    I would have a 992 over a used supercar but it's an interesting question for sure! Great content 🙂

      Even over the previous generation Turbo S Sam? As an every day car I would still take the 992 over any of those to be honest. It’s likely more economical to run than anything else I saw used there too lol.

    Hi Steve, Great video! When it comes to Astons.. I've also found myself looking at these recently.. despite my current Porsche order, it doesn't hurt to look.. The upkeep of Astons can be ruinous compared with a Porsche though.. I know someone with one.. Still.. it's hard to ignore them! So much drama and they're universally well received. Whatever you do though, don't touch a California!!!!! I had a later California T for three weeks... It was awful! It had the torsional rigidity of a wet shoe box with the roof down.. and didn't instil you with much confidence when pressing on. It felt like a backwards step from my 991.2 C2S. My 2ps worth.

      Hey Cowan! No that feedback on the Ferrari is appreciated. I just keep finding myself checking out the prices on all Ferraris. I always felt they would be a fair weather garage queen though and I would need to wait for it to be a second car in the future. Maybe that explains why those California cars haven't really held as well value wise behind the 360/430/458 type models?
      I have always had a soft spot for the Astons, it's just the look of them really but yes I have heard the same about running and maintenance. I was hoping the new generations after the Ford ownership might be better but it became more independent again running Merc AMG engines? There was a local dealer opened up next to Porsche near me but I have never been in.
      Trying to find something size wise around the 911 and getting the combination of GT and sports performance is pretty hard I think if you only want to own 1 car at a time.
      My friend was running a new Aston Vantage on a cracking 2 year finance deal. It was as cheap as I was paying for the 992 finance to purchase.

    I just bought a certified R8 V10 RWD for the price of a 992 GTS. Yes, you can!

    The problem is Steve is that many of the models were 8 years old or more … therefore maintenance costs will rise and the bills for the Ferrari , lambo or Maserati can be frightening …
    So the problem is further compounded with trying to sell them on , it is extremely difficult to sell privately those brands ( I know ) … so you go round in a big circle and come back to a another Porsche ????

      Yes that really is the thing about looking used over new isn't it. Although there are depreciated supercars out there, the value on servicing and maintenance will likely just go up and up. From my point of view it would be my only car so I can only agree with you on everything you say. If it were a second car I could likely afford to take a gamble knowing it wasn't something I was relying on to drive. Take my time and really find a good one.
      I went through looking like this before I ordered the 992 to begin with so as you say it likely is another circle back to another Porsche. What do you think about the 991 Turbo S used as an option over another 992 C2 new?

  • @gordonfreeman5689
    @gordonfreeman5689 2 роки тому +1

    991 Turbo is the best depreciation on the market. I can't believe how many cars it destroys just to get depreciated like that. 991 gen needs some respect in my opinion.

      I'm quite surprised how low some of the prices on the Turbo S models are after taking a look. I really thought based on the slow delivery on orders for new ones they would be sitting higher than they are.

    Some nice cars there that you are looking at, as someone else mentioned you could be looking at some pretty expensive maintenance bills on some of them. None of these cars are inexpensive to maintain but certainly some of the Italian cars will be very expensive. Good luck in your hunt.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  2 роки тому

      Absolutely. That is what has always frightened me off. I have looked around every time I have found myself between cars and I always end up going back for something new. Which is a shame as there seems like some good choices around but with only wanting one car I have to take the most sensible choice. Maybe when I have the space for a weekend car I can dip my toes into something older and be able to have to parked up if it needs work.

      @@Get10Yards Another thing about some of those cars is that they have already taken a considerable hit on depreciation but some of them will still continue on the same trajectory. I took delivery of a new 911 (very similar to the one you had) in June. One of my reasons for choosing a 911 is that they hold their value quite well, at least here in the US they do. I plan on keeping this car for quite a few years but I have to be honest the cost of maintenance and more so repairs down the road does cause me concern. Some of those Italian cars would scare the bejesus out of me.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  2 роки тому

      @@phila6188 Yeah I watch a few other channels on here that run some of the cars I have seen. Some of the work they have needed cost wise is scary! From what I have seen you are right they do seem to hold value better. I wonder if it has anything to do with the added import taxes? We dont have that in the UK so they hold value but not as well as they seem to do in the US from what I have seen. I really thought I would keep mine for some time but the pandemic and the way the market has been, it just seemed like too go an option to get out and start again for very little cost.

    No way on the I8...that hybrid tech is getting on. There are KIA models coming onto the market that would embarrass it to no end.
    Love the idea of the AMG GT...that era is pre OPF sound great and you can make them sound even better.

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  2 роки тому

      Yeah I have heard a couple of AMG GT cars go past me and they do sound great. I just think they are different enough looking to everything else.
      I took a look at the I8 just due to it being a bit different. Someone else actually commented that the I8 roadster was a very low production number car and might be a good future investment due to it's rarity.

      @@Get10Yards how do amg gt older/used cars hold up residual value wise? is it better then older porsche 911s - feel like they are unrivalled?

    Good info Steve. Do these vehicles have a warranty? Luxury auto makers like Porsche offer a limited warranty with their certified preowned CPO cars. Hope all is well. Cheers 😎

    • @Get10Yards
      @Get10Yards  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Gilbert! All well here hope all is well with you. Indeed I think if I were to get some of those from the authorised dealers the Porsche as a kick off would have it’s 2 year warranty. I suspect on anything else I think it’s 6 or 12 months from the luxury dealer if you are buying from a reputable one. Either that or I believe in most cases if you go to a brand dealer and get an inspection done you can then purchase a warranty period. As long as they don’t find anything wrong on the car. I think I would go to the brand dealer to get something nearly new just for that specific reason. Fully checked and brand extended warranty if it’s possible.

    Your Porsche 992 that you sold was better then all these cars. I consider all these cars to be a step down to what you had.

      i think you are right. its hard to beat the 911 as an all round car for the money compared to new and used available. used supercar running costs are going to be a lot more too.
