Talk about being dialed into your fishery and using your electronics to have a banner day. Rob was truly calling his shots. Probably one of the most enjoyable OTW episodes I’ve ever watched simply based on Captain skill, techniques used (and executed), and quality of fish caught. So good boys 🤙🏼

This was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot of them. Not only was the action non-stop and unexpected, the excitement of everyone on the boat was REAL. Obvious joy and appreciation of this beautiful fish and innovative technique on full display. On the Water…GREAT JOB!
I want more of that with Captain Rob for sure! One of my fav episodes yet! He has that technique obviously dialed and its awesome to watch! Also the captain is super passionate and we need more people like him to help preserve these fish that haunt my dreams... lol! The way he uses circle hooks and bridles the bait goes a long way in helping these big bass to swim away and actually survive. Ive been using circle hooks since around 2004 and never regretted it. I even use them for trout fishing with bait. Captain Robs adopted "new" technique is something i want to try badly after watching this! Maybe even try with Mackerel if the pogies are scarce. thx great video
Man how I miss fishing there I remember being a little kid and my dad taking me there to fish for strippers and blues how awesome to see this video awesome guys thanks for the memories. Now I live in Washington state I’m veteran and live it here the outdoors is what kept me here it’s ok it needs to improve thanks again guys
Great fishing adventure, friends, fishing using live fish bait, the first spot has no strike. on the way to getting strikes and strikes. amazing.. be careful friends.. success always.. thanks for sharing.
great footage I'm based and have grown up on the Chesapeake but I admire y'all boys up north, I gotta make a trip soon as the bays trophy scene has gotten worse the last decade
The fish with the bunker in its mouth was epic. Also I try to teach people that technique with releasing the fish. Supporting thier body weight. I even cradled them like a baby because I'm on the shoreline. But it is stuck in these guys heads that you lip the fish . And it drives me crazy. And thier still is some stupid videos out there telling you to do it. It Upset sets me. Was happy to see you guys do it the right way.
Great video!! One comment: My group of fishing friends used that dock lure out at Block Island last year to great success. We did however, eventually change out the treble hooks to single hooks. This definitely reduced time to unhook the fish and reduces further damage to the fish's mouth and, additional damage from the second treble it flops around in the net or on the deck. I noticed that your doc lures had the large trebles and it definitely took you longer to get the bass back in the water due to trying to extract 2 or even 3 hooks. Have you considered this? Thanks, Mike Dwyer OTW subscriber
I was snagging pogies a few days ago in massachusetts and when I snaged one a big striper bass eats the pogie right away and she got the hook a little bit deeper I could not get the hook out, I had to cut my line close that I could, I let the striper bass go. I don't know if she will make it? I still feel so sad about it I never kill the fish that was never my intention, I wanted to get the pogie out the water and rig it on circle hook.
It's called a spiral wrap. when the guides are all on top of the rod, it wants to roll over when it's under pressure. With a spiral wrap, it has a more stable feel. It's subtle, but noticeable. Does look crazy though!
Why is it a waste?? People doing something they love to do isn't a waste.. sitting home on the couch is a waste, waste of time, waste of life.. being outdoors on the water and having fun is priceless.
With all the fish in the ocean a hard working middle class fisherman in NY can on keep one striped bass and it has to slot size of 28"-35" !!! BS regulation !!!
Same here in RI. Slot limit of 28-35 inches, and now we're even required to use circle hooks if using bait. The head boats don't bother doing their nighttime stripers anymore, instead just doing their nighttime squid trips all summer.
@@Omd-vz2gt For the past four years striped bass have some of the lowest spawn success rates in history which is extremely concerning, this is a severe threat that humans have no control over that diminishes new juvenile striped bass, we are losing new spawns due to nature alone. “Schoolie” striped bass are consistently being slaughtered from Virginia to Maine by poachers on a nightly basis, I fish over 100 nights per season and without fail I see non-English speakers taking as many undersized fish as they can get their hands on because they are fishing to feed their families and don’t care about regulations and the reasons for them. Schoolie aged striped bass that have 20+ years of breeding left are being taken out of the ecosystem at record rates and it will only get worse as undocumented immigrants keep showing up on the east coast. Large breeder sized female fish were given a green light for commercial fisherman to keep during the 2021 fishing season by several states, defying the slot limit and these large females pop out the most eggs. In my state alone I saw commercial guys slaughter tons of 30-40 pound class fish last summer. Slot fish are fair game and being targeted by people who follow the rules like yourself I assume. Do you see how all levels of striped bass being slaughtered at once can lead to a sudden collapse of the fishery? If you want these fish to be around for your grandkids I suggest going to the fish market and buying some Cod because they will not be around much longer at this rate.
I see your point and I don't disagree!! But the current regulations are making fishing very expensive!! The DEC knows that my compatriots from China are selling undesize striped bass on 8th Avenue in Brooklyn but the DEC doesn't do squat about!!
Rhode Island baby!! That was an awesome video

