I work at CeX and we literally are told to make all customers aware that it’s a reproduction cover so it whoever served you it’s their fault. The disc itself is real it’s just the print that is reproduced
Shannon Eagle and here's the problem if your selling a game with the repro cover at full price its illegal that is the reason why CEX got shut down in the U.S.
@@thestardustgamer296 wait... Cex got shut down because they violated laws? Do tell...
@@prankster101 Yes the United States has strict copyright laws and on many occasions the us chain had been caught selling stolen goods
@@thestardustgamer296 interesting... I always thought that they shut down because of the supposed death of retail.
I know that the company is somewhat scummy now, but I didn't think that it was purposefully breaking laws in order to make a fast buck.
Although their prices for recent games (along with hardware) are an absolute rip-off.
@@prankster101 it was and they were warned by the police to stop and they kept going
I've bought, played and traded back loads of games with CEX that I couldn't have done without them. For someone with a low budget they're fantastic. Don't let this guy put you off them.

I guess because of the high price? I dunno, haven't used them in years.
They don't produce the games anymore? You don't have a choice
Thanks for saving me watching the video, thought it was going to be something jucie
I love the CeX in Ireland. They offer fair prices for games and great for buying wii games and used games for my ps4. If you want to save money on games it's a great place

Well I can’t agree , here it’s different we don’t have scams even tho some of consoles are bought by other people they didn’t even use em

The game isn't fake.. it's a printed cover because the original would have been damaged.

Every CEX I have been in stinks of B.O.
B.O, Amber Leaf and piss
jimmy fandago this is so true
did you ever consider that YOU were the source of the B.O .
for real ! lol
1st time, I went in, thats what I could smell. it was busy and quite a few ppl looking around as if to say "Can anyone else smell B.O??" I just thought it was a one off...
2nd time, about 6months later (same store)"B.O CENTRAL" I shit you not... I was walking over to the section I was gonna look at .. And it just got stronger .. I said " It Fucking stinks man !!" just loud enuff so ppl around me knew the score and didnt think it was me ..
That is not a one person smell thats .. All the staff's coats and shit in the back, next to the vents and it blows through out the store all day long.. or they do it on purpose to get you in and out quickly??
Has anyone brought online? if so, does the items or packaging have a B.O smell to them?
its probably from the dope fiends and burglars that are selling their dodgy merchandise in the store, obviously they are too busy smoking dope and robbing to have a bath, the smelly feckers
Just want to clear something up as I've worked for the company...
So a few things I've seen in the comments are a bit buggy.
1: Firstly, yes the covers are reprints as a lot of cases get lost in store, the games are 100% real but we print out media covers and put them in boxes so that we can sell the disc. For a serious collector I understand how that is a pain but I'd recommend fully checking over any product you are to buy before doing so. Without media covers a lot of our stock would be unsellable as boxes get lost incredibly easily (and are, surprisingly, stolen very often even though they're all empty).
2: Scratched/broken discs and DVDs happen a lot, yes. Often new starters don't know what to look for when it comes to what's okay to buy in and what isn't or something is accidentally missed whilst being bought in. That's why we offer a 2 year warrantee so that if you do happen to purchase a broken disc, we clean it for you, replace it or you can have a refund to store credit (which is our policy - 2 day return for voucher as second hand trading laws are very different to first hand).
3: Yes, fakes do come up, again when someone isn't sure on what they're looking for (lack of training, new starter etc) but if a fake is found we will offer a full cash/card refund if a genuine copy isn't available to exchange with as it's our error and we legally shouldn't be selling anything fake.
4: I see a lot of people saying to go to Game instead - I have also worked for Game in the past and though theirs are more official than CeX's, if a box is unavailable to match a disc they will make up a box using media covers. CeX print their media covers themselves - it's cheaper and more efficient for us (hence why the logo is on the back and why I suggest you check in the future - we sometimes receive official overstock media covers but it's a rare occurrence) whereas Game are sent in their official media covers in weekly packages (very rarely their own logo is on the back if it's had to be self printed - depending on the store and budget they also print their own media covers so don't think of Game as a 100% safe zone).
And finally, 5: Yes, CeX will charge £15 on something you'll barely get £10 for to make a profit. Believe it or not, not a lot of money actually comes into the stores when it comes to buys. Unfortunately the products need to be retailed at a much higher price than what we buy them for otherwise the store won't manage. We tend to go about 20-50% depending on the value of the item (a rough estimate regarding the price differences between items I've bought in which I've then printed labels for and put out for sale). It's also probably worthy mentioning that all Corporate CeX stores receive their prices from a pricing team within the company who look into items and calculate how much each item buys/sells for. Unfortunately we don't decide the prices in store, that is all overrun by a completely different sector of the company.
At the end of the day CeX is a business and a businesses goal is to make money. If you don't wish to shop there then fair enough although it's wise to be clear on how the company actually functions and things to look out for before dissing them completely.
Quick edit, not every box has a media cover insert - only those in which the original box has been misplaced.
Pixie Riot selling a game with a repro cover at full price is illegal both in the U.K. & the U.S. you dumbfuck that's the reason why CEX no longer exists in the U.S.
@@thestardustgamer296 you're a dumb fuck bud.. go read the retail law and also 2nd hand retail law. Embargos are in place for normal retailers. CEX is exempt. *Sigh*...
"I know my rights" - actually.. you dont..

