  • You can't win the war, but you can bring peace to your life temporarily...
    1) Cleanliness of you, your pet, and your home
    2) Inspecting yourself and your pet every time you come back in
    3) Nematodes on your yard
    4) Diatomaceous Earth
    5) Natural/Organic Sprays and Oils
    6) Orthoboric acid or other rug treatments (WARNING: see my other video)
    And the controversial:
    7) Nitenpyram
    8) Topical Applications
If you're lucky, you'll only have to do one of the above. Unlucky, and you'll need to do them all or more.

I had a flea nightmare and the fleas were super fleas which seemed immune to all the harsh chemicals. The one thing that worked for me, after trying everything and getting exhausted from cleaning and vacuuming every day for weeks…..a little known secret! A dehumidifier! Seriously, it’s amazing! You have to get a decent one that gets the humidity below 50% and all the fleas, eggs and larvae just dry up and die. Thank god I found out about this because it was driving me crazy.

Regular table salt. Sprinkle it all over your carpets and let it stay for 36-to 48 hours and then vacuum it up totally. This is mentioned many, many times on the internet. Look around and you'll see it suggested often. My wife and I used it last year and it worked like a charm--- I wouldn't use it if I had very young children who are still crawling or just beginning to walk. They might get it in their eyes, and of course it could sting.

I took in a flea infested cat that was not treated by a neighbour who owned it. I threw everything at the fleas and nothing worked. The poor thing was in misery. In the end, a cat collar was placed around her neck (The funnel shaped ones Vets give you to stop the cat biting at injuries) and she was wrapped in a towel and lowered into a tepid bath of water and held there for five minutes. This ensured all the fleas drowned. She hated it (and me) and I thought that was the end of the problem. No so, the fleas filled the entire house and I was being bitten to death. Sometimes pulling up to seven or eight fleas from my legs and feet and drowning them in soapy water, every time I sat down.
Again, commercially available products proved very expensive and next to useless. Then I had an idea. I bought a fair quality steam cleaner for £60. I had intended to buy one anyway for the carpets so I just brought the purchase forwards. It was a stunning success.
I did every room and every one of the soft furnishings including the mattresses and quilts. The fierce heat of the steam must of wiped out both fleas and eggs. There was a huge improvement on the very first day. Three more days of steam cleaning (It's very easy work and I am disabled with bed legs so anyone can do it) and they appeared to be gone. As was the cat. No flea bit me or landed on me for almost three weeks, Then one day I found one on my shin. I blasted everywhere I could, including the curtains this time and that was it. The fleas were beaten.

I had a cat given to me and he was covered with fleas. I did the bath and the fleas appeared dead until they dried out and then they were alive and well. All I could do was wet him and pick them off while wet. And this last one the vet thinks the pet armour did not god and his bits got infected from digging at them. Cat Scratch Fever. But it will never be known for sure. But he died and it was terrible.

From a comment: put Bugstop on tbe perimeter of your rooms, on tbe baseboards.
Steam cleaning kills all 3 stages.
A few drops or a drizzle of Dish detergent in water, in shallow white or light dishes with a night light or low light 2-4 ft. Above. Check traps in the morning to monitor progress.
3-4 drops of lavender, tea tree, sage or citronella essential oil in a bit of hand and body lotion in your palm after your shower. Mix and wipe on to repel fleas.
Spray the yard, as you or pets can walk thru grass and pick up fleas. A dish detergent added to a hose sprayer. Fleas like shade.
Borax swept into cracks on hard wood floors.
Keep a lint roller for straggler fleas when you feel them. They niggle right through socks.
Make a spritzer spray ($ store bottles) of 70-99% rubbing alcohol and water. 50/50. Add 14 drops essential oil to approx. 1/2 c. Alcohol, 1/2 c. Water. Use 1 or 2: tea tree, citronella, lavender, sage, etc. neem...
    Spray sofa, shoes, cushions.
Toss clothes and bedding in the dryer if clean but possibly infested.
Don't keep bags of soda or drink containers near your house to draw thirsty ants and fleas, etc.

