The claw move at the end is a revelation. So that is how you move everything symmetrically... Makes so much sense but I have not seen it even by any pro setup guys I've seen. You changed my guitar life. FU I LOVE YOU GUYS. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

My ULTIMATE wish list: An FU Tone titanium block, saddle blocks and stainless steel locking nut bolts. Those will cost me more than half the price of my whole guitar but will make my really good guitar a KILLER guitar. As an average working schlep helping to raise my grandkids, it’ll take a couple years of saving. It’ll be WELL worth it! Some day. Some day! Can’t wait! Thanks for giving something to shoot for Adam!

Go in stages. If you do brass block, Ti saddle Inserts (just the inserts), noiseless springs and claw - you can GREATLY improve your tone and performance for about a hundred bucks.

    • @TheAxe4Ever
      @TheAxe4Ever 3 роки тому

@@FloydUpgrades Very true. I already bought the noiseless springs and claw. A good friend of mine had gotten one of your titanium blocks a while back and I played it and my jaw hit the floor! But you are correct. If a brass block was good for Eddie Van Halen, it should be perfect for me! And yes, I meant the titanium inserts. I’ll take your advice. It’s much more do-able price wise and will sound killer.

These are great videos. I got my first Floyd guitar about 6 months ago, a dean from hell. I've been setting up, and modding my guitars for a few years, and they have to be perfect, or it drives me nuts now. Lol learning how to properly set up my Floyd has been an experience. I recently got a Schecter Hellraiser with a Floyd Rose 1500 in it from Korea. It has the EMG 81 and the sustainiac pickups. First, if you are going to block this so it can't move spray yourself with mace. The Floyd Rose is made for crazy stuff. I did everything he said as far as tuning. I basically detuned mine, blocked it, added a spring and tried it. I have the same strobe tuner he does and it tuned up exactly like he said in the video. Worked great. I have tried to make it go out of tune, solid as a rock. HEY NOW!!

I live watching masters at work. You are truly a master! I love working on guitars, but most of my work has been on basses and the non Floyd Rose aspects of guitars like changing out pickups. The first thing I’ve done to almost all my bases is put in a high mass bridge for better sustain. The only time I don’t have to is on my Geddy Lee signature Fenders. I now have three EVH guitars, one of them being a Wolfgang Special, and all of them I’m going to upgrade to at least a brass block and noiseless springs. I also have an Ibanez RG that I want to upgrade the tremolo, if possible. Thanks for videos and your products. And thank God for Eddie Van Halen. I really miss him.

I'm going to watch these videos a few more times over the next few days. I already have the noiseless springs installed. This weekend I will totally trick out the Floyd on my EVH 5150 Standard Stealth guitar. I have the red titanium string block screws, nut screws, intonation screws and the Naval Brass string blocks, and L shaped brass big block....all FU Tone parts. I can't wait. I have heard horror stories about trying to set intonation for a Floyd. I bought The Key from you, and with the videos that you provided, I think I can get it done. I feel that if I can set up and intonate my Gibsons, then I should be able to get my 5150 Standard Stealth guitar setup how I want it.
Thank you for making these videos.

Don't be afraid. Luthiers are getting hard to find. You have to leave your axe with someone else, and it could be weeks before you get it back. I'm a tradesman and work with my hands, but I believe most people can learn basic setups and even fret work or replace them. I wouldn't try to reset a neck. A lot is just common sense, and do things in little increments. I replaced my block on a P.R.S. se which is approaching C.E. specks. A great guitar. The brass big block is surprisingly heavier than the stock block and is a noticeable improvement. Everyone says don't touch your truss rod. Just do it in a tiny increments. The first time might take longer to perform. It's like learning a new song. Once you play it correctly, it all becomes easy. So don't wait for weeks to get something done that you can take pride of knowing that you did it yourself. Plus, you will save a bunch of money. And have it exactly like you prefer. It's really just physics.

The interesting thing is whether: if you put a brass or copper plate between the brass big block and the floyd bridge, it would bring a better effect with sound or no plate is needed at all. That garbage trash sound sucker shim you threw away is to help keep more tension on the spring arms on the saddles. It does count as mass. Here is an Idea. Make a block that has a taper at the bottom to compensate if you remove that shim. Just saying. I don't like when the tuner screws are loose. I find more tension on them helps them to not move if I brush up against them while playing and knock my guitar out of tune. I used to remove them. Now I just keep them on.

I agree with you on the part about the added mass but being that Adam has been doing this for a long time gives me the impression that he knows what he's talking about too. But hey ask them. Maybe it's something they might take into consideration. You never know until you try.

Its seems larger than the hole in the block. is there an end that goes in first ? and do yo tap it in.? I'm of the school of Never force. I don't see how the trem arm will stay pushed in ...or threaded into the hole. The hole appears to be smooth and loose without the plastic sleeve. With the sleeve in ...is it just friction that holds the arm? a bit over my head on this mod. Thanks , appreciate any suggestions or comments

put it back together and noticed the saddles aren't resting/laying flat.
The saddles are angles/slanted upward a bit.
Its like the tension bracket thingy is slightly pushing up against the string lock screws
Not allowing the saddles to lay flat/flush once you screw the string lock screws in.
Before I start bending the tension bracket to allowing the saddles to lay flat/flush.
Got any suggestions recommendations, before I reshape something that doesn't need to be?
I haven't put the floyd back into the guitar yet because I noticed the issue at hand.

I had a similar issue. I’m not sure how to resolve it. Please let me know what you find out.
I took out that plate and threw it away like Adam did. I was curious if that was part of the issue. I’m assuming Adam has done this million times and is right, but can anyone else speak to removing that plate. It puts the tail of the Floyd rose slightly closer to the body I think. I am dealing with an EVH fender Wolfgang

    • @allanreagan8159
      @allanreagan8159 3 роки тому

      @@erickimm5150
Don't know if your issue was/is the same as mine.
      Regarding my issue I did.
I very "slightly" gave each (whatever they are called, part of the bracket thingy's that touch the lock screws) a bend until the saddles lay flat.
seriously it doesn't take much to bend them.
      Very thin material.
Just enough of a bend where the saddles begin to touch, lay flat. Don't over bend. if you do over bend, bend them back up and re-bend till you get it right.
      Be gentle.
      Also, after I bent them.
I made sure the lock screws even all the way across. You don't want any of the lock screws uneven, straight/even all the way across. You want tension on the lock screws because they work with the fine turners.
But not like a see saw.
That's exactly what mine my saddles were like.
A freaking see saw, absolutely unacceptable to me.
I will in the future be replacing and upgrading the bracket/plate with a titanium one. Get rid of the cheap flimsy piece. Not much better then a tin can.
I could not find anything on youtube about my scenario. I guess nobody had a problem with too much tension on the the lock screws, pushing up the lock screws. Apparently I was one of the first.

The one thing I've found about trying to use the same strings is, your strings tend to indent slightly from your frets when you've first installed them, then when you go to set them up again... those small indents won't match up where they were... leading to intonation and tuning issues. I always just install a brand new set.