well said
Imagine walking all the way back to Cex just to ask for a full refund because the cover isn’t old
You sound like a moron that'll pay full market price for a game with a fake cover.
As a dedicated employee of CeX myself I find this offending we have certain procedures that we have to follow when it comes to damaged stock. We take in dvds, blurays and games on a daily basis that have cracked cases which in some cases results in damage to the sleeves. When faced with this issue we send said price of software to our media centre where they reprint the cover with our logo on the inside. We are completely within our rights and in all cases have received permission to reprint these sleeves. If for arguments sake we made an exact copy of the sleeve whereby you could see no difference we could be liable to copyright infringement. Also you should notice when it comes to retro software like this there are three grades... Mint, Boxed and unboxed if the game is mint it must come with all original inserts i.e. instruction manuals, maps etc. And the case itself must be in immaculate condition with no wear and tear of any kind boxed just needs to be working and in its box and unboxed well that's pretty self explanatory. Be sure to check which of the three grades you are buying before you complain about the condition. Also if you buy online and an item is unwanted and has no manufacturing issues you have 14 days to return it to your local store. If you buy from in store you have 48 hours to return an unwanted item both of these time periods give you plenty of time to inspect your item and return it if unhappy so if you were that bothered you would have done so this to me just seems like an excuse to moan and make us seem like the villains when you could in fact be using this time to work with us to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. But all of this is covered in the terms and conditions so if you can't be bothered to read them which obviously you haven't then please stop wining and keep it to yourself don't expect others to help you if you're not willing to help yourself!
It’s not a scam when it’s public knowledge how cex trade and sell. It’s your fault you chose to buy from them. Stop complaining. Cex isn’t braking any laws. Just don’t deal with them simple
Its because people steal their empty cases so CEX are left with just the disc. In order for them to sell the game they have to reprint the front cover and sell it in the case. To be fair the don't say this on the front but inside to cover there is a CEX red stamp to say this is a reproduction sleeve from CEX. If you had checked this when you got it then you could of taken it to any CEX store and got a refund. If you are not happy track one down in a CEX and swap the cases lol then you will have an original just a thought
The reason doesn't matter. They're still willing selling fake cases and not informing the consumer. While also selling them at the boxed price. Which is usually way more than a loose disk.
It always stinks of sweat in CEX
Liam Geary I just shop at game or buy everything on the ps store
Bailey Pate GAME is a much bigger rip off then CeX will ever be though 😂🤣
The GamingDragon haha
Liam Geary nope I went to sell some games at CEX and learned they’d give me £40 I went to GAME and they gave me £90
The GamingDragon wow
Wouldn't you inspect the game 100% before purchase?
Sam Orchard I do that in Charity shops, check the discs if they’re scratched or anything
Krimzon Waters Charity shops used to do such great games for so cheap
Not fake anyways.
Every game store I've ever been to take the discs out of the cases when they put them on the display and only put them back in after you've already paid for the games. This was already standard practice when I was a kid in the early 2000's. I mean, I understand why they do it, but it doesn't exactly inspire customer trust. Charity shops tend to leave the discs in the cases, but it's obviously harder to find the game you want if you're looking for a specific game and they don't test the games before accepting them like game stores do.
@@LifeofBrad1 not bought from them in a while but I always ask to see the disk before I pay. Think I'm fortunate because the staff in my local shop were helpful and never said no.
"a company that has betrayed me" 😂😂😂
Hahah it’s a case you melt
Cant get it new if its out of print you donut
sl1ck mate when you pay 60 quid for a second hand game it’s considered premium! Also you say rather than a second hand store... yeah new game cube games are readily available you tit. He paid premium and shouldn’t have got a snide case
@sl1ck retro can only ever be second hand u numpty they cheat by making a case they should sell it cart only an at a cart price not complete in box when the cover is fake
I have to agree with sl1ck. If he’s a serious game collector, he wouldn’t be going to CEX, he would be going to a collectors fair or specialist outlet that deals with games.
CEX and other stores have a terms and conditions of sale available to read in the store. It states that some case art are reproductions. The ones that have a repro cover have the logo printed on the inside of it. It is the buyers responsibility to look for that massive clue as to whether it’s a genuine insert or not.
As for the price, if the going rate for a mint condition original is, say £60 and the local chain second hand store is selling them at £60, then it seems common sense that it’s probably over priced and therefore careful attention should be paid to the item before parting with the cash. This guy clearly shows that the case has the CEX logo inside. A serious collector would have taken the sleeve right out of the case to check its authenticity before paying.
There’s 2 consumer rights EVERY customer has.
1. The right to thoroughly inspect the merchandise before purchase.
2. The right to walk away.
If he looked at other cases, there may have been genuine sleeves in most of them. It his own fault for not examining the goods properly.
Man haven't heard melt for ages. Love it! Get over it you got sapped for cash you drip. Even if you got ripped off right in front of your eyes you wouldn't nut up and say anything. Dweeb