Some things work better depending on the conditions. Obviously try one thing then another until something works depending on severity... You might have to "try everything" all at once if things are really bad. If you have a pet and it's become problematic, I typically go straight for the monthly topical as those tend to act like a home bomb. But then again, there it is: do you want to potentially toxify your pet and environment?

    • @Playlist25951
      @Playlist25951 4 роки тому +3

No. Literally do everything at the same time. It’s a war and they’re winning if they’re still in your house or on your pet and you. You have to take a multi pronged approach to the situation. The vaccum is also your best friend along with the washer and dryer. Pesticides are a necessity unfortunately.

I was attacked by a flea bloom and when I spread fine salt all over the floor filling cracks etc where eggs and fleas hide, I experienced a huge decline in bites- and leaving salt there is fine. This is mostly about de fleaing the house. The salt dehydrates all stages of flea cauzing its death. The great thing is it does no harm otherwise to house or pets.

Not the least expensive but Revolution has the best results to stop fleas from biting your pet and help end the 1st cycle quickly. Everything else is listed in the video description. My only other suggestion is to place several soapy water traps. I use a small pie pan sized bowl with less than a cup of water mixed in some Dawn soap. Just a few drops does the trick.. Then I light a Tea Candle and place in the middle of the water trap. The light and heat will attract them. After my 2nd week of infestation I'm down from 50 per bowl to 3 or 4 per night. Vacuuming every day is a must. Getting the eggs gone is very important. Cheers from California.

I'm at that stage now myself a few in soap dishes the flea traps you can buy on amazon with light and sticky pads where the best as well as flea sprays and constant hoovering and combing the cats although I'm still taking flea dirt from them and live fleas they have had baths with Johnson's flea shampoo that didnt work and I let the cats sit in the water for ages the fleas under Belly and groin where still alive had to get them off with comb straight into boiling water with soap liquid. They still scratching but I cant give them anymore spot on or I'll overdose them I'm actually exhausted by the whole routine they are due their next spot on soon. I got one from vet called Advocate now I dont live in America and I think this one is a bit extreme seems to kill a lot of things you get out there so after the Advocate I'm going unto Advantage wish me luck I've spent a fortune already. Dont know how they got so badly infected as they our spot on every month.

I used to work pest control and good ole fashioned Borax (aka laundry soap) helps a lot. You put it in the cracks of your floorboards, the side trim, the cracks in your couches and on your carpet, even on the edges of your bed. Let it sit for a day and then vacuum it up. Take the bag outside or in a sealed bag and outside. It helps a lot. Vacuum a lot. Clean, clean, clean. Dawn dish soap in a bowl helps attract some fleas to a watery grave and you can also use that to bathe your pet, although I'd recommend speaking to your vet first just to be safe.

Borax uses boric acid as an active ingredient. Same as Flea-busters. But Borax is definitely safe for human contact as it's not in a form that easily inhaled. Having a floor without a rug, and keeping things clean helps immensely.

Omg people so much misinformation here. The dawn doesn't attract them to the dish but if it does happen to hop in it the soapy water let's them drown whereas with plain water they won't drown, I'm sure the spray idea helps, but to the one who said put diatomaceous earth on their pet... what!? If you watch a time lapse of fleas jumping in that powder to die, it does work, but they need to jump in it over n over and no pet would let that stuff sit w/o licking and them eating that is no good. It's non-toxic, not FOOD GRADE! Also, forgot to mention the fleas go by carbon dioxide (plants near your bait) and heat (candles or heat lights/some lightbulb that isn't LED or other non-heat producing light bulbs. Stick the light pointing at the dish, or place a candle in the middle (the water in dish will protect from any floor damage but you need to keep it where fleas jump most, they can only jump in a semicircle shape so high-lipped dishes will make it harder for fleas to get in their soapy doom.
No harm done y'all just watch what you put on your animals, and when you do any sprays or treatments, follow instructions and don't place on your pet, some sprays are for the pet, but the rest is for the floors ONLY. Now let's get them fleas!!!

    • @JamieYAYme
      @JamieYAYme 5 років тому

@@j.olacio5298 keep your lawn trim, get a big bag of diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it against your house, near doorways especially and in your yard as much as possible if you can afford the extra product. It will look very noticeable at first but by the time the fleas are gone, so is it. Plus you can always work it in to the sidewalk or whatever to blend it in, long as your not just sweeping it away, brush it into the ground. So order a bag if you still have them!

