On the family farm in Devon, one day we found two Jacob sheep amongst our commercial flock, asked all the neighbours no one took owner ship, they stayed with us for a few years always always gave lambs. The down side they were like a pair of Houdinis, to stop them escaping through hedge rows, father and I tied a short stick to the horns, so when they tried to escape they could not get the head through the gap, trained them quite quickly.

I use Oakhill vets too. By far the best vets I’ve ever used. Funny story, I live in Manchester so Oakhill aren’t nearby at all but after ringing 3 vets in our local area (including the vets we were currently using!) we couldn’t get an appointment at all that day. Mum has been using Oakhill for 20+ years with her horses (60+ at one point) & domestic pets so asked her to ring Oakhill, they said I needed to ring to transfer over etc. I rang, they answered within one ring, then they managed to contact my vets WHILST I WAS ON MY WAY to get all my cats information & then rang me to confirm all was sorted. In the panicked state I was in at the time this left a incredible sense of how much they actually care. Could not recommend them highly enough. P.S. my cat is fine now. She’s currently sat next to me on the sofa watching this
👍👍 So right Tom., “That is a good view”, watching the cows having their mixed ration in that splendid shed. They look very comfortable in their dry cozy beds. 😁❤️
What a great video!!!!!!! Showing lots of different jobs that need to be done around the farm, cows glad to be in out of that horrid weather. Well done dad too 🤗
Love to see the cows. You know they feel good when they lay down chilling leg streched out..they like their new shed. Always nice to see the normal things at the farm. Feeding talking to the cows and of course looking at the highlands.
Love watching your videos, seeing how much you love what you're doing. Most of all I love that you work with your dad, shows so much respect and love that you both have for each other.
Great update Tom. I do love the day to day running of the farm videos as well. Yes, the chopping and equipment/buildings oriented videos are some of my favourites, but I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed in anything you’ve put out.
I love these catch up videos - seeing the Pemberton passion to make the cows so happy is the best. Hard to believe it was a year ago you were racing to finish it - can you imagine what it's going to look like next year? Well done Tom and GGWM x
we always run the black plastic under layment down the wall up the wall and over the top of the pile then the cover over the top and the wall cows like horses stand in bad weather so the wet runs off their back and down, their belly stays dry and creates heat to hep them weather the storm. Never wipe off or squeegee an animal unless you are going to put them in a stall till the storm is over
Great to have a quick catch up about the daily routine. Bet those young lambs gave you the right run around, trying to separate them. Looking forward to next Wednesday. seeing all the new buildings.
New cow sheds, new tractor, new yard! Concrete floor first then roof and we know you need roof. It’s helping silage or bale stay dry. Your dad would proud you lots!
Tom i used to haul the leftover corn from the ethanol plants to the dairies here in California, United States. In a 40 Foot Aluminum end dump with 50,000 Pounds to the dairies and there's one dairy that i used to take it to that they had to have three loads of it a day to feed their cows! And another company had three dairies that had to have a loads at each of the dairies every morning they Make cheese with almost all of their milk! Thank You Tom For Sharing Your Video!
Hey Tom another great vid was nice to have a catch up with the livestock and daily chores. We recently stayed at a campsite which was a working dairy and they did raw milk but also had milkshake shots you could add to the milk for an additional cost our kids were mad for the stuff. Have a great weekend team Pemberton.
If you're worrying about getting the rest of that old 3rd cut ate, take in a digger & pull it out from the back wall & spread it over the floor & cover it with new stuff, it means u can put on new covers on the wall & u'll be eating it gradually along with new stuff when you reopen it👍👍

Nice to see that the farm is becoming bigger and at the same time more efficient. The thing im wondering about is maybe moving that meal bin close to the manure tank makes making silage a lot simpler and easier. Especially with the bigger trailers and covering the pit should be a lot easier.

Amazing where the farm has progressed with regard to rebuilding & with adding technology to the mix. The barn in action is STUNNING! I actually do kind of miss the old style way that you move Cowles around before. It was an exciting methodology that was used in, as well. This, though, really seems to maximize all aspects of how to handle all of those animals… Bravo!
We are using cobiotex too. Done very well for us. We combined it with the envirobed paper bedding. And that was an absolute game changer. Gone from 180 cases in 400 cows per year to 80 cases. Mastitis that is.
Side sheets would fix that problem with the water, when you sheet down you fold the side sheets under the top and then the water runs down between the concrete and the side sheets and into the pipes you have laid around the sides. Same idea as a silage bale, protect the top and the sides and the bottom will be fine as it deals with the ground surface
