They were MUCH BETTER than Kiss, even without all the special effects and theatrics! They blew me away!!! I’ll never forget forget Angus carrying Bon on his back, going through the audience! Excellent point. KISS is probably The Best marketed band of all time, and they're a Blast In Concert. However, they aren't near the musician's ACDC is. Gene (adequate musician, but Genius Marketer)Simmons himself has always taunted the great show's they put on, but not necessarily the actual band itself is. Behind closed doors GS would be the 1st to agree with us, you might not even have to close the doors......

Richard Ramirez was called Night Prowler, but this was a full 5 years after the song of the same name was recorded. Unless they have some psychic ability the two are unrelated. Ramirez did wear an AC DC hat during some of his crimes, but wasn't wearing it when he was arrested.

I'm a good judge of the energy & music that rock bands have created & performed in history, intently listening to their sound and amplified vocals & instruments, wether recorded in a studio or live on stage..the bottom line is, in the world of rock bands comparing to each other, since the late 50s.. there is no other band that could find or produce the raunchy, mean, energetic rock sound that ACDC had with 5 band members, lighting the world on fire with their paramount blast of explosive energy. The powerful rythyms & lead guitar sounds of the Young brothers, their thumping base, the scratchy tenor voices of both Bon & Brian in their tenures, and the beat of their drums in tempo & their hellish raunchy lyrics. The Best! There is no other band!

Highway to Hell put them on the map because of the iconic title track but I believe as a whole that the Powerage album is a far superior album and is sadly to this day one of the most underrated albums ever created. I think it is the so to speak Back in Black of the Bon Scott era. It's loaded with gems and sprinkled with semi precious (but still desirable) stones. I've always liked the sound of Brian's voice better (Scott was superior in writing lyrics) but Scott's voice was the perfect fit for the Powerage album and nobody can match him on it. I do believe Scotts fingerprints are on the BIB album but whether it's true or not Johnson was the unparalleled fit to sing that album. Sadly, it's so close to the time that the world will speak of AC/DC in past tense. I really stress the sadly part because I've never idolized any celebrity including any that make up AC/DC but when Malcom died along with myself being 40 and enjoying their music for the past 35 of those years, I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel like a part of my life/me has died as well. Don't let anyone bullshit you. Getting old sucks.

The narrator is completely wrong about "Night Prowler". That song was not written about the serial killer, who was apparently an AC/DC fan but his crimes were committed 5 years AFTER Highway To Hell was released. So unless he was the world's first time travelling murderer it would have been impossible for the band to have based that song on his activities.
Also, Malcolm Dome has an odd way of interpreting "Shake A Leg". The most common meaning of the phrase in England during that period (especially amongst working class people like Brian) was to "get down and have a good time" or "let loose and have a party". Alternately it was used to mean "hurry up", as in "Shake a leg, we're going to be late". And just by looking at the song's lyrics, Dome's theory about shaking a certain other part of the body makes no sense within the context of the song.

If you could, my God I would have taken Bon home that night, been in the pool with Brian Jones, called the police on the arsehole who does not deserve a name, for having a gun and kicked John's murderer in the teensy balls before he could cowardly pull out his gun at the entrance of the Dakota, ... If only I could time travel.

Bon allways maintained otherwise." BOLLOCKS!!! It was the other way around. Night prowler was recorded in 1979. Bon died in 1980. "The night STALKER", Richard Ramirez started his killing spree in about 1984, and was caught in August 1985. He was wearing an AC/DC T-shirt though, and there were speculations in papers on wether Ramirez was inspired by the song.

You’ve done very well to make a documentary out of this. The only person connected to the band is their studio engineer for the album. Malcolm Dome was a respected journalist, who at least knew Bon socially. But using an AC/DC tribute band as your main commentators? Genius. They should know what the band had to do, because they play the songs. But they didn’t write them!