We have been battling a flea issue for around 6 months.. Our cats have been miserable. We have done EVERYTHING. The soapy bowl of water, coconut oil, Diatamaceous earth, NEEM Oil and SAL SUDS, various topicals, CAPSTAR (which is great, but temporary!). I take care of a cat colony and 6 of them are inside... (long story) I finally got some donations for them and bought a couple of doses of REVOLUTION and 4 doses of Credelio.. oral.. cause some had bad flea allergies.. FINGERS crossed this finally works. Our one cat lost all his hair and was miserable. I was only able to bathe him and one of the other cats they have bneen so tortured this past year. I have gotten bitten all up my legs. Mopping every single morning and evening. Does help. I steam the sofa than wait to dry then Spread borax acid on my sofas .then steam my babys Play pens then spread borax acid.at the beginning I was being eaten alive I mean seriously. Very depressing. But I got down and kick ass. After I clean up vacuum mop swept they would come with revenge seriously. It was like the critters were pissed and bit more aggressively. I don't know if that was in the mind but was horrible. After I mop I would see it in water like tiny hair real baby by the 100s I wouldn't stop I would go after it again and again. But it has minimize guys. Borax acid is safe it's just like salt I was told in home Depot. You won't regret it. I would put some on my water to mop. And some the Ortho liquid for fleas indoor. I will say this alpine spray and capstar mixed w DE around the lawn and baseboards etc. Those 3 things saved us. Dawn dish soap works temporarily too. Oh and I set up flea traps using a computer desk lamp and bowl of dawn and water. Did 2 in basement and 2 upstairs. You can use a flashlight too. Look up how to set them up. This alone won’t rid fleas BUT it’s part of my multi solution. It takes a lot. I almost gave up lol. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats so it was hell....... not even gonna lie. It’s only been 4 days so I’ll update but so far this is working.

So I've just started seeing some flees in one of my bathrooms. I have never bathed my dog in the house. And I have been putting ACV in her water every day for a couple years now. I vacuum my house every day ... cause I don't like fur everywhere.
I tried a couple nights of the soapy water and light flea traps, to no avail. Today I mixed ACV with hot water in a water bottle and sprayed the crap out of the bathroom the hallway that leads to the bathroom...laundry room and kitchen. (All near the bathroom) let it soak for an hour and then cleaned the vacuum outside and let it dry in the sun in the meantime. After that dried I brought it back inside ... mopped up the vinegar mixture from the floors and vacuumed again. Then I sprayed the floor and mopped again. I hope those little bastards are done now. But I do plan on doing this daily until I don't see anymore. I think because I put the ACV in my dog's water, the fleas drop off her inside the house. And we leave the bathroom light on for her at night...which I think invite the fleas to the bathroom. I haven't seen them anywhere else in the house. Wish me luck!

Hi. Thank you for some good ideas. I wanted to add something I've seen on UA-cam and it looks amazing! Today I am going out to get some cheap clip lamps to do this.... basically you put a dish or bowl of water on floor, squeezing a good amount of Dawn into it, swishing it around just a little. The water should be blue. Then u place lamp near this, shining on water. The fleas are attracted to the light and heat and when they jump toward it, they land in the water and die. You should see the " next morning" videos!!!! Holy cow!!! Full of fleas!!!! And if u do this in different rooms and different areas, you end up getting a lot of the different stages of them!! So, watch these videos of you want, but I'm convinced with good cleaning, vacuuming, a sprinkling of diatomaceous earth, and these water bowls, we could win the battle of the creepy vampires, ( I love what you called them). Ok. Good luck!!!!

