When I woke up, turned on toasted tv and started watching a cartoon about a skinny rubber crqckhead that looks more like a farmers hand than a pirate going around kicking people’s asses by stretching himself, I didn’t think that 15 years later I’d be studying the astrolomy of the world and looking into the lore and history.
Something that's been on my mind since the beginning of Elbaf has been the sheer size their country has to be. For the island to be big enough to still be a "normal" sized country from the giant's perspective with multiple villages and regions, it has to be immensely bigger than any other island in the One Piece world. The only help is Oda dividing the land into 3 sections with the Treasure Tree Adam.
if you think about how islands in our world can be massive to us but still look very tiny on the maps, then it´s probably the case for Elbaph...it may not be the same size or bigger than any of the 4 main islands of Japan, for example, but it´s still pretty huge
I differ with Luffy’s journey starting in February. Luffy’s birthdate is May 5th. Ace and Luffy agreed that they would go to their journeys as soon as they reach 17 years old. Assuming as Luffy left as soon as he reached 17, the February date would not be accurate since he would still be 16 when that happened
In the One Piece world everyone is considered to go up a year in age at the start of the new year. So, even though his birthday had not happened yet in February, he would indeed be considered 17 years old. Pretty sure I heard this from Artur himself, but it could have been someone else.
@@ProbablyNotProbable It was probably from Artur. But yes, the people of the One Piece world most likely follow the old Japanese tradition of all birthdays falling on New Years Day. Well it's not actually that old of a tradition since, if my source is reliable, Japan started celebrating individual birthdays only around the 1950s.
Huh. I just figured that he set sail on his 17th birthday in May, and then when we see him come out of a barrel, that would be in February. I know it’s a stretch bc of the 9-month empty period, but it makes a little bit of sense, because when he set sail he was in a boat, and when we first see him introduced in the modern day he’s in a barrel, so some stuff had to have happened in between. Yeah, I doubt it was 9 months worth of stuff, but still I feel like after setting out to sea ya don’t just find these kinds of amazing people and create a crew in the span of a few weeks. But ALSO it’s Oda’s story, and if it’s not important to the story he doesn’t really have to make every detail perfect.
@@cucumberwatermelon the anime got it wrong. In the manga, Luffy is caught by a whirpool in chapter 2 right after leaving Dawn island and wrecks his boat. Then he hid in a barrell that got him on shore and Koby hauled it on Alvira's ship to get on the next island. That episode 1's Luffy is caught floating inside a barrel didn't happen. And even if 9 months had passed, Luffy's journey still would've started on May
Having an identical calendar system doesn’t prove Blue Star is the same size as Earth. Calendar length is based on how long it takes to make a full rotation around the celestial body it orbits. This is unrelated to size of the orbiting body, but is more directly related to how far away from that celestial body is orbits and the speed it orbits that body. Length of day also doesn’t tell us anything about the size of Blue Star. Day length is determined by rotational speed. Venus a planet very close to the size of Earth as an example has a day that is 5,832 hours long (or 243 Earth Days long).
I think he was just saying that given that Oda made the day length and year length the same as Earth it would be a reasonable assumption that he would also choose to mimic the Earth's size. I don't think he was saying that size is dictated by day/year length.
I once did a speech about one piece for class and I quoted you artur. And to give you credibility I called you "the highest authority on one piece in the western world" and I stand by that claim!!

@@matthewryan264 In chapter 911 we can see that Tama celebrates the day of her birth. And it is even explicitly said to be a different day than new years. I know this would get me killed, but how does the government justify having a calendar marking year 1524 when the Celestial Dragons "created" the World 800 years ago?
They didn't "create the world" they created the world gov, so the founders info, why they did it, and who was in charge before are all unknown. But the 100 year gap is just for those 100 years, so if you look back 1000 years there is still history there. Maybe there was a event so important to marking a new era of time. Regarding the 50km river width thing, I agree that Oda has always been pretty bad with throwing out numerical measurements like that, but Alabasta in particular felt like it had a lot of them. Like the rebel army is said to have TWO MILLION fighters during the final confrontation, at least 300,000 of them being defected royal soldiers. And the remaining royal soldiers are still able to fight them evenly. It seems somewhat common for authors to completely misjudge the scale of things when throwing out numbers, like famously when George R.R. Martin saw the scale of The Wall in the TV show he asked why it was so big, and the show makers were just like "uh George that's how big 700 feet tall is."
Personally, I think that it's just as likely for the calendar system and rotation of the planet matching up to be an Oda 'whoopsie, didn't consider the implications of that at the time.' thing as Zunesha's original size. I don't know how *much* bigger I think their planet is necessarily but I feel like it has to be because we've explored *so much* and yet still have explored *so little* of the world.

