Striped Bass or Tuna????

- With unseasonably warm temps here in New Jersey and favorable water here in our local canyons I had to make a game time decision on whether I'd fish for Yellowfin and Bigeye tuna out in the canyons (75-90 miles) or run 20-40 miles looking for big striped bass.
I had found the stripers just a few days prior gorging on adult bunker. With a crazy work schedule....little sleep... and depleting funds I opted to go for the safe bet and try n find the bass. It paid off and we had some fun!!!
Lot of respect for how you handle the striper when releasing them
For sure man. Wish people would do more of the same
Cool boat, lots of room n can walk around easily with center console👍🎣
thank you so much!
I'd love to get out with you next season. Looks like a blast.
Well done! Very nice how you talk to the fish.... Captain Chris the " Fish Whisperer ". Tight lines.
Ha!!! I love my solo trips!!!
Couldn’t agree more about the November sun sets. Milky skies, grey water, fresh salt air. Wish it would stay like that all winter…
It's one of the reasons I'm still here in New Jersey. I just love the fall and the seasons!
Great video Chris, your obsession with being alone makes me chuckle. I can remember decades ago having a school of Yellowfin under the boat 5 in the box and 2 guys hooked up and a boat starts to come by. We had to start chumming under the boat up drift to try to make the fish go down and had the 2 anglers lay their rods on the gunnel and drop the drag so the other boat couldn't see what was going on. As soon as they turned away anyone that was not in direct site we bumped the drag back up.
Ha. That's great. We do stuff like that all the time!
Looks like you made a good call to go for stripers, Zac is missing out on all the action! Great video as always! Keep ‘em coming Capt. Chris
Will do Larry!! Thanks so much for watching!
Love the channel and you encourage me to fish more alone. Can’t wait for next season brother! I’m up north from ya, pulled out early this year but will be back in come April when they allow me 😊
Thanks so much for watching Jason! Fishing alone is for the soul I always say! See ya on the water
Gotta love the beautiful sunset music! I may have 😢 a bit missing this season
Ugh. Sorry brother. We'll get em
Chris, great content as always - grab an inflatable life vest. I always wear it when running solo, you don't even notice you have it on.
thanks so much for watching!! I really do need to get one!
Great job as usual with the video. That is the best feeling when you find them on your own like that. Congrats !! :)
thanks as always Andy!!
Great stuff! It's been an awesome fall run for sure
thanks so much for watching!!!
Hey Chris , what’s your opinion on when the cape may rips have been dead for over a decade now…..
Gotta get a cast net. Awesome video
I have one but mostly use it for the peanuts and mullet.
All I can say is it is wonderful to see such a population of huge reproductive
cows right off the Jersey coast line and the people respecting them. It is unbelievable out there. I would think some of the best stripping fishing in the world right off the coast of New Jersey. Don't miss out..
Let's hope it lasts Edward!!! Can't thank you enough for watching!
What rod and reel combo you got behind ya?
Contemplating on getting a pair of binoculars. Do you have any on board?
yes we have two pair. i can never seem to find either when needed!!!
What size snagging hooks do you find works best for snagging bunker?
I find the smaller the better actually
What size contender is that? Really perfect all around fishing machine
it's a 2005 23 Tournament. It's now called the 25 Tournament. It's really a 25
Striped Bass are so beautiful with their rainbow colors on their sides. Nice cows. I agree why take the fish out the water to measure, weigh , take pictures and just admire keep in the water unharmed. Reaper why don't you wear a glove when handling the line? What's up with the Bluefish i have not seem any all year. Peace.
thanks so much for watching. I don't normally find that I need a glove actually. My hands are pretty tough. And I like the striper thumb. Believe it or not just last week we had some monster bluefish mixed in with bass up off Barnegat
Do you ever use top water lures like spooks or metal lips for stripers?
not that often honestly. these fish were all keyed in to the live bunker for sure
I believe the pfd rule is for boats under 21ft.
Great video Capt! Were you up around Seaside?
This was north LBI
Fun time, but they always find you!
ha. For sure!
what does that boat burn in fuel?
Typically 1.6-2 miles/gallon depending on how fast we are running
thanks, why didn't you move the big boat up to shark river like you did in past seasons?@@reaperfishingnj8623
I get the i dont knows some tournament mornings hahahahahahahaha what am i talking about most mornings lolololol
Ha!!!!
I wish more people would release as clean as you without the "Glory Shot" a lot of white looking bass pictures on Instagram.
it' crazy man. thanks for watching!
How are you wearing a Giant´ś hat? E-A-G-L-E-S- !!!
Ugh.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 Go commanders! (were trash this year)
Tuna!
Yeah I wimped out. The fishing was good in the canyons too. I have no regrets though
@@reaperfishingnj8623you got out and caught fish, which is all that really matters. Keep up the Tight lines.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 thanks for the video and posts.
man you've gotta be the best of the best when it comes to catch and release, not even taking this big girls out the water as well as the great hooksets-- you probably have a 0% motatilty rate, well done
Thanks so much for watching!!! I take pride in it!
First
YES!!!
Running 35-40 miles for a stinking bass, no thanks. Go tuna fishing
Fair enough!
Why didn't u call your buddy ?
I did. I was gonna add in our conversation on the phone but he's a pretty private guy and didn't want to blast him on UA-cam. He stayed up where he was and did better than me actually