For my dogs, but it's great for cats to,I prefer cold pressed babassu oil because it does not leave your pets skin looking like a greasy gas station mop like coconut oil and I add essential oil in the oil because essential oils need a carrier oil and the essential oil is added protection against fleas etc. If I don't have babassu oil I use solid coconut oil labeled cold pressed/hexane free to avoid hexane/gasoline plus the tick and flea repellent component of coconut oil and babassu oil is “lauric acid”, so it is important to use a pure and unprocessed product. Nutiva/Trader Joe's coconut oils are hexane free...When it's bath time I wash the dogs in Dr.Woods Castile soap made with Shea butter or without the shea butter or whatever the dogs prefer lol.Bathe your cat with a non-irritating product such as unscented Castile soap, soap nuts etc...JFYI I use the Castile soap for cleaning the bathroom etc..I found out Ceylon cinnamon powder is great for deterring fleas so sometimes I put some on my dogs and add it in their food and I sprinkle table salt or sea salt on the rug to keep fleas away and kill them if they are there, but it may damage certain carpets.Food grade diatomaceous earth, not regular diatomaceous earth is a natural flea control for dogs, cats, carpets etc..I use to dust food grade diatomaceous earth on my dog in the past, but stopped because it was drying out her fur..I read that it can be used in pets food etc.. I use to put it in my water and drink it for several reasons,it wasn't horrible, but not something I would keep up with.If you drop a bag of food grade diatomaceous earth on the floor you might be coughing for days......do your research....These products and blends works on me to.

I have 3 large dogs (60 to 100#'s), who have their own dog door and free run of my (over-grown) 7 acres. It took about a month of "staying after it;" but, I finally got rid of my flea infestation using a few recycled Hormel entree dishes. I put 2 each on plastic plates, with 2 paper towels between the dishes and plate, gave each dish a good squirt of cheap dish soap, filled them with water, heated them for 2 ~ 2 1/2 minutes in my (1200? watt) microwave, CAREFULLY took them out, tried not to trip getting the plate to the worst areas, set it down; then, reheated it ever couple of hours (as needed)... The paper towels proved to be an asset; since, they always got sloshed on as I was moving the plate. (My balance sucks!) The paper towels had enough soap sludge that it trapped the fleas that didn't make it all the way into the dishes. The dishes (initially) filled up fast enough that it wasn't unusual for me to have to dump them into the toilet and refill them with soapy water. As the days passed, I found that I was no longer getting adult fleas; but, instead, hundreds of tiny recent hatchlings. This went on for the final week or two. Finally, those numbers dwindled to the point where I was only seeing one or two when I'd pick the plates up to reheat them. I still put them down sometimes; but, I've gotten a bit slack about it; since, it's rare that I get even one flea, typically carted in from the outside. I'm hoping that the weather is getting cool enough now that they're going dormant outside.
The Hormel dishes worked out great; since: 1) They were free; 2) They were impervious to the microwave; 3) They were low enough for the fleas to easily hop into; 4) Being white, it was easy to monitor their "catch rate."
Fleas are "heat seeking missiles;" so, it's important to keep the water hot. I tried it years ago with just a light; and, got pretty crappy results. Yes, it IS a hassle having to renuke the dishes every couple of hours; but, when you see a ring of dead flea bodies building up to the point of starting to cover the elevated part of the dish, it's a pretty big incentive!
I had almost no fleas at all for most of the summer; but, suddenly got hit with the worst infestation I'd ever seen. I have "dog space" under my bunk; and, seemingly in just a day or two, I couldn't even get my feet on the floor before my feet and legs would get attacked by dozens of the little bastards! When I first started putting them down, I'd have to brush fleas off of my hands, arms, feet, and legs, into the hot water; so, yeah, I got a certain amount of "sadistic pleasure" in watching them sinking to the bottom of the dishes "kicking & screaming..." {evil grin} What's even better, though, is the satisfaction of seeing cooled down traps devoid of even tiny fleas!!!