Crypto World Nobody got scammed, these people are just childish and butthurt.
I have no idea what you are talking about when you say 'fake' they just stamp the cover art.
David Kemble no. The insert is actually a laser jet copy. No biggie if you just want the game but has a massive impact on the value of the game if collecting.
this seems to confirm it www.jammaplus.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=78839&title=cex-dodgy-artworkcom
Free Breadsticks so what would the original insert be made of?
Free Breadsticks about as much as you telling me it was paper in the first place. Anyway, try not to worry about it too much. :)
Free Breadsticks I’m not totally convinced you have the capability to follow a thread and interpret and process the point that is being made. It’s been lovely talking to you anyway.
Moral of the story , know your consumer rights and don't chat pure shit on UA-cam
T-Slicz Productions true. Does it even matter that there is a CEX logo on the back? That’s ridiculous. The game is NOT fake. The case is. If you want it premium case, don’t go to CEX. It’s for second hand games. The case doesn’t matter. Your making a mountain out of a mole hill (or just a piece of gravel)
I absolutely hate CEX, they used to be sound back in the PS2 days, now they give you nothing and mark the price up so much

I’ve been scammed loads I bought a Wii classic controller pro and instead I got a Wii classic controller, I was told it wouldn’t happen again and then it happened again, also I ordered something and it never got delivered
Aizakku Analysis Hi there, I work at CeX. From what I’ve learned within the company, they tend to price things based on supply and demand. The reason why some games are so expensive (especially old gen games) is mainly because that’s the price they go for.
"Fakes"
Is it too much to ask to just enjoy the game?
If its "fake" why should he? God you kids today, you'll accept any goddamn shit when its not right won't ya! Fake junk shouldn't be out there on the market to begin with, you might want to address that factoid before defending any lame crap out there y'know.
Yes, you caught me I am actually 8 years old. You can obviously tell this by the fact that I care more about the actual game then the video game cover, shocking I know. Seriously? Why should he buy the game? To enjoy the game maybe? And to actually play it rather then admiring it on your shelf. I apologise for my immaturity about not having a temper tantrum about a box, I'll do it next time I buy a game from cex. Does that mean I'll be able to be mature like the rest of you?
Sarcasm aside, I get why he is pissed off but when you call a game 'fake' due to the cover art, it is taking it a bit too far tbh
Its his issue not ours, but having experience buying stuff from CEX i can kind of understand his position i'll admit. But yeah i wouldn't have made a video about it all though, i'll at least admit that much!
@Arakius • _ Oh, hello person replying to my 2 year old comment.
It's not fake! The game itself is real. I understand why you are frustrated but their not scamming or anyone else.
It's not a fake GAME, it's a fake or 3rd party reprint cover art/sleeve.
Yes they are. If I buy a game, that isn't sold as a reproduction copy with some warning then I'm expecting a 100% genuine product. The case, manual, disc, inserts/leaflets & cover art needs to be original printing or a reprint by the official maker THEMSELVES, not CEX.
Is it that hard to understand how this works? Example.
I collect stamps. I buy stamps and one day I realise some I purchased were fake, but I paid a lot of money for them and didn't get the ones expected (for myself or to re-sell it does not matter) what would you do? Spend 200 and get the wrong product and tell me you won't complain at all.
but CEX can't offer what they don't have, if they were offered the game without the leaflet and without the cover art, what do you expect them to do
