- Bob Schmidt shows you a great tool to have when starting a home renovation project. An electric tester can help prevent accidental electric shock when working with electric. It is how to find out if a wire is hot and help determine the circuit in the electric panel to shut off. abandoned wires are very difficult to determine and junction boxes sometimes have more than one circuit going through them so it is very important during disconnect to know the wires that are live, How to know if electric wire is hot active? how to shut off correct circuit breaker. Electric wire just hanging in wall not connected to anything. plug wire connected to switch ? how to tell if a wire is hot or not? DIY

This is a handy tool for me in my handyman business. Thanks for all these informative videos Bob. Keep them coming.
Yaaaaay! It's Bob! More videos Bob! We love Bob videos. Yaaaaaay!
this tool saved my life today!
I was working on a recept, and saw and old hot tie in... figured that it was dead because i turned off the CB... but i probed it with my volt light.. and wouldn't you know it was hot. thank goodness for that volt light!
That is a useful tool and received on from Sears when I purchased some other tools and it does come in handy when doing electrical work around the house.
that Klein is my best go to tool, have it in my belt all the time.
Excellent video!
5*!

Good story, and you were wise to use insulated cutters.
The worse to happen to me, is getting shocked by a shorted outlet.
I was alert before when doing electrical work for myself, but now 100X more.
I got a handly little tools myself, my finger.
Almost killed myself the other day when i was cutting a old extesion cord into pieces.
I thought that it was unplugged, wow not gonna make that mistake again. Thank God for fuses!
I need a electic tester too since i do most of the electrics around my house myself.
Hi, thank you for the video , can you please upload a video to show how to do the ceiling .
@Vid
Looks like a very useful tool.
thanks bob please keep posting.
Great tip... Prior to watching this video, I used to strip the ends off of any wire that was questionalble and then put the bare copper leads of the wire into my mouth to see if it was live or not. I have been electrocuted several times with this method and if fact, it killed me twice! Yes, my wife found my dead body during our kitchen renovation. Quite a price to pay to find out that I could have avoided death with a simple electrical tester. Thanks Bob for your video!
Only kidding!
also good for testing if your GFCI is still working properly. not too many people check monthly as it says on the outlet...
Not forgetting to mention, you should test the tester again after use to make sure it is still functioning correctly...
I am not sure what your request is. +++Bob
will this tool work on tvs??
What about the neutral it to can carry current even when cb is off, when circuit shares the neutral in a network neutral still Carries the load for the other energized circuit in the network.;-) B careful and make sure the other circuit is dead too because you can still be shocked from the load on the neutral!
Sorry .that was for the video "framing walls" , so I wanted to know how to do a wooden ceiling
am the 5000 view !