I would say instead of making their blood into an insecticide, which is essentially what you would be doing, bathe the animal and keep bathing! Topical drowning is good. I use neem soap on my cats, as it seems that is the only essential oil that won't disturb them. (like eucalyptus or tea tree oil, cedarwood, etc.) I buy a human grade soap at a local health food store, it is a bar soap with neem oil in it and they seem to tolerate it. I DRENCH them in it. Suds it up! Rinse and rinse and rinse again. Give it a day or two and if they look like you need to do it again, then do it again. Do it at least once a week whilst you clean up the house. Make sure to deworm your cat as well, since the flea bites sometimes carry the worm eggs and can be the gift that keeps on giving if you know what I mean. I used to use that stuff and I had done this to 3 cats I had, and by the end of the day, even though I washed the stuff off of my hands, I got sick and toxic and it was like a nerve bomb on my system. I said "What the heck did I do to my beloved cats, they are SO much smaller than me and I put this stuff on them?"!!!!! OMG!!!! I rinsed it off of them, and then proceeded to do topical cleaning, house cleaning, etc. Boric Acid and Diatomaceous earth (food grade) and salt are your best friends. I know folks do "Dawn dishwashing", but I like the Neem soap better. It really screws with the insects' system and it does not infiltrate the nervous system of the cat. (not like the back of the neck oils did.) If it REALLY gets bad and the cat is so sick he needs a blood transfusion due to anemia, then you are going to see a doctor anyways. I think they give "Revolution" as a shot, and it lasts for 6 months. If you live in the "back 40", heavy woods, hiking, farmland, etc. then that would be the stuff I would be doing instead. The stuff I am talking about it for city and suburbanite dwellers. Don't forget to do pets bedding, wash all the time like towels and blast it in the dryer. (heat kill.) I now plant with bug-repelling plants, citronella, scented geraniums, lemongrasses, scented herbs like basil, rosemary, thymes, oregano, etc will repel the bugs in your backyard. Good luck this flea season!

Something I shared with my group and here.....I wouldn't use Dawn dish soap on my pets because it's full of chemicals.Dawn is not allowed in my home,it makes me gag for air....Formaldehyde can be found in Palmolive, Ajax, Dawn and many other common soaps and household cleaners. EWG's Guide to Healthy Cleaning gave Dawn dish soap a grade D.Top scoring factors: Ingredient Disclosure poor; May contain ingredients with potential for acute aquatic toxicity; respiratory effects; nervous system effects.....For my dogs,I prefer cold pressed babassu oil because it does not leave my pets skin looking like a greasy gas station mop like coconut oil and I add essential oil in the oil because essential oils need a carrier oil and the essential oil is added protection against fleas etc. If I don't have babassu oil I use solid coconut oil labeled cold pressed/hexane free to avoid hexane/gasoline plus the tick and flea repellent component of coconut oil and babassu oil is “lauric acid”, so it is important to use a pure and unprocessed product. Nutiva/Trader Joe's coconut oils are hexane free...When it's bath time I wash the dogs in Dr.Woods Castile soap made with Shea butter or without the shea butter or whatever the dogs prefer lol.I have soap nuts I use to wash clothes, but I read soap nuts also have a natural insect repellent property so not only will your pets be naturally cleaned they’ll be less likely to attract various pests such as fleas, ticks, and lice. The natural anti-fungal properties of soap nuts are perfect for pets with skin irritations, rashes, and hot spots. Soap nuts liquid is also perfect for washing pet bedding...JFYI These products are for human as well..... tip- salt kills fleas to.. and I use to give my dogs unsulphured bs molasses, just as a little treat,I read that it is great for human and pets with low blood etc..

@Jannet Lane you need to teach your cat from a little age that baths aren't scary. They tolerate it quite well then. Even my new adult cat did pretty well, probably didn't have many bath's or any before. Set up make a difference as well. But there are some cats that would freak out big time and start full on fighting you to death, so be careful and protect your arms. The only way I could manage to bath one kitty that I had like that was playing him in cloth veggie net bag with handles, where his paws would hand out through the holes (holes were very large) while one strong person holds the sack with a cat hight above bath tub and I carefully foamed the cat and spray rinsed him with a shower head. Ofcource the cat screamed the entire time things at us that I'm glad I don't understand! lol But it was absolute nesetity to clean him that time, so we had no choice but to do it. After that experience I realized that my next cat will bath more often then ones in 4 years and he does no problem.