Mocks How about do what any other normal business does... Not take an incomplete or faulty product? If it doesn't have the original stuff don't take the game to sell.
pescod96
Jeez.
What crawled up your arse?
wierd horribble goths that plague society with their introvert behaviors that put people off engaging them. what crawled up your ass?
Its a matter of transparency. Should CEX be selling the item for full price? If they want to. Should CEX at least make you aware the cover is not genuine? Yes. Most buyers wont give a shit, but as a collector I see the point of fustration. Live and learn.
If it was 49.99 with original and 49.98 for replacement. Does it matter if you wanna pay for it pay it if not move on.. plus in car you get go see the disc and know it won't be scratched up
Bro wants a premium feel from a second hand game 💀
I used to be a collector (before i sold on a lot to give my children more things for themselves) and if a cover print is actually close i never had a problem. You could do it yourself with google and some glossy paper for your printer. Done. No need to be a wetbag, man.
Mate it’s a cover. You’re talking like the disc is fake. I understand it’s a collection thing but they print their logo on it to say yes this is a reprint, they’re not being deceptive or hiding that’s it’s not the original cover. As a collector it’s your responsibility to make sure what you are buying is all legit by checking it over.
Matt Beardsmore when your selling said game with said repro cover at full price its a problem and illegal period
@@thestardustgamer296 it's just a cover. Nintendo have confirmed that they alow missing covers to be reprinted. The buyer needs to be aware of the Repro cover though

Firstly, it's not a "fake" game... it's a game with a reprinted cover. - However, they should NOT be selling re-printed covers unless its priced at disk only price, without a box. Also, It IS illegal to print and sell these covers too... again, if they are selling them at full price in box prices and not as disk only and making you aware this is a printout cover!
I bought futurama for ps2 in my local cex shop which was marked as £3.... but on the back, there was a price label for 99p (a sticker applied by cash generator a few doors away) .. as the cashier rang it up he said "that's £3 please" I replied..No! It's marked up as 99p on the back, the cashier peeled it off immediately and said I don't know why that is on there.. I laughed and said to him next time you get games from cash generator and resell them at a higher price make sure you peel that shit off before putting it on your shelves.
In hindsight I should have protested but I really wanted the game. 😔
Ebay
it's just £3
You do realise people buy things from one store and sometimes trade them in at another, right? Whoever bought that game in just didn't remove the old sticker.
Furthermore, this myth that if something has changed price and still priced up lower, that it has to be honoured? That's not true. The retailer reserves the right to remove any item from sale at any point in time, and does not have to honour anything mispriced.
Christ almighty I've never heard anything like this before
Imagine complaining for a game that cost £3😂
This is what happens when you try to "Collect" things without researching where the value comes from. Cex did not sell you this game as a collector item, they sold it to you as a game. Blunder on your part, not CEX.
never had issues with cex. no matter what ive bought; games, gpus, monitors everything. this guy is more worried about a premium aspect of a literal 2nd hand store. amazing service too
CEX used to be great years ago, back up until the late PS2 era or so then they really changed. There used to be loads of cool imports, good prices and huge variety then it went utterly SHIT for a few years, a bad patch and now with a resurgence in gaming they are big again but they seem to have got a little bit greedy. The odd good find here and there but I'll have to keep an eye out for these shenanigans.

