If you had not made a video on her we would have never known about her. We are so in love with her. We want to play it forward and have sent a bunch of toys that will be arriving in batches over a few days. We hope that this makes the stay while waiting for a forever home just a little more bearable.
Since watching your program I started telling my 2 dogs they are good girls, pretty girls, I massage the top of their heads saying how sweet you are, your a very good dog. I adopted my dogs, and my last dog she is a beagle she is 4 yrs. now, but when we found her she was only 3 months old, she was walking down a wooded area on a damp cool early morning. We stopped and picked her up. She is our spoiled baby girl. Who loves to eat anything she finds outside and in the house. You don't dare to drop anything to the floor she will get it and eat it.

Finding lost socks? I'm sure you could rent that dog out and make a fortune. There's a great need for that skill in every household. 🙃
Actually, I think his "shake" is more like "give me five!"
❤ same here! We had our amazing Sadie for 14.5 yrs.....I miss her desperately!😢😢😢
I don't believe he is Shiba. He, I believe is a Jindo Dog from South Korea. The face is different. Shiba has more angular face.
(obviously this should be applied to all sorts of area of life....)
Like people who wants raccoons just because they find them cute.... make your reasearch, a lot of people change their mind after 5 minutes.
That pup gets attached quickly, he was heartbroken when Rocky left him 😢 He needs a family asap
Adopt him he is in such a need all thèse Best for this sweet heart
He has a family somewhere. He got out. He looks healthy other than the sore. He shakes, takes treats, and is affectionate. What a sweetheart. He will get all fixed up. ❤️
The way he reacted immediately when you first said "You're a good boy!" tells me he was familiar with that phrase. He's had a loving family somewhere along the line. I'm hoping his familiar is desperately looking for him.
Definitely seems like he's been a well loved house pet. I hope his family find him
Unless his familiar is an abuser.
@@ceasarsaran8573 you can tell when dogs have been abused. He isn't exhibiting those behaviours. Thankfully.
@@Playingwith3D I dont know about that.
Was owned by a shiba for 15 wonderful years. Super smart, super sweet, playful, gentle and absolutely adorable. People need to be well informed before taking any dog into their home. It would help reduce these situations. Shibas are quite emotional and the trauma can stick with them. They dont forget.
That's not good. Treat all pets with respect. They offer true love, a rare thing, true love.
Love "I was owned by a Shiba Inu"...so accurate.
It's so hard to see them suffer.
Poor boy. He was so distressed when you left him. Hope he gets better and adopted soon.
Rocky.... Has the shelter an Amazon wish list? They can add whatever need and we can purchase them from overseas rather than send via mail. They will receive it quicker from your international dogpack. ❤ Nottingham GB
Sheba’s are the most loyal dogs. I couldn’t stop crying when he got up. Thank you for loving on this precious nugget, and for all you do. ❤️
That's the most heart breaking sound in the world 😥
It's actually Shiba-ken! A Japanese Breed.
Shiba Inu
Japanese;
Shiba "brushwood"
Inu "dog"
@@jimmy_wang_ Ken=dog too. Akita ken and Shiba ken as they are known here in Japan too.
I had a Shiba, she was my first dog. She was smart and very loving. She also was my heart and soul.
They are heart dogs.
@@donnabaardsen5372 if you are a guest and want to be tolerated you can't insist on things. You can just ask and he did.
Hi, I've just watched the video and that clip hurt me too. Do you happen to know what the injury was please?
We rescued a little dog from an abusive home this year, and I started copying Rocky's tone of voice when he says "you're a good girl". I don't know what it is about his inflection, but she responds better when I try to sound like Rocky than when I say it in my normal voice.
When he cried from the pain near butt it was heartwrenching to watch.Thankyou for tending to that.Poor babies been hurting with that for God only knows how long.
It was, I have a shiba and I know that baby didn't want Rocky to leave his side.❤
My 3 shiba babies all lived a few months past 16 years. Sadly, the last passed in Feb 2023. They are known to be escape artists and the shelter near me actually checks your home/yard for safety in this regard (and vet references)
Hoagie…?
My Shiba came from a pound in TN...she had run away from previous owners and then from me 3 times until finally she understood she had a home and a person. She is 8yo now, lives with me in VT, looks and acts much younger. A very loyal, loving pet with a STRONG sense of In dependence. She alerts to other dogs, cats and bears! Great little girl!!!
@@suee.perchemlides4947 😍💯
I have a shiba inu, and he's the best sweetest dog in the world--independent, for sure, but was not all that hard to train and he's an angel...Roocky, your gentle humor and affection for these dogs is so wonderful. Thanks for all you do
And Shibas aren't really "designer dogs!" They're one of the oldest breeds in existence, and the national dog of Japan--rescued from near extinction after WWII--they are tough as nails. XX
I would guess this if all of them need really solid chew toys like this dog.
This dog is in Southern California. Please go adopt him!
@@cynvision Until they are old and have very few teeth left, yes. True for my 14 year old rescue Shiba. She loves to tear up soft toys, they have quite a prey drive.
Glad you shared this history, I was going to if I didn’t see it already.
Thank you! 😊
Good idea
P
Considering he has a painful wound, his being willing to connect and be friendly is exemplary.
Yes, his personality is showing through and he’s such a perfect dog.