It’s been a MONTH now & I’ve gotten NOWHERE. I’m miserable. I had a Pro come in with IGR insecticide 3 weeks ago & had to have them come back yesterday. I’ve gotten bit more today than I have in a week. It’s like as soon as I spray for them, they worsen. My cats have taken two rounds of comfortis, I clean 4-5x / week. I vacuum and throw out the bag. I sweep. I dust. I’ve sprayed & wiped furniture with flea sprays. Nothing works. I resent my house (we bought it a month prior to when the fleas emerged). What should be a happy time for me has been miserable. I’m depressed, itchy, exhausted, & pissed off.

I inherited flea eggs with a piece of furniture I got from a friend. I broke the flea cycle with salt. Plain, uniodized, free-flowing salt. Sprinkle it on your carpets and floors and in the cracks of your furniture. Let it sit for a couple of days and vacuum it up. The adult fleas have a sort of armor, but the salt will dry out the larvae and eggs. Just be careful if you have pets running around on the carpet. Salt is a natural laxative. You don't want to colon cleanse your cats and dogs!

What i did on my cat is adding natural bio Coconut Oil ( rub on cat fur ) not much, just use it with comb or take it in your hands.. and rub over his/her furr.. Fleas HATE smell of it.. they die or they run away.. ( that can be nasty because they will be oily, it's totaly safe.. because you can use that oil even for cooking or for your own skin just be careful when you walk, can be slippery if dog/cat was laying at that spot.. ) when is that done.. i vaccum basicly every day 2x and once per week i going deep cleaning room by room... ( moving furniture and cleaning/vaccum every single spot under the bed, under bed cushions/sofa cushions etc etc.. ) If you have rugs.. it will be painful guys.. rugs are magnet for fleas..so i would reccomend really good steam vaccum cleaner for rugs and carpets... so what i doing every night is.. making a trap for fleas.. Lamp pointing down + low wall bucket with water and soap.. they will try to reach the light and poof they jump into water and die.. ( Dont' let your pets near it ) so close the door every night and let lamp only be source of light in that room.. When i notice after week or two there is less and less in that room, i move it to another one.. and don't let pet into that room during the night.. So i kinda kill most of them, i believe not all of them, probably larvas are still somewhere in gaps.. but for me is important to kill adults.. larva can evolve.. but killing adults on time .. in time they will dissapear because they can't lay eggs.. This is my method, it takes long.. but it's safe and it works for me.. You will not get rid of fleas in 1-2 weeks.. it will take couple of weeks/months.. and even then maybe you will never get rid of them completely.. Protect your pet

I'm hoping to win the war and soon! I'm moving into my house that had previous tenants with a cat. I replaced carpets and repainted most walls (apparently fleas don't like chemical smells of the paint). Whilst putting new furniture together I noticed a few fleas jump on me. My problem is, I think I've become victim of hitchhikers who have traveled with me to my old home (we have no pets) where I'm still packing for the move. Both my son and I are being bitten to high heaven (in old home we are moving from) ... I'm concerned that I'm dealing now with two infected properties. I don't want to be taking the dreaded creatures from my old home into my new one ... and vice versa! Tried the dish soap method in old home and only got one adult flea floating (and a few fruit flies) .... so don't really know which house is the more infested ... trying it again tonight ... plan to use bombs in the new home ... will keep you posted! They say there's a reason for every creature to exist on this earth ... I can't fathom out what the purpose of these irritants are for!!

4 years later here and. after the pandemic seems like they ttruly trippled on us. Are they demons? What we used years ago they seem to laugh at us. I didn't have any for a whole year until somebody opened a window. Now they seem to have a happy home. They out do all the other pests. They use to didn't like the cold but now even without a pet... You're the pet. I sure hope something is working for you now after every main thing was done. Over and over again wasting money. And doing natural things even putting a vale on your face. They love the light and jump right in bed with you. They go up the nose, in your eyes and mouth. You are not alone! All I can say if the invasion continues I am very sorry. Salt seems to work some for a relief so you can sleep. Because everything that was shut down they had a chance to multiple everywhere. They are like little people biting you and your neighbors don't give you any more good news about them. Never tried the coconut oil yet. They said they hate lavender, onions and garlic. And the soap and water thing. The vingar trap seems to make them more aggressive. Just an itchy mess we have here. Ohio. Anyway wishing you the best.

diatomaceous earth kills flees but inhaling it is not good for the dogs lungs or yours for that matter, so if you don't like dust kicked up in your face, don't put that on your dog who will inhale it too. Plus it has to be food grade. If you don't specify people could accidentally use the same stuff used for pool filtering and that is bad.