@@Sundjer_Bob_Kockalone yeah. Walk down the street on piotrkowska in Lodz. I have been there a couple of times.
Call me jealous of your ability to overpay for overpriced rare games, but its collectors like yourself who are pushing up the retro prices for everyone else. Why why why pay £190 for frogger beyond? Its shit and your giving off about fake paper! I think the bigger problem is the number of youtube pratts doing showoff video's "Oh look at me and my expensive collection" really!
vorebiz well said mate! I collect games to play simply as that, have been doing so for about 30 years now. Don't care what my collection is worth today but i will be damned if i am gonna jump on the "buy it at any price" band wagon! What really got me about this post is, he says firstly that he normally buys the most expensive games for each system then works his way down! And secondly that he has gone back and bought further goods at Cex, even though they ripped him off! Like i said just cause you pay £190 for a game doesn't mean its worth £190, its just that you were stupid enough to follow the retro hype train. Example Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Sega Saturn lists on ebay for hundreds but who actually buys?
I remember when PS1 final fantasy games (VII through IX) were like 40 or 50 quid each a few years ago. Some of the boxed SNES mario goes up and down all the time as well.
The market is completely all over the place. The current moment in time definitely looks like a bubble. If anyone is buying a game for £190 because it's "rare" and they think it might be worth several times that in a few years then they're in the wrong hobby, as you say the games should be bought to be enjoyed ideally. If you want to collect-and-speculate almost any other collectable is better than this stuff, especially if you're paying ebay prices +20% at CEX.
vorebiz absolutely on the money with that view mate! I just get annoyed at the vast number of youtubers pushing prices through the roof. Collect for fun like the GameChasers or collect to play like MetalJesusRocks. The most i have payed recently was £42 for Metal Gear Twin Snakes on Gamecube, before that i picked up 3 collectors editions in a Game Store stock clearance. Mirrors edge big box collectors edition with statue, steelbook, tattoo and artbook £50, Mafia collectors edition with vinyl records, coasters, steelbook, artbook and season pass £45 and finally Doom collectors edition with steelbook and lightup statue £30. Would i have bought them at full retail not a F##king chance. So when i see these idiots buying Frogger Beyond at £190 i just despair. Ps i open every collectors edition i buy, i play the game, display the statues and i listen to the soundtracks.

To be honest, you're being a bit too hard on CeX. All my joycon replacements come from there and i got plenty of great xbox 360 games from there, imo it's a reliable store.

True that but they sell stuff for so much money and if you sell an item they give you *way* less than what they sell it for
@@SMG3Star ye but they have to make money and they dont sell for so much most things are half the price as if you get them new

I never minded getting store credit for refunds and trade-ins from Gamestation, because I knew they (at least at my local store) used to be trusted since they setup shop. Used to also go there all the time to buy games for very cheap that made my childhood a very fun one to say the least and they were even fair on their trade-in prices... Sadly they eventually closed some years later after I left college. Ever since, we've only had CeX and Cashconverters. Both of which don't give me that nostalgic and happy-go feeling my gamestation store used to give. You're only there to serve them, rather than it being a mutual thing.

No. it is fake, its not the original, if you're selling a product and advertising it as the genuine article then it should be. If its not the original cover it should state that it isn't the original. The only reason they're doing this is cos they know its worth less without the original, hence why you see games at GAME and other places in plain boxes and they're worth less.
You should’ve gone spec savers