One Piece characters go by the old Japanese tradition of ALL BIRTHDAY’S being New Years Day. Luffy was born in May. He wouldn’t turn 1 the next May, he turned 1 seven months later in January.
@goodhelmetjunior3399 yet Sabo was was born in March and is 22 years old as if he turned 22 on his birthday if it was not until the new year he would be 21 rn which he isn't. 🤦
Have you noticed how Shimotsuki Island looks like Hokkaido? I am starting to believe that the One Piece World is an Alternate Future of Earth. After all the Planets on the Solar System also have the names of ours.
that is actually the first time I see someone using that argument about the moon phases, days, and years in one piece to match it with year, and yeah it makes A LOT of sense.
Question for future videos: -Religions in One Piece exists, what exactly we do know about them? At least we know: religion with cross on churches and graves, religion used in Alabasta, religion used in Skypiea and religion that Kuma praised. Is the religion somehow in any power position? Did "Oda forgot" churches and priests or they are just teachers and preachers such as our medieval times? Since the grave of Bellmere that i have this question. Crosses on graves are because christianity, Ussop used a cross to fight ghosts and weedings have crosses too. However those churches are not as important or Oda did not show them as much.
@@gandalf163 there is no reference to those religions. I mean, exists crosses in graves and Sengoku is a Buda. However we never found a person being a christian or buddist. The closest to one of them is the book that Kuma had in Thriller Bark. In my opinion, OnePiece is set in a futuristic world after a cataclysm and some of the old knowledge is part from our future.
I would like to mention, we basically know how Bunbuku was created just from inference. Queen is on Wano, and we know he was a college of Vegapunk on Punk Hazard. He likely knew about Vegapunk's Devil Fruit experiments, as well as knew the method of creating it. I find it highly likely Queen created Bunbuku, maybe for fun, or just out of boredom. The tanuki teapot just happened to end up in Sukiyaki's possession.
If you take the average speed of a caravel (like the Merry) and multiply it by the time spent on the grand line, you get about half the circumference of earth. Propably just a coincident, but it matches pretty well.
One thing is for certain, in terms of scale, it is one of the absolute largest, and most massive planets in all of fiction. For the smaller sized islands to still be the size of a country, and there to be miles upon miles of open sea between them to the point where it is still considered +80% water is insane to think of.
I also can’t wait to see the parallel of Koby & Luffy and Garp & Roger. Koby & Luffy will most definitely bridge the world of pirates and marines together, and it will probably be very similar as to when Garp & Roger fought together.
If it’s the year 1524, I wonder how closely that relates to our world, as the gregorian calandar system zero point reference is when the jesus dies… Maybe that could suggest that OG Nika was alive 1524 years ago
One Thing that Bugs me about the History of One Piece is that The Flying Dutchman exists in it along with the actual Van der Decken, which have a real Life Date of when they sunk. His Descendant, Vander Decken IX is still around
idk i really dont like that pre-timeskip is around 3 months, i feel like oda absolutely did not intend that when he was writing it week to week, and its probably somewhat of a mistake. for example, the very emotional fight between luffy and usopp in water 7, where usopp put up a better fight than anyone could have expected because he was close to luffy and knew him... happened only a month and a half after they met? i dont believe that. if it was around 6 months, i could believe that. but i cant believe that it was oda's intent for that scene to happen only a month and a half into the journey. i think he messed up by not adding more time, but there's no going back and retconning it now
I also argue that with most voyages between islands, we don’t know how much time is taking place. It’s simply not good story telling to spend that much focus on periods that essentially nothing is happening.
If you stationed a bunch of people that you had vivre cards for on many of the islands/continents you could simply use triangulation to navigate anywhere on the planet. Plus, you don't need anymore than 3 road ponegliphs and you could sail from one towards the opposite one and you'd hit Laugh Tale at some point
I like the Video a lot because it's accurate and interesting. Keep it up UA-cam I just randomly found. I'm low-key getting angry that I found out about you only like a handful of minutes ago