Very cool. It was great seeing you guys fish in my backyard. Looking forward to 2022!

No joke, I watched this video yesterday and today I see Captain Rob in Reel EZ out on the water at Brenton Reef. 😂🤙
Wow amazing video I never would have thought of this!

Awesome videos guys
I would enjoy going out with Rob, awesome guy.
I’ve only seen this done once. Blew my mind and caught some really nice stripers on a day the fish were being finicky.
Was out last night on Raritan Bay NY..
Lots of Bunker in the moon light!!!!
Great video and a lot of fun. I would have liked to see better how you were rigging those bunkers with the elastics though.

What rods are those? They seems very light & able to land big fish
Excitement building 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🎣🇺🇸
Great, now everyone is gonna be throwing bunker all over Jamaica bay when New Yorkers watch this !! Haaa
Sick video!! can't wait for this season to really fire up! What rod and reels are bing used?
Captain ROBERT TAYLOR " THE SKIPPER" is the best charter in the entire NORTH EAST...NEW ENGLAND...
Might try this with Bluefin Tunas.
I'm so pumped and ready to go after some stripers after watching this video! lol.
Lovin it... Get some bass!
Incredible!
How would I be able to book a charter with Rob? Seems like a very capable and cool captain
Rob is the man! Tuna, tog, or stripers, he'll get you on them. Here's his website with his contact info: www.nsfcharters.com/

We use to live line bunker to catch tiderunner weakfish off of Long Island back in the 70's and 80's
When was this filmed??
So,what is the deal with the "Z" ship in the bay?Just curious if anyone knows.
LOVE THIS!!!! Our season in NY starts in a few weeks . What rods are those ? I know the reel but would like to know what rods you are using
Another great video and also a nice rod/reel. What is the rod/reel used? Thx.

@@OnTheWaterMedia wow never herd of that. Makes sense.
Is that just a file he had to sharpen the hooks?
Wet dreams for sure
What is your rod and reel combo?
Is this video recently made? Are bluefish out I. Rhodes island??
That’s Awesome man, what rods/reels were y’all using?
What rod were you using to slow troll?
Is striped bass are out rn at rhode island ?
What type of line do u guys use
Definitely gonna have to try the live chum technique this year but I can't stand people who don't turn their clicker off when fighting a fish
When I’m in my kayak and I see fish on my fish finder I find it difficult knowing where exactly the fish is to my kayak. Can anyone help me?
How much does a boat like that go for?
Savage!
I wish California had the same regulations...24+ inch stripers are becoming increasingly rare
what rods and reels are you using for trolling the bunker?
I came here for same info.
Jiggingworld black widow 150gam rods
What happened to striper migration reports?
They are returning very soon!
I was wondering what happened to Forrest Gump.
isn't this just live lining? i thought chumming was putting scent in the water with no hooks
Anyone else think bubba/Gump?
Or just drift over them and flutter spoon them LOL
Those guys get a little too excited when they see fish on the surface. That's googin behavior.
Hate to be THAT guy but that wasn't Narransett bay. Great video nonetheless.
You are correct, it was in Narragansett Bay though. That is the Mount Hope Bridge in the video.
@@3DSAILOR Yea exactly, go under the bridge and youre now in the Mt Hope Bay. Not gansett bay.
Electronics should be outlawed. There is very little sport when using them. Learn the craft
Can't imagine how much fuel was wasted to catch some fish. Like how many gallons of fuel was used for this and for what? Sport?

Interesting!! Explain please!!
