A coveted tremolo tech tool returns! The Key makes intonating an Original Floyd Rose®
tremolo easy and precise. Simply slip the Key into place over the
string lock screw, loosen the saddle mounting screw, and enjoy fingertip control of the saddle position for accurate intonation. You can find "The Key" and other great tech tools at www.fu-tone.com. - Фільми й анімація
LOL that intro riff and his calm "hey now"
Don’t forget, if your bridge is floating, make sure you’re fully in tune before you start the intonation process. If even one the strings is sharp or flat when you begin, then your bridge will not be in the “zero” position, where it needs to be for accurate intonation. I’m sure Adam is fully aware of this, but since he didn’t mention it I thought I’d add that.
Thank you!!! No script - usually winging it! 100% Accurate!
correct make sure in tune and also in tune when playing 12th fretted notes
FU - TONE I’ve seen other videos were he’s used a tool to lock the bridge in place before starting 👍🏻
@@tommygunn1901 what was it called?
Finally some does this with no pressure on the neck! Thank You, ❤🙏🎸
This is possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen
Ok...I bought these little devices for almost 20 years ago...back in early 2000s but now I finally learned how to use them 😂. What a silly sausage I am
So that is how it is done! Thanks a bunch for the tip!
Such an EXCELLENT tool that provides accuracy, convenience, & alleviates frustration. AWESOME!!!!
Thanks bro! it's 2023 but still useful.
This tools is a must have if you own an Original Floyd Rose. I just bought one today and I'm hasty to try it out, when I'll change my strings. Setting intonation on a tremolo bridge it's the most annoying thing I've ever done. I think that tool will save me a lot of time when I'll receive it!
This will save you a ton of time and your guitar will sound better! Let me know how you like it!
*Don’t forget to setup your trem by using the block method so it’s flat in line with the body using the claw screws in the back. Use new strings if possible.
Set your action and truss rod if needed. Careful with the truss rod! 👀
Then set your intonation last once the strings and trem springs are stretched and settled.*
There are some video’s on how to do that stuff on YT. These guys might have one too.
yes the truss rod needs to be adjusted VERY carefully in tiny increments! I learned this at a guitar setup workshop recently. Fortunately on my Suhr it is a piece of cake to adjust the hex screw on the headstock 1/8 inch.
Extremely clever concept (and product). I'll be ordering one of these very soon. (Just when I thought I'd seen every possible innovation, here comes a major one.)
Nicely done. Probably the best video I’ve seen on how to use "the Key". Clear, concise and none of the jabber from the "star" of the video. 🤘
Yes! Great video🎉❤
hey Adam - Awesome tool! And it works great! I've ussed it extensively. I got this one from FU-Tone.com a couple of years ago and has turned to be a must-have. I take it everywhere I go. It has made my life a lot easier with my Floyd Rose equipped guitars. You're the man! Cheers!
Brilliant tool.. Must have for all floyd rose floating bridges.
Aside from this being a very smart invention, owning one of these seems like an obvious no-brainer. I just placed an order. Looking forward to it (and ending the frustration of intonation adjustments on my Floyd Rose guitars). I'll most probably do a product review of it on my UA-cam page and help spread the word. So glad this tool is a real thing, lol. :)
agreed they make great products for Floyd Rose guitars. I use the trem blocker all the time to help ease the chore of changing strings.
Been looking for this for ever! They disappeared for years
Excellent video Adam!!
Thanks Adam.. Just got my Key, and have already been setting up my guitars w/ Floyd Rose bridges all day..(I have a bunch). Your videos have helped me a lot👍🏼🎸😎.. I look forward to ordering more F U products....
what do you do for flat notes and need to move the saddle forward?you push instead of using the thumb wheel?becuase the way i see it here in order for it to stay in place and hook up it can only go backwards with the thumb wheel
Wow that's a nifty little device! It would sure make the process easier
Great video tutorial and tool! I have an FU trem blocker that has greatly simplified the task of changing strings on my Floyd Rose equipped guitars and I will definitely order one of these clever intonation tools.
Thanks for the feedback!!
Very informative video!! I love watching stuff like this 👍
Thank you!