I hear a lot of people say Brian sounds just like Bon. Honestly, maybe I just have a more keen ear, I dunno, but I don't think they sound anything alike. Both are amazing rock n roll singers and I don't have a favorite really, but I don't understand how anyone can hear one and then the other and think they sound the same. Bon has a drier voice, more mid range and less scream. Brian's vocals are like a pissed off banshee, lots of high end and demonic squealing.

Brian had a higher range and sang with a lot more vocal fry/grit in his voice than Bon. Even by 83 he was struggling to hit the notes he’d done on record. And his voice is f***ed now- no power, except at the bottom end, and no range. I’ve heard innumerable clips of Bon live and he never sounded like he couldn’t hit his notes. Sometimes he had to scream a bit to get them, but he sang within his range. Then again, we never got the chance to hear Bon sing in his 60s, and with his lifestyle, God only knows what his voice would’ve sounded like!

There's a big lie towards the end regarding the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez. Those killings happened a few years later in the early '80s, Bon was already gone, he never wrote "Night Prowler" in 1979 about Ramirez or denied it. It's the other way around. Ramirez was inspired by the "Night Prowler" song and left an AC/DC cap at the crime scene. The band (with Brian, not Bon) denied any Satanic message or connection.

I would say that "Given the Dog a Bone" and probably Money, Honey were NOT Bon Scott lyrics. I do know that the "What Do You Do For Money, Honey" was a George Young title. Bon was far more clever with his lyrics than Brian. Can I see Bon writing "You Shook Me," and "Have a Drink on Me?" Yes. Some of "Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," including the title? Yes. Some of the other lyrics just doesnt sound like Bon's stuff to me. Plus Brian is very confused about what song he first wrote lyrics and recorded first. In a 2003 documentary, he said it was "Hell's Bells," and yet in other interviews, including a couple on Howard Stern, he says it was "You Shook Me." There has been a lot of conflicting accounts from Brian, Angus, and Malcolm over the years. "Shoot to Thrill" is a confusing mish mash of lyrics to me. It is REALLY about "too many women, too many pills?" as Brian claims, is it another song about sex, like the rest of the lyrics suggest, or is it about a western, like Angus says about that breakdown after the solo? I'd say more of a double entendre about sex AND a "gunfight" with the girl "pull(ing) the trigger" (wink). Of all of these guys speaking here, I believe Malcolm Dome above anyone else, especially since HE ACTUALLY SAW some of the lyrics Bon was working on for what became "BiB."

How it's even a question of Bon's involvement in BIB is baffling. The drop-off in quality after BIB is staggering. They never came close to reaching the heights they did with Bon. You get one album recorded within a couple of months of his death then nothing. Sure the odd song here and there but the band was effectively over as a compelling and top of the line songwriting trio.

I really like this series, but I really think this is over the top way of selling Brian Johnson as the writer of Back in Black which did the opposite for this huge AC/DC fan. There has always been doubt for me whether Johnson really did write the lyrics and now this oversell puts even more doubt into by breaking down all the sexual innuendos which was Bon to a tee and not Brian prior nor after this. If Brian did contribute to this album, it was with Bon's notebook with versus just needing tidying up.

Wow. What could have been... The guitar guy summed it up best. Back in Black IS a rebirth of AC/DC. I lived those years too, and recall hearing Brian Johnson in a radio interview during the late eighties or early nineties. "How in hell were we supposed to follow that up?!" But you know what? They did! FTATR and Flick of the Switch ARE more Back in Black! Really, try it and see! Those three albums make a nice matching set. I wore out multiple cassette copies of those too. It's the fans, not the bands, that are fickle. Get a little bit of something good, and five minutes later it's on to the next "new" thing.
HTH was just not enough Bon to satisfy indefinitely (Yes, I love all the early material, but HTH is on a production level that shames the rest) What could have been?! Regardless, AC/DC have proven my seventh grade music teacher VERY WRONG!
