  • Greasing the wheel bearings for the first time since owning the 22 Polaris 570. Because these bearing are non serviceable, the special grease tool is needed to grease these bearings. It is a great idea to do this often if you want to avoid replacing the bearings often, which can be difficult.

    You need to tighten up the nozzle that goes around the grease fitting on the tool that way grease won’t leak out

    • @VanLoweLawnCare
      @VanLoweLawnCare  6 місяців тому

      Not sure how you can tighten up where the grease gun hooks to the grease fitting. It's coming out from between the grease gun fitting and grease nipple. Not from the nipple itself on the tool, or the coupler where it connects to my grease gun. The bearing greasers were given to me, so I'm sure the leftover grease inside them hardened up a bit. I grease plenty of other equipment and don't have an issue.

      @@VanLoweLawnCare I tried several ends on my grease gun until I got it to work correctly. also, you might try different zerks. some of these Chinese ones are garbage from the factory. If there's clearance issues like I had with my rear greaser, a 45 degree zerk helped. You might need to file the base of the new zerk in the opening so the shaft fits past it when installing the tool. Hope this helps. :)

    I grease them until I see a little bit come out around the seal

    • @VanLoweLawnCare
      @VanLoweLawnCare  3 місяці тому

      I'd be worried that you would be compromising the seal by doing that. But I guess that doesn't matter since they are split bearings and we are greasing them anyways🤷🤦

      @@VanLoweLawnCare The seals on the bearings are worthless from the day one. Keep it pumped full, the grease is the only thing actually keeping the water out.

    • @kevinlj3497
      @kevinlj3497 Місяць тому +1

      Polaris in their infinite wisdom made the inner race out of two pieces, so there is split in the middle. that is where the grease tool is able to get the grease to go in; Consequently that's where all the water and dirt works it way in also. Its a junk design that's been a headache for years. I pump the bearing until it looks like a bukkake shoot then pack grease all in around the shaft and in the hole before install the hub and watch it all squirt out around the edges while twisting the nut back on. My rig is in the creak and mud every weekend and this is the only way to keep my bearings for more than 250 miles... which is all they last if you don't.

    I have grease my friends wheel bearing on their machines and it can take up to 25 to 30 pumps

      I've heard you want to grease them, but not over grease them. That's why I did 10-15 pumps. Not saying your wrong and not saying I'm right.

    What’s the name of that fitting you used to get grease in there?

    • @VanLoweLawnCare
      @VanLoweLawnCare  6 місяців тому +1

      It's called a wheel Bearing Greaser. You can get them anywhere. I don't know where these came from as they were given to me in a box full of parts.

    I've got a '17 570, would that bearing grease tool work on it? If so, where can I buy one?

    • @VanLoweLawnCare
      @VanLoweLawnCare  3 місяці тому +1

      I believe they are the same size bearings in a '17 and '22. So yes it should work. You can find the greaser on eBay and Amazon

  • @kevinlj3497
    @kevinlj3497 Місяць тому

    It would help if the grease actually made it into the zerk, the tool and into the bearing. You didn't grease a damn thing other than your fingers. lol

    • @VanLoweLawnCare
      @VanLoweLawnCare  Місяць тому

      😂 The problem you are missing here is these greasers were given to me and I had no idea how long they sat. So the grease hardened up in the greasers, took a few pumps to get it going. But it did indeed grease the bearings
