Tram Train in Tarragona is going to be AMAZING, it will connect HSL stations, Commuter train stations, universities, the airport, huge residential areas (Reus 100k + TGN 120k + Cambril-Salou-Vilaseca 100k and more in summer), oficce buildings, detatched parts on the outskirts of the city... and it's going to be fast! Reus TGN in 25 minutes is super competitive, even faster than car in some places Catalonia has a lot going on with tram trains, this one is the leading project but there are a lot of other projects like this; Tram Olot-Banyoles, Tram Costa Brava, Tram terres de l'Ebre, Tram Bages, Tram Blanes-Lloret... Catalonia currently has no tram trains but it has a ton of potential, it can make amazing sistems such as built in France but south of the pyrenees (Pirineus in Catalan)
And it's sad to think that we used to have the XX century equivalent to tram-trains, lots of narrow gauge train lines: the "carrilets". They were sadly dismantled in the 70s. They would have been really useful now :(
The city council of Vantaa accepted the budget for Vantaa LR yesterday evening, construction will begin early 2025. 🎉 The line is 19km long and will make Vantaa Finlands fourth city with a tram. It connects to Helsinki metro from the southernmost point, and Vantaa airport in the north.
I'm so fucking happy to see it going through! I live in Reus and always was so excited when I saw updates on the local newspaper, this will ABSOLUTELY have a positive effect on the area and will make connectivity SO much better, plus it will probably even boost tourism!
In Stuttgart the U-Bahn Line U5 got extended from Leinfelden Bahnhof to Leinfelden Neuer Markt (660m). The first day of operation was the 18. of october. Parts of the line were also modernised and all together it cost 11,9€ Million. There are plans to extend the line even further to Echterdingen which should be built by around 2030 (there used to be a tram line but this was decommissioned in 1990 and removed, the line alignment was kept clear tho so building an extension with new wider Tracks for the U-Bahn will be easier)
Great news this week! In the north part of the San Francisco Bay Area (Sonoma & Marin Counties), a new bikeshare system launched on 15 October with over 300 e-bikes, called Redwood Bikeshare. It was funded with a regional grant of $826,000.
Just to clarify, the Sydney story is about the Parramatta line stage 2 which will join stage 1 (which is due to open soon) with the Olympic Park precinct which was used for the 2000 Olympics.
Interesting, as always! Have you already discussed Tallinn's plans to build a new tram line to Pelguranna and tram tracks to Liivalaia street, which must be built for potential future extensions towards the city's western districts. These would add just about 3 kilometers of track to Tallinn. The Department of Transportation has also agreed that a new line to Järve keskus should be built with an interchange hub (train, tram, bus) to combat intensifying car traffic from southwestern suburbs inside and outside of city boundaries. All information about these projects is available in English 🙂
Making the system rely on batteries for some sections only because town halls don't want "ugly" wires on their streets is about the stupidest thing you could do. The fact that these towns lost their rail connections a few years ago and now seem to be making everything on their hands to stop the tram says a lot about the car-centric minds of the mayors and what seems even hate for everything on rails. Meanwhile years keep passing and the people of Salou of Cambrils still don't have sufficient public transport for two of the most turistic towns in Catalunya (Salou being second after Bcn) and populated areas in the region.
Can you talk about the new road scheme on the Vokzalna square in Kyiv (square near the main train station) please? There is so much controversy going on. For example, a bus lane and a separated bike lane appeared instead of parking spaces that infuriated the carbrains. The main task of the new road scheme was to make impossible to violate traffic rules and to give the priority to the bikes and buses. The existing parkings nearby weren't full but cars parked on the bike lane before it has become impossible.
@@cityforall I reckon, it became better, especially for bikes, but traffic rule enforcement is not strong enough, so cars and taxis enter the bus lane, the new bus stop for small buses is parked. The "kiss&ride" area for fast car exiting became the area for taxis and cars to wait for the clients. The nearby parking lots and parking places are not full. The prices are from 35 to 50 UAH per hour for parking near the main train station that contains the regional rail station and the bus station, and shops, including McDonalds.
Thanks for the Milan M4 update and congrats on 10k!
Yes! I was all in for Tarragona’s tram-train and I’m glad it got rolling
Congratw on reaching 10k Subs
Hard work pays off
Thanks! I am already wondering what will happen next

Glad to be first for once. Another week of requesting updates on major extensions of metro lines in all the major cities in India.
Hope to talk about it next week.
In fact, I prepared a lot more news for this episode, but I had some other things to do, so I just didn't have time to record everything.
I've discovered this channel right now, immediately subscribed. Thx for the update about Milano. Ciao a presto!
Happy to hear that, thank you!
Congrats on 10k!
Thanks! That's really exciting to pass this milestone!
🎉 thank you as always 👍🏻
Thanks you too!

New subscriber! Thanks for the news!!!

I don't think I've talked about this yet. As for Tallinn, I had stories about the closure of trolleybus traffic and the new PESA trams.
There's a ton of videos on the new Milan M4 metro line on Webuild's UA-cam channel, it's great
all the best!
Thanks!

We are doing that? If I had an Idea how to actually do it I would file a complaint.