3:05 I distinctively remember Water 7's population to be stated at 30 million, as the big number raised my eyebrows, but I couldn't find the chapter. Maybe it was anime-only? Also, translators do mess up big numbers time to time. 8:24 Yeah, it was said to be 400 years ago regardless of date, but the Great Pirate Era starting at a nice even 1500 makes a compelling argument. Same thing with the Void Century: people didn't start saying "802 years ago" after the timeskip. But at least we can date Noland's lifespan almost to the day: 9 October 1088 - May 1128. Still, knowing the exact current year would be nice for historical references: for instance, giving Mother Carmel's lifespan as 21 December 1381 - 6 January 1462 would be less clumsy that "died 62 years ago, aged 81". 11:44 Not erasing the time before the Void Century is pretty interesting, as even the law-abiding historians should've noticed some major differences before and after the period... especially the dramatic rise in sea level. This also means that the Great Kingdom must've emerged during the Void Century, making it relatively short-lived historically speaking, but its technology must've advanced at warp speed.
Could "marine headquarters" mean that that's where they were trained? We saw koby and co. getting trained by garp at HQ, but I have to believe it'd be too much trouble to bring every new recruit from every blue all the way to marineford to train
This dude needs an editor. Or someone to watch his video before he posts it and tell him which little mistakes need to be fixed…..the time skip was 2 months, post skip was 3 months making 2 years and 2 months total? Imu definitely met imu though….. I just don’t understand how he actually read these things back to us and recorded his voice reading it and STILL didn’t catch the mistake lol crazy…..
...if the pre-timeskip lasted 3 months and the post-timeskip lasted 2 months, wouldn't the total time of Luffy's journey currently be 2 years and FIVE months? It wasn't a 2-year timeskip from Romance Dawn, it was a 2-year timeskip from Sabaody Archipelago...
My lore question: “did shanks lose an arm to nerf himself? And if he still had both, how strong is he in power scaling terms?” (This is a joke since power scaling can be cringe especially in One Piece)
Even though I agree that the one piece planet is earth-sized, it having a 365-year doesn't matter. But the moon having a 28 day period is indeed a good sign, thx!
The planets name is earth. Roger litterly says that during the execution , "dreams, destiny, so long as people who seek freedom "in this world, these things shall not vanish from the earth
Hold on, that timeline doesn't line up since the time between the crew's separation and meeting again on Sabody would have been exactly 2 years, 3D2Y.

I can't help but wonder what event caused the One Piece calendar to start roughly 1500 years ago since we know things like the Tree of Knowledge(5000+ years) existed even before the current calendar
17:07 When you Make Tea the TEA POT ABSORBS some of the Tea (Eating it)
The pre-timeskip lasting only 2/3 months is confusing. Koby went from scrawny wimp to super-strong within that time frame? That seems...implausible.
So is Garp being able to throw a cannonball as if its a basketball but this is anime. It doesn't use real life logic. Koby trained under Garp, so it is likely that's how he achieved something so impossible. /lh
It's hilarious that Luffy has spent more time with Rayleigh than with the rest of the Strawhats.
I love this format!!!
Great video as always! Since the 5 elders have Conquerer's haki, Imu should likely have it too. Hmm... not sure if Doffy's plan to switch places with Imu would have worked since DF can be over powered by haki.
Love those videos, glad you were inspired by them 👍
It brought more questions than answers, but the idea of the planet being bigger seems more rational knowing that there are giants and giant monsters.
It was stated that Luffy left on his birthday when he turned 17. So he would have started his journey in May.
15:04 Imu did meet Imu!
Needed that laugh bro, cheers!🙏🏾
I really enjoyed this video. Super creative!!
I thought the One Piece planet was called "Vearth"?
@@LucasBJJKarate lol only on skypiea as far as we know
The skypeans referred to dirt/solid ground itself as vearth.
Which is just like the name Earth, from the german word erda
@@anthonymacconnell8817 Erde*
vearth is how the sky people refer to any object from the "blue sea", idk how you came to the conclusion that that was the name of the planet
ThankYOU ARTUR i love your content especially icebergs lol
Oda has stated the one piece world is 50 times bigger than our earth
That last set of questions had a very Oda like answer. Glorious.
Amazing video!
ismt there 170 nations in the WG or did Spandam say "The world Government isade up of OVER 170 nations" ?
also i love this ONE PIECE SUPPORT
Thanks for the video!
Question for future videos:
-Religions in One Piece exists, what exactly we do know about them? At least we know: religion with cross on churches and graves, religion used in Alabasta, religion used in Skypiea and religion that Kuma praised. Is the religion somehow in any power position? Did "Oda forgot" churches and priests or they are just teachers and preachers such as our medieval times?
Since the grave of Bellmere that i have this question. Crosses on graves are because christianity, Ussop used a cross to fight ghosts and weedings have crosses too. However those churches are not as important or Oda did not show them as much.
Gecko Moriah in an earlier draft was supposed to be a pastor with a split personality and don't forget Big Mam's foster parent Mother Carmel
@mathieuleader8601 Moriah was a pastor??? New news!
Christianity and Buddhism exists in op world
@@gandalf163 there is no reference to those religions.
One Piece’s planet being our Earth in the distant future seems more likely when you consider the entire planet is flooded
not really
I love that he chose the p*op question just to answer "Yes"
I also can’t wait to see the parallel of Koby & Luffy and Garp & Roger. Koby & Luffy will most definitely bridge the world of pirates and marines together, and it will probably be very similar as to when Garp & Roger fought together.
If it’s the year 1524, I wonder how closely that relates to our world, as the gregorian calandar system zero point reference is when the jesus dies… Maybe that could suggest that OG Nika was alive 1524 years ago
This is like if Oda took the SBS seriously
One Thing that Bugs me about the History of One Piece is that The Flying Dutchman exists in it along with the actual Van der Decken, which have a real Life Date of when they sunk. His Descendant, Vander Decken IX is still around
big fan of all the octopath music being used
idk i really dont like that pre-timeskip is around 3 months, i feel like oda absolutely did not intend that when he was writing it week to week, and its probably somewhat of a mistake. for example, the very emotional fight between luffy and usopp in water 7, where usopp put up a better fight than anyone could have expected because he was close to luffy and knew him... happened only a month and a half after they met? i dont believe that. if it was around 6 months, i could believe that. but i cant believe that it was oda's intent for that scene to happen only a month and a half into the journey. i think he messed up by not adding more time, but there's no going back and retconning it now
I also argue that with most voyages between islands, we don’t know how much time is taking place. It’s simply not good story telling to spend that much focus on periods that essentially nothing is happening.
I thought Doflamingo learned it after finding some hidden documents in Dressrosa from his ancient ancestors
Not if the fourth coordinate indicates height, deep
I like the Video a lot because it's accurate and interesting. Keep it up UA-cam I just randomly found. I'm low-key getting angry that I found out about you only like a handful of minutes ago
Haw did you transform my map into a 3D globe !!!?!
It’s earth…. Gourmet world is inside of the grand line and the grand line wraps around earth, which is protected by Goku.
saving the best questions for the ending, classic!
I think i want some clarification on those final few questions sir! Those were the real important questions! 😅🤔🤨
Who prints the money in the One Piece World, paper money and coins.
The Koyogo language shouldn’t be canon, because the novel where it’s mentioned isn’t even written or supervised by Oda.
I'd say that Blue Star is bigger than our own planet, considering the sky Islands, giant jack, giants and sea kings
i would say that it is bigger as even if it uses a 24h clock, an hour could be longer then a normal hour
I'm a Logia devil fruit user, I ate the Sperm-Sperm-Fruit. I'm capable of turning my whole body into sperm.