Glad to see I’m not the only one that pulls the string aside to unlock the saddle -vs- detuning to slack
just what I was wondering, too. my guess is you will have to remove the d-tuna and reinstall the original screw, then use the key. after the intonation lock srew is tightened you can reinstall the d-tuna. the price we pay for simplicity...
Great video and explanation, thanks for posting!
Thank you!
I've always set intonation with the guitar in Playing Position...for me, there is a difference.
Yes - I agree - good point to being up!
fretted - I was thinking the same. - I don't think it's "for you", because the neck will bend slightly when you face it up or down. In this case, the neck was probably bending "backwards" because it was hanging freely, causing the pitch to be slightly sharp. And while I appreciate he didn't use one of those silly "cradles", if he did it would likely have bent the beck "forward" and caused the pitch to be slightly flat.
It probably also depends on the weight of the neck and maybe how sturdy the wood is and all that, but I would definitely do it (or at least check the intonation) while having it on its side. There's the least chance for any flexing into directions that would cause to alter the pitch.
If this happens, it must be vintage guitars.
@@XChristianNoirX lol
@@iniquity7 This only happens to my vintage guitars. Especially thinners Gibsons like SG's/specials/deluxes. All my modern guitars don't have this problem, because they have stable necks.
Hell, my modern, $50 guitar doesn't have this problem.
What a great tool and great explanation, top man. Getting one asap.
Thank You!!!
Thanks for the video!
Adam been teaching us how to tune Floyd rose since the guitar world days 🙂 how I learned to set my Floyd
Simple and efficient!
sweet axe. good vid. I'm getting one!
Thank you I'm curious when you release the tension on a Floyd Rose even with a little bit the other strings are affected and if the fulcrum point isn't a 90-degree and stabilized that way during the process could that present a problem?
Thanks so much for all your help Adam! Your channel rocks, your products rock and so do you!!!
🤘=\//-/=🤘
Brilliant
this is pretty cool. wish the FR had a better way of adjusting the intonation, but no one said it was a perfect system. I would suggest getting a Tremol-no to anyone with the system. makes life way easier.
Does it work with all floyd rose type bridges that have been licensed by floyd rose, or just the ones that come specifically from floyd rose?
How would you use the intonation key with a d Tuna on the guitar if you had to intonate your guitar
Thanks!
I want this tool so i can stop paying stupid amount of money for techs when i can do this my own. :) thanks for video i feel brave now to face my Floyd rose misery :)
How does this work with the D Tuna?
Do these work on ibanez bridges as well? Specifically the edge 3?
Any tips on intonating those Schaller bridges with the barrel screws other than just doing it manually?
I have this issue too I have a 90s Charvel with a schaller FR and a mid 2000's Ibanez and it doesn't seem to do much apart from holding the bridge in place (the sliders still need to be moved manually which is the main issue) It would be nice if @fu-tone published a compatibility check for which units it can be used on.
good idea.is this fit with schaller floyd rose?
I can understand if you need to pull the saddle back, but, what if it needs to go forward? It appears that key only works pulling it back. Please explain.
The string tension will pull it forward. (Good question)
Idk what I'm doing it wrong but I link it in place then I undo the saddle screw and it just refuses to move
I winder if this tool would work on licensed Floyd Rose tremolo??
How your d tuna or have you tried the drop d machine head ?
neat tool ..I bet the intonation will be slightly off when your playing it though. Cuz your suppose to do it in playing position.
duh yea but for the purpose of the video he had to lay it down bro.....lol cmon man
You should make these out of stainless steel too so they don't break/strip out for techs that do this a lot.
what type of tools do u need for a floyd rose someone told me a bondus t wrench but what type
2.5mm and 3mm allen wrenches will fit the main bolts 3mm for the saddle locking bolts and the locking nut and the 2.5mm for the saddles
think this would work on a 7 string Lo-TRS? its set up pretty similar but i read reviews saying it didn't. just wanna know if this product would be a hit or miss for me
No - if the back angle of the "whale tail" is angled down towards the body. Make your saddle movs by hand in that case.