Mix 3 ounces of permethrin and an ounce of precor in a gallon of water. Spray cracks and around walls with thin stream, spray broad across floor/carpet. Killed all my fleas in 2-3 weeks and have not had any going on 3 months now. It will kill cats, so just remove cats until dry then it is safe.

  • @angelakash1941
    @angelakash1941 4 роки тому +1

You should not put DE on your pet. The dust if inhaled can damage the lungs for both pet and human (yes that is the FOOD GRADE). It is only useful when settled to the carpet or outside ground. If used on carpet, you should vacuum after 12 hours. Also, it could create skin issues should your pet have sensitive skin. Capstar is good to kill all adult fleas anywhere from 3-24 hours, but you still need to treat larvae and eggs.

My dog has mutliple allergies. One of the things I learned is to make sure their diet has absolutely no sugar or anything that converts to sugar in their diet. Such as rice, peas, pasta, sweet potatoes etc. And never bath them with oatmeal... it feeds yeast infections which they get from all the scratching. A raw diet is also good for them. I hope this helps at least a little. Good luck.

You have to repeat the Diatomaceous Earth application several times if you have an infestation to get rid of the new hatching fleas. You need to put it on your carpet and in the animal beds and let it sit there for at least 12 hours and repeat several times, again, to get the hatching fleas. I will put it on the carpet and just leave it there for a week or so.
Once the infestation is over, you need to dust your animal at least once a week during the heavy flea season. I care for 20 cats and only once had an infestation and that is because I got lazy with the DE in the fall.
Some people say that DE works for intestinal and heart worms. I was disappointed to find through my own experience and then in a study done on various farm animals that it does not. It will not harm them to eat it, but it's not going to do anything for them outside of maybe make them not like their food due to the grittiness.
Also, I use the Red Lake DE outside and the white powder stuff inside. Though I have used the Red Lake inside, as well. It tends to be more gritty and is the color of sand. But it works great on ants that are making homes under your brick patio. They move out within an hour of applying. I also add some (not a lot) it to my chickens' dust bath and under the bedding in the coop. They have never had lice or mites.

That’s the problem people don’t understand the process of diatomaceous earth what you’re doing is by using diatomaceous earth you were breaking the cycle of the flea which meaning you’re killing the ones that are in and around your house on your pet they come in contact with diatomaceous earth they eventually die, but then if they had already laid eggs, just say in your house or on your animals, they have to hatch Then they have to come in contact with diatomaceous earth so then they die you have to break the cycle diatomaceous earth works great. Everybody is expecting it to work right now when that’s not the process it can take 14+ days for you to actually notice a decrease in flea activity, but you have to be consistent. If they’re on your pets, you need to apply it to them every day or every other day give them a light dusting on top of vacuuming around your house, washing blankets sheets, dog bedding, diatomaceous earth works It’s just that everybody wants that super fast acting miracle treatment, and they think that something such as diatomaceous earth should work at the snap of your finger and that’s not how it works.

I dusted all my floors and cat with diatomaceous earth and it turned into a nightmare. The dust irritated my throat, sinuses and my eyes so bad I got an eye infection from scratching the cornea with the stuff. Even after I tried to vacuum it out of my life over and over, I can still feel the residue drying out my skin. Oh yes, it didn't even get rid of the fleas.

Lol diatomaceous earth does work and when working with it you should wear a mask and then leave the area for 30 mins .. it’s perfectly safe when just laying around on the floor and needs to be left at least overnight as DE takes a few hours to kill the fleas it comes in contact with .. I also feel it makes you clean every area of your house well bc it gets everywhere

ORANGE OIL.. period. And if you dont want to buy it, just keep your peels and boil them. The oil will goto the surface, and you can decant the water off.. or just put it in the fridge and let the oil get harder and take it out that way. My first time using orange oil.. was a date, to a girls house that had flease so bad the second you walked in her door.. you had dozens on your legs. A few drops of orange oil in hand lotion later.. and they left me alone. Even in such a thick infestation. Ive used it ever since. It works. And since i have all of your attention now... use worm shit (castings) to get rid of ants.. yes, they will move immediately when its dumped on their house (wouldnt you?). Finally.. hot sauce.. diluted in water. Preferably not a sweet one. This sprayed or wiped down on baseboards or countertops will drive away kitchen roaches. Tobasco works wonders