Not true, this is a false information.
I am the one who uses sperm-sperm no mi. it's paramicia type DF. i can produce the substance but i can't transform into it.

You lure me into watching the video with click bait.
You are a true pirate.
You can find the whole one piece history on the wiki site, but like the idea.
I always thought the world was bigger and we only know on half of the world , my thought was always that's where they are building the bridge too. Or maybe they have to pass the whole triangle and giants black figures to get to the other part of the world.
real ones knows these questions come from the video with tekking im still going to watch it tho love your content ❤❤❤
Luffy started his adventure after his 17th birthday (May 5th)...so it definitely wasn't February lol
...if the pre-timeskip lasted 3 months and the post-timeskip lasted 2 months, wouldn't the total time of Luffy's journey currently be 2 years and FIVE months? It wasn't a 2-year timeskip from Romance Dawn, it was a 2-year timeskip from Sabaody Archipelago...

Aren't thest the questions from your Q&A collab with Tekkin
BRO COOKED WITH THIS VIDEO
My lore question: “did shanks lose an arm to nerf himself? And if he still had both, how strong is he in power scaling terms?” (This is a joke since power scaling can be cringe especially in One Piece)
YES
so the planet is... the all blue
Artur of Ohara knows a lot about One Piece lore. But can he explain how Pell didn't die?
It’s not possible to have that many moons if the planet is the same size of ours. It has to be bigger.
This line is translated way too many times and most of them don't have Earth in it
what if the planet is the one piece and they have been living on the treasure the whole time?
Hold on, that timeline doesn't line up since the time between the crew's separation and meeting again on Sabody would have been exactly 2 years, 3D2Y.
I will add one additional question. Is it possible to read road poneglyphs by voice of things from copies? If it isn't possible then only Straw Hats thanks to Robin can read them and reach Laught Tale.
So how do they poop?
Yes.
Ur Pfp matches the question
The expert is in the building
Tekking got Lulusia'ed out of this video lmao
It's crazy how this anime created a whole ass planet, whereas some other manga's mostly take place in one village, that's absolutely insane!
Ok?
nah that's pretty standard for fiction