Hearing him cry in pain is heartbreaking 💔 he is so sweet we’ll mannered and easy going it seems. This breed is an amazing breed. They actually rarely bark and so for him to cry , you know he’s in pain!
Thanks!
The work you guys do is so important ❤❤❤❤, thank you
ROCKY I BET EVERY DOG WANTS TO GO HOME WITH YOU ❣❤❤❤❣
Every time, I want him to say, “I’ll adopt this one.” ❤❤❤
But I know there are super good humans out there who adopt, and Rocky gets the dogs ready to be adopted. ❤️❤️❤️
He's so clean looking I would think he got out. So hope his owners are looking for him. He acts like a family dog. Saying prayers for this guy.
I agree. Someone taught him tricks and loved on him. He was fed well to have a soft coat.
i like that Rocky went "can i share your bed with you" and all puppy was thinking was "more treats" that treat stare was really focused.
Hope he finds his family. I adopted older Shiba in 2020. Know she won’t be here much longer. Would take him in a minute if I could.
Where is an update on him?
I have EXTREME anxiety over videos that feature abused animals. You are the first person that does not make me feel that way. Can't put my finger on it but it's all you and your approach and demeanor. Thank you SO much! Sincerely
Soft voice
Absolutely Brenda .... take care, and Merry Christmas to you and yours🎅🏻🎄🎁☃
Every dog deserves a good home 🐶
Poor little feller. He IS a GOOD boy.
I think this is another case of people not dooms their research. Shiba are the cat of the dog world. Theyre so intelligent, stubborn amd will jump femces amd dig under them if not exercised enough. I hope this guy gets a family who understands the breed.
He is so beautiful! He looks like a teddy bear. ❤
Awesome!
Oh, hello Makoto! I'm so glad you are here (because you will be helped now), and hope you love your new (even if temporary) name! ❤🐾
The dog looks like he is in a lot of discomfort, probably from the sore on his behind.
Mak will have a much better life now. It's wrenching watching him in pain.
Great name you came up with. Cheers.
You picked the perfect name for him! And if his owner is found they will appreciate the thought behind it.❤
A friend of mine has one of these, and that's their name, too! 😂😍
He’s such a lovely dog isn’t he Rocky, bless you for keeping him company too you’re very kind.
This shiba inu is stunning it absolutely breaks my heart to see any dog in a shelter 😢😭 no dog should ever feel unluved, hungry, thirsty or abused or abandoned, their lives are so short they deserve all the luv & support ❤
I was so moved by the moment Makoto showed you his wound. He noticed you have healing hands and figurefd out you could do that to his sore place, too.
3:41 if Kelly starts a sit with cats side for this channel, I'd be so happy as a cat person. Love all animals and sitting with dogs, but I love cats who need love ❤
DITTO!
Go for it Kelly!
Think you are sweetheart and ambassador for them. ❤❤❤😂
When Mokoto started crying like that, I was immediately crying too! Such a sweet boy. 🥺
OMG that dog is the cutest. So sweet and very smart. 💜
Please be sure to give us updates on this lovely boy.
You inspired me to donate to our great, local no-kill shelter. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Won’t a vet be called to take care of his wound until he’s adopted??? Compassion for this guy!
Think he’d just not had the vet check yet. Recent arrival
Yeah, Rocky said he received medical treatment shortly after sitting with him.
(edit: 19:59)
You must be new. These people are not ignoring his injury. He just got in.
Can't wait to see the update for this lovely dog - hope all turns out well for him.
We had a rescue, she was a Shiba and we called her Sugar girl. She lived to be almost 22 and was the best dog we ever had…
Please buy the shelter some toys with this!
Have you contacted the breed rescue club ? They might be able to find the breeder who possibly gave him his microchip as a puppy. Worth a try !!!❤
My daughter read and researched shibas for over 10 years before we added one to our family.
I think he referred to him as a designer dog breed because they are not easy to come by, so you usually see them with more well-off owners.
When you were petting his head and chest, he looked fox-like. What a sweet and handsome boy. I hope he finds his furever home and heals quickly.
I absolutely love watching sitting with dogs!! It is amazing with kindness and love they open up and become who they were meant to be!!❤️
I know, right?? 😍❤️👍🥰
Me too. Its therapeutic for the dogs, and humans too ❤
Just send a whole bunch of toys to the shelter. From your friends Sasha, Wolfsburg, Pearl and Zoe (doggy friends who have everything and want to share). Wish I could send more. Thanks for all you and your team does!
Thank you and Merry Christmas
If Makoto’s owner is not located, he will certainly be adopted by a wonderful family. Thanks to the shelter for caring for him and thanks to Rocky Kanaka for sharing a few moments with this great dog.
Sitting in those walls with not being able to see other dogs or see outside must be like a prison it breaks my heart. I just wished the world could be a better place for animals I’d take the dog to join my pack if I were in the us 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
...I have never seen a dog pull fuzz off a tennis ball with his teeth before this guy hah. Beautiful dog, and you can tell how smart he is.
Him crying broke my heart💔 Do follow-up please.
Thanks! For toys!
Will use it to buy toys for them. Thank you
I have a Shiba. She is about 11 yrs old. She has a mind of her own. They can b strong will. ❤❤❤

Blessed Be ALL💞✌🏻🌍🌎🌏
I need to register my dogs ! Thanks for the reminder .
Maybe you could start a program for orphanages for new arrivals!
I’ve seen a wild urban fox do that to one of his family members. Everyone says my Shiba looks like a fox (except the curled tail).
Funny, but as I looked him I thought the name to fit him is "King"!!! He does have that imperious look!

I'm in Australia too and it's also inspired me.