Nitenpyram. I listed it in the description. You can buy generic brands of it. It should be sized/dosed for your pet. And you give them one in a 24 hour period. I've found it to be a great preventative measure as if you take your dog somewhere that they are likely to get fleas, the flea jumps on, 'bites' and dies. If by some stroke of luck that the flea hitches a ride and doesn't bite, they might survive, but it's been my experience that Nitempyram is a great short term treatment. Like all things tho, I don't give mine these unless absolutely necessary but tend to prefer Nitempyram because if it solves the problem I don't have to continue dosing or deal with a pervasive chemical. Nitempyram is a nicotine derivative and will be processed from the body in a similar way.

WITH THE WINTER coming on now, I await the ultimate flea killer
'bomb' I've used often. As temperatures drop below freezing, I will open
the windows and use fans to move the cold air through my home. One or
more in the windows, pushing the air in and, at the other end of my
apartment, fans in windows sucking the air out. [No fans, just open all
the windows overnight.] I prefer temperatures around 20 degrees, but 30
doesn't hurt! With the former, though, you will need to trickle the
water in all your sinks and tub, because the pipes may freeze up otherwise.
The goal, of course, is to get the house down below freezing. I'll sleep
in a room that is warm, but will switch rooms and freeze that room out
later. This ALWAYS works, when virtually nothing else does, -chemical spray
cans and "bombs", constant vacuuming and mopping, etc. And it really ain't that hard to do! As far as
cost, well, -heating up your home from freezing DOES cost money...
Getting up in the morning to a frozen house is a rude awakening, but i like the
results! While 30 degrees [outside] may not finish them completely, it'll make quite a dent... But a 20 degree outside temperature, that is nuclear!
Another slightly scary method i use is putting bleach on my calfs [legs]. You
could probably put it on full strength without harming yourself, but i
usually cut it 50/50 with water, or more. 10 to 1 probably won't cut it,
as you have to have SOME strength. When house cleaning, we often get
bleach on our hands, and while it is not something i think is good for
me, this is WAR. Fleas burrow into your flesh and lay their eggs there.
If you don't kill the larvae in your own skin, you are literally
"shedding" little fleas as you walk around your own home! I have heard
it claimed that hydrogen peroxide can be used to wash down your skin and
"burn off" fleas. [Btw, peroxide in your ears helps (some) people with
"colds", -esp. upper respiratory viruses!] Maybe peroxide is healthier,
but I don't know that it really works. Bleach WORKS. Try it two parts
water, one part bleach, or 3 to 1 (1/4) may even do it.
We have a cat. The first line of flea defense is to take care of her!
[Temperature is still too warm outside now!] Kitty gets a good combing
every night! She's a flea MAGNET! I use a lice comb my daughter needs
once in a while. It's perfect. [A lady on you tube showed me this, by
the way, God bless her!] Take a pot of boiling water to the tub and set
it on a milk crate [etc.] in there. As you comb the cat, you'll get a
flea in the comb, and instantly you dip the comb [with flea on it] in
the hot water. Often you'll get two or three in a swipe. If you don't
move fast, they'll hop off the comb. But they usually seem "stunned" to
be pulled from their "fur world", so you'll have a (long) moment before
they can react... If they do jump, they may fall in the tub, where you
can have a few cups of warm water handy to dump into the tub to try to
wash them down the drain. A dozen fleas on kitty last night, only six
tonight... Gotta keep at it! Good luck y'all!

That's why there is so much of a bug explosion in the cities now.

Terry Newman : I guess the vets in your area are not charging much ! In the US if you go to a vet you have to pay a visit charge plus pay for the flea medication. For 3 cats it would cost you $70 each month just for the medication. However, those chemicals may only work for a week or two. This year in the summer of 2019 they are no longer effective ; at least not in the west coast of usa.