You need to get the ibanez e-jack tool.
unfortunately it does not work quite as well on the ge1996t :(
It pushes the screw down, so I have to assemble and disassemble a couple of times. Also seems like I need a better tuner.
cool
Handy little tool. I've been quite annoyed with setting up Floyds, trying to manipulate it to where I want it. Loosening and fastening the strings, shoving the saddle back and forth, wasting minutes and minutes... ugh
Although, I think it's an outdated design and a Kahler should be the go-to tremolo-system. But unfortunately just isn't that common, and most of us will still have a Floyd-type. So I'll probably purchase this tool.
Jim's Steaks. I miss Philly.
Good eye! Jim's is the best!
@@FloydUpgrades I can't say they are the best, but they are great. My personal best are the small mom and pops places. Mayonnaise, ketchup, fried onions, provolone.
@@richyrich5049 Oh yes - I love the little mom and pop's! There are some real sleepers out there! Only really Philly guys know what we are talking about!
will this work on an Ibanez TRT1? 1988 RG340. Just by eyeballing it, I dont see why not
Yes!
i ordered this key, then i noticed from other video the key won't work on rg with edge bridge tremolo.😢
@@nikaziz4923 I ordered one of these and they don't work on a TRS-101 too
Yeah, it's simple when you have the tools to do it with
Will this work on a 1000 series Floyd?
Yes
How do you use the key around EVH D-Tuna on low E?
Remove the D-Tuna - Use the original string lock screw and intonate the saddle. Then put the D-Tuan back on.
FU - TONE Thanks! Just ordered this morning! :)
FU - TONE Adam, I forgot to ask but does this device work on the Jackson JT590 or JT580 terms? ...or only Original Floyd designs?
Only on trems where the the back lip of the bridge is level to the body - straight out. Not the angled type.
Will this work on 1500 series.
What about if you have a D-Tuna, like yours?
Exactly what I was going to ask.
Will this work with a Ibanez edge zero II?
Sorry - not on that bridge.
Will it work on a Floyd Rose Special bridge?
Yes!
The thumb screw on mine will not budge with any amount of string tension.
It's a common complaint for this device.
@@willswanderings6912 the sky scraper intonation tool is much better than this but removing tension on the string is the best thing to do.
👌🏻👍🏻
It looks like you just intoned that b string on an A is there something I'm missing
This guitar is in half step tuning - so I intonated the B sting to A#. All of the same steps apply no matter what tuning you use.
@@FloydUpgrades I got a decent imitation Strat with good really nice action but the low E seems to like jump all over the place before it settles down to slightly sharp is that normal or does it need to go to the shop and have some professional do it watched a bunch of you guys intonate guitar's and I don't know if the application I used don't own a Peterson or anything so I'm trying applications online maybe I should just go buy a better tuner that I can use to intonate or I started wrong or I don't know maybe it does need to be professionally set up seems to play real nice and got that Strat Twang
You could have a weird fret or something minor like that. You don't need a Peterson. Even this inexpensive Snark works well - www.fu-tone.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=91&products_id=241
Dorf Googlesteen - For a tuner a Boss TU 3 (or even 2) is like a global standard. But you could also go for like a Korg, which have a bunch of very good ones. Just pick one you like and fits your budget, and it will probably last forever.
I got mine, and i have to say. I did exactly as shown but doesnt work at all. It doesnt turn easily as shown under string tensión
Please email me and we will schedule a service call. I will sort you out. adam@fu-tone.com
That Doesn't work on Ibanez RG's "floyd rose"...
No shit? Ya don't say? Who would ever think a tool for a Floyd doesn't work on something that is not a Floyd. Someone pinch me!
Fuck U -Tone hahaha, loved the video, good work man
With that tool, would you be able to do the intonation without detuning the string because the tool hold the saddle in place? I know without a tool you obviously have to detune or your saddle will pull all the way forward. I hate intonation☹️☹️☹️☹️
YES!
$25 for a tool that probably costs no more than a dollar to make?! I could see it if it was $10, MAYBE $15, but not $25! It will be copied and be available for $5-$10(the price it SHOULD have been to begin with!) soon enough!
Why do you tune the guitar laying flat on its back? When you have the guitar in playing position, the tuning will be shifted a few cents due to gravity/physics. A guitar should always be tuned in playing position, I thought this was common knowledge/practice among guitar techs?