The feckers tried to give me a penny for some games. I'm not even exaggerating. So I gave those titles to charity shop for free. I felt alot better than giving it away basically free to cex.
Who’s going to buy FIFA 14 for example. Hence why CEX buy for 1p and sell for £1
The cex that I go to it says on the front of the cover it says in bold letters: REPRODUCTION COVER... or something like that
Would you rather buy a game with a case and no cover? Even if you’re a collector you would want the full set, I wouldn’t be whining about them printing the cover, I even go to them to get covers printed.
I know I got black ops 2 from cex and it was laserburnt so I went back and they said we can't take it beecaue it's laserburnt but I got it laserburnt
The items you have purchased are not fake. If they were fake your gamecube wouldnt read them. What has happened is the previous owner has damaged the original cover so they have reprinted a cover for you. I personally dont like cex, but mate, a 10 minute rant about how the games are fake when they arent is unjustified and even slanderous. They have actually improved the quality of the product before they sold it to you. Perhaps you would have preferred the old one that was covered in mould and baby sick. They sell that game for above asking price sure but on the other hand a diamond doesnt depreciate in value because someone switched its container out, at least they cleaned it up for you
as a person who works for cex , we tell every customer if its a re print as we have to so whoever sold it to you is at fault , also my store at least will check games to make sure they arent fake or pirated ...also the re printing isnt a scam or a copyright issue we are allowed to do that but do keep in mind that everything in cex is second hand so why expect it to be perfect ?
You definitely jumped on that bandwagon. Just check the cover before you buy!
I was new to the scene before I found out they did this. If I knew I would have checked and I did jump on the bandwagon mainly to showcase that it's throughout the UK and not just down south.
I bought a DVD from Cex and it said on the case "Cover Reprint"
The original sleve must have been torn.
Sometimes we end up with loose discs too, so to avoid wasting them and losing money we get a spare box and put a new cover in!
type of people who play video games in their 20s
So your upset because you didn't get the original sleeve for the mario game???? Sounds like a bit of a bit picky aye?
not sure about the UK but CeX reprinted covers here in Australia have a small tag stating that it's been reprinted. Tbh I liked that they reprinted the original cover and didn't just slap a template cover with the game name.
Probably the best example of '1st WORLD PROBLEMS'.
Get some perspective, lad.
emulation heard of it
yeah but he's a collector. he wants to own a real copy. he doesn't just want to play a shitty port on his computer illegally. it's not about the experience of the game but the idea of owning it.
Lmao he's a collector completely different shit
@@redacted6696 it's not a port tho, it's the same game lmao.
Dude it’s only the sleeve chill
Is he crying? Look how glossy his eye is.
creeping jesus holy shit, kid did you got to Harvard or something? Fucking genius, no shit
He's probably stoned
Every game I bought from them had the original sleeve they were for Xbox, Xbox 360 and Wii
This young man REALLY needs to empty his goolies in anything or anybody over the age of consent ( as long as mum and dad are out)
Why u complaining about it just buy a sleeve for the game
Where do propose he buys the cover from then if you're so fucking smart, Connor?
At the start he talks about them not giving him premium. Bro no one cares you got the game and just be grateful for that
YES, THANK YOU! Someone agrees with me.
At CeX they tell u if the cover is damaged
Back in the late 80s, Nintendo successfully sued Blockbuster for photocopying user manuals for their rental games. I wonder if this falls under the same issue there.
It’s a game cover, get over it.
Brother, I am with you. 3 orders, and Iost £250. I got broken, missing parts, and wrong items.
So Childish 🤣🤣......
Agreed
The only scam with cex is how you buy a game for £10.00 from cex and you try to resell it a few months later and you get £2.00
😂😂😂 a sleeve does the game work yes
Oh but you can’t play it with a fake sleeve
It's illegal. And more importantly why would anybody be happy with a fake cover. Now if he wants to sell the game, the value goes way down. Cex knows that. Which is way they fake cases and don't state that they are reprints. Otherwise, the price would go way down and they'd have to sell it as unboxed or used.
Please no more videos
Virgin
WaveForceful he might be?🤷🏼♂️
Yeah he definitely needs son good puss
Are you, fair enough.
At least cex doesn’t sell broken consoles like GameStop does
They sell consoles without the wires so you can't play it
He’s a collector ppl
Techno Gamer nah. He's a loser virgin with nothing better to waste his money on. 😂
MajorBinkss fam why you got to be so mean
