I just purchased a Henry rifle today. I'm planning on always doing your method of cleaning and not taking the action apart. Boresnake, CLP, and Rem Oil with some tooth brushing around.

How has it worked for you? I bought a Rio Bravo chambered in 22lr and I have read mixed reviews. I haven't gotten mine because there's some paperwork to finish but I am hoping mine doesn't have any issues

Do you think using a bore snake is better than using a rod, do you clean the bore snake after each use, if not you are dragging a contaminated rope with dirt and maybe grit across the crown. Better to be careful and use the cleaning rod.

Is this how you clean a lever action the very first time as well? I got mine from the dealer yesterday and need to clean the barrel before using.
