I love that you actually talked about the ''oldest daughter syndrome'' in the context of adult life. I think the expectations and ambitions can sometimes be paralyzing when you have many opportunities and also you have to start preparing for the next thing, and the next thing and it can be exhausting sometimes.. But moments like this filled with casual magic while enjoying your podcast and seeing beyond the struggles gives me perspective and a sense of understanding as well as being understood. Thank you Jade❤️ !!!
wow, thank you so much!! such a valuable episode ! i feel like it would be cool to explore an ep about ADULTHOOD and all of the different sides of that
Jade you are something I look forward to every weeeeek ❤ I am in California Santa Barbara for a study year abroad and I am superrr excited to get into this Saturday night/ Sunday morning to get the energy UP for the weekend and being conscious and intentional the whole week ahead
Love this, it’s super relatable!! ❤️ As they say, comparison is the thief of joy which is so true and it’s so important to look inward and define what success looks like for oneself and not what others want for us (and remind ourselves of that) and try to live in alignment with that. As someone who’s also high-achiever, hustly I’ve realised no matter how much I “achieve” it will never feel enough, because there will always be someone who has done better or more and it’s important to understand your starting point, be grateful for what you have in this moment and trust in your journey 💕 thank you Jade and Maddie for this episode 💫
Today I'm binging all the episodes here and catching up and this episode was literally such a goldmine. All these amazing tips about handling your finances and living on your own and making a home were really targeted for me. I was taking notes left and right. I also checked out Maddie and she is am amazing creator. I liked her content a lot. I'm also a DIY girl and her DIY videos and projects are so fun to watch and really inspiring as well. Jade you were so amazing in this episode. Your hosting skills were amazing and 36:23 to 36:46 part of the video shows. The two of you talking about all this big important stuff and your guest just genuinely enjoying being on the show. You were amazing.
AMAZING JADE! I love this. Thank you for creating such a safe and positive space for us to share with you. I am so proud of how far you've come! Keep on evolving and growing into this amazing version of yourself. I can't wait for the next episode! ❤❤❤
loved the podcast! just wanted to let you know that "parentification" is a much more accurate (though not trending) term to describe "eldest daughter syndrome". this experience happens regardless of the child's age/siblings, and is more about the parent fulfilling their needs through them - with anything from expectations on the child, emotional labour, household labour, etc.
I'm 18 and I've already had an ISA for a year and I'm going into my second year of having an ISA! Super excited to see finances being talked about on this podcast.😁
My mouth literally opened and I gasped as I saw Ms. Maddie in the cover picture. You are literally having my favourite content creators in the podcast. Like wow! I can't wait to listen this!!
Hey Jade! Have been following you for years and love seeing you develop yourself as a person. I am curious as to why so far you've only invited guests to your podcast who are in their twenties themselves to talk about these topics. Might this lead to an echo chamber effect and that actually people who are older may have very valuable views about this phase of life that could add a constructive perspective?
It's like we're being conditioned from the beginning to believe that happiness is always that which is just out of reach - reserved for the better-than-now version of ourselves. Instead of something can be found in the present moment. It's a problem in and of its own but it also naturally fuels comparison between self and others. In retrospect there's only been few occasions that I remember education placing emphasis in appreciating the little things, the here and now. Plus we're explicitly encouraged to pursue things, to transform and move, but we're never explicitly encouraged to be still and take it slow, except to take a break. But that's like framing 'recharge' as the primary utility of slowing down, not appreciation for what's around you, what you have, the people and nature you can immediately connect with. It feels so unexplored and overlooked that so much of it is hard to put into words.
great ep - not sure if you have any control over the ad placement, but it was right in the middle of the opening meditation, which was a tad annoying but other than that loved it!
ahh such a great conversation we had!! ❤❤ Thank you so much for having me!
I adore you!!!

That seems to place more blame & negative stuff on the parents than Jade & Maddie were implying with their own situations
Can relate to do this so much has 25 year old. Nice to be reminded where are you are meant to be.

I might be wrong or expressing inaccurately, but writing always helps give shape to the problem and make the gaps more visible
Love your podcast ❤❤ Jade from Fiji