MajorBinkss juading you're a 12 year old who has to ask his mum to buy 18 games for him.
Will Baker I mean he'd have to do that 😂😂
Free Breadsticks yep. Definetly 12
Why you cry?
I didn't run into the same problem but I did run into one. I bought a mad max game for £10 then sold it back to them about 8 months for £2. A couple weeks ago (Which was probably about 3 years since I originally bought it) I was the at the same cex store and they were selling it again for £10.
Also it is mentioned in ts and cs that if a case of sleeve is broken or damaged they will give you a factory product.
I FEEL BETRAYED, can't wait for the next video :/..................(not) by the way it's a cover your complaining about that has cex on it boo hoo
jamie lyons he’s a collected lol. I can tell your about 12
Although this is a tad overreacting I can see where your coming from and it is an issue
Why cry over reproduction sleeves as long as the disk/media is real who cares about sleeves games are for playing normal people don't buy games to look at ffs get a grip
colin kinch normal people don’t realise how much that shit will be worth in the future either.. £55 today.. £500 in 30 years, if these people ain’t normal, at least they’re clever
people can enjoy their media however they like, don't be a prude
TheOneAndOnly No, normal people don't pretend the value goes up because someone didn't open and use it. Grow up.
ArchGirl the value does go up, that’s a fact, it doesn’t matter what kind of person you are, it’s something that just happens, girl
TheOneAndOnly Wrong. The PERCEIVED value goes up, that's not the same. People THINK it's more valuable, so people start raising the price. Learn how the world works kiddo, it's governed by the greedy. Besides, if you're collecting purely because of what you believe things to be worth, then you're a shallow person with more money than sense. Games should be played, not wrapped in plastic and drooled over on a shelf.
my advices trust a retro game store that sells authentic products
Well...They sell games, not collectors items.
They should count them as "discounted" games and charge like between £5-10 less than the normal price
Read the policy + If you order online you have 14 days to return the item to the original payment method
Few CEX shops are located in Poland. I was going through hundreds of games and had spotted only one game with fake cover.
Luckily my CEX store is super reliable. I got the first 4 Professor Layton games from them for £24 (It's a secondhand shop yeah, but fuck me what a bargain). I am still super content.
If cex starts printing game covers, everyone will think it's ok to print covers, and eventually all their shop will be full of fakes.
Yes., the cover is fake, we get it! The disc is real
@@KoopatoadYT in the past cex has been caught selling fake gba Pokemon cartridges. Cex should not be selling loose discs the same price as boxed games, by reprinting the artwork and using a dummy box, that's what people have an issue with.
Since this was uploaded CEX do now put on the outside of the sleeve that covers has been reproduced by CEX to help clarify this situation at least they do in the store close to me, but still ask the same amount as if it were the true cover which is irritating to say the least. It's a case now of buy if you just want to play the game rather than see it as an investment as sometimes as described these games can be extremely difficult to find with booklet and original sleeves.
If they promise that a true cover was on it, that’s a scam
Just so you know my guy, they put a label on the top corner of the covers now to tell people they're re-prints.
I think they may have started doing this pretty recently to avoid situations like this happening again.
The only time I ever bought something from CEX was in January this year. I'm a little sad they closed their physical store locations in the US, they had nice deals on computer parts.
likely from idiots like this they even struggle in there own country of the UK we only got 2 that i can think of here in Scotland
It must really piss people off when some games have reversal cover art.
The problem is is when u buy a collectors item, it needs to be original and have everything with it or it just isn't as valuable
It is a bit shady when they sell items as "boxed" online, at a higher price than items that aren't.
I doubt whoever traded those items in would have got their "boxed" trade-in price.
I don't understand CEX. I just bought a Switch and had a look at their 2nd hand games. I compared them with Argos who sell new copies and in practically every case it was either the same price, a paltry £2 discount or in many cases it was cheaper to buy a BRAND NEW copy from Argos. How the hell can it be cheaper to buy new than 2nd hand and who the hell is buying?
Back in the day I used to buy 2nd hand Gamecube games on Amazon. If the title was £35 new, (from Amazon), I would look to pay £20-25. With the Switch it seems as if people regularly sell for more than full rrp. I just bought Mario All-stars in Argos for £40. Cheapest Amazon price was nearer £50. What happened to online being cheaper?
