Thanks it is day 3 and it seems to be working. Some important notes though. About 12 hours after application in noticed an increase in fleas jumping onto my socks. About 24 hours after fleas declined in numbers. 3 days later the only flea I found was over hardwood. Surprised it worked. Another note for application, I found a large broom was the easiest way to spread it. Thanks again, wish I woulda known about this a month ago and avoided a ton of stress.

This by far is thee best tutorial on treatment for carpets. I've been searching for utube for days and I love this one. Took in a stray beautiful kitten just for 5 hours (that was enough- then dropped off kitten to her new home) but the next day my friend calls & says she has fleas! Yikes I have 3 cats & I'm immediately scratching as we're taking. ( That's just how I am) Well long story short I've done the white sock test & dish with Dawn and tea light etc .. nothing. But I did call the vet & we got Credilio (chewable tablets for our 3 cats) I now know that I'm not going to use that again (no side effects) but I want to do natural treatment. So we took all 3 of them a dawn bath and then following week a coconut oil rub. Vacuuming with baking soda & salt every 3 days for carpet & furniture, my homemade lemon spray. Don't for get to treat your vehicles (I had the kitten in the car ride for over 1 1/2 hours from where I had to pick her up. So I used the baking soda & salt in my car as well. I also spray in my car lavender (not in my house cause I hear it's toxic for cats?)
I don't see any evidence of fleas (month later) but I'm still itching? No bite marks, I think I'm just mentally disturbed when I hear or think about little effen creatures once invaded my home, I have post trauma🤣🤣 I wonder if I'm the only one like that? (Btw my husband never felt itchy or anything during all the treatments so why did I??😊)

I've not heard of this before, but will definitely look into this. Unfortunately my cats are no longer with me but they have left me with a legacy of fleas, (not noticeable over the winter months). Only now very visible in the early spring months, obvious from eggs/larvae. My ankles are covered in bite marks. I manage to catch around 10 to 15 per day but I would just love to get rid of them once and for all. Fed up purchasing so called miracle powders for my carpets which clearly don't work. I am using DE on my cats and some in their food. It is a mess on the carpets or their sleeping spaces. I might try the baking soda and salt in the carpets and on the rugs and see how it goes. Both DE and salt/baking soda are inexpensive. I have 8 kitties and 2 do go out in the back yard and over my board fence and into a veritable jungle due to one neighbor who is a real hum dinger and she has junk everywhere, old cars, an old boat and she never mows or cuts a tree limb. So, there is who knows what kinds of varmits over in there! These 2 kitties get so stressed if they cant go outside and over into that jungle. The rest of the cats are in the house but the 2 who go out have brought us all some fleas this summer. 😕 Thanks a bunch for showing us how to do the salt and soda flea killer! I run the salt through a Nutri-bullet and it does a good job at reducing the number of fleas. This is the first time I've heard about using baking powder with it, so I'll make a new batch with some this weekend. My neighbor has a feral cat colony that use my backyard as a sunning area and walkway to other yards, so fighting fleas is pretty much year-round. My cats (indoor only) don't get heavily infested, but my poor dog will get bald spots when they get really bad because he has to go out into the backyard with the ferals. Here's hoping this helps with the fleas. Thanks!

I battled fleas in a place I moved into by using very fine Himalayan sea salt sprinkled everywhere after vacuuming. I would leave it on for a few days and we would walk in it and I think that distributed it further into the carpet and floors. Our movement disturbed the eggs so they hatch, so that helps. It was a battle for sure that took many applications. I had to flea comb constantly and I did try Wondercide as a spray on fabrics. I did break down and use a topical because I couldn’t take it….BUT the garlic I may try. Unfortunately I moved from that place and now I am going through it ALL over again. Not easy!!!! For tapeworm it is best to vacuum or shake off outside the bedding they sleep on to get ride of the dried worm segments. I use white towels. Ivermectin topical can reduce the rate of reproduction of the segments. But the most stubborn cases require Prazaquantel, which will knock them out with one dose. There is a dog medicine that can also be used on cats but you may have to use it 2 ot 3 days in a row, it is called Prosense dewormer and has only one active ingredient. It comes in powder packets. Some people say to put a couple drops of apple cider vinegar in their water bowl, but I never had that reduce fleas or tapeworm.

    • @Floppycats

I am not sure I would with one that was infested - as the risk is anemia - and they might already have that. Coconut oil is a great thing for kittens with fleas - just put a thin layer of it (I melt it in my hands and then wipe down the cat) - the coconut oil kills and suffocates the fleas. Be sure to take care of the environment - vacuum, wash, vacuum, wash for AT LEAST two weeks. Other ideas can be found here: Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment ➡ floppycats.co/flea

replied to your other comment of the same nature. so i will respond to the different things you asked here. see comprehensive suggestions here: ➡ floppycats.co/flea - 95% of your flea problem is in the environment! fleas reproduce like crazy - so you have to get them out of your environment and off the cat. washing, vacuuming, etc. every single day for 2 weeks. i am not kidding. and make sure your vacuum doesn''t have them in it. so i use only a water vacuum or a bagged vacuum, so i can dump out the water or so i can take out the bag and seal it in a plastic bag before throwing it out outside.
you can get a break from vacuuming by doing this salt and baking soda thing - but it doesn't give you a break from washing. so vacuum your heart out, then put down the baking soda and salt - usually i have to do that 3x. so vacuum it back up in a couple of days, vacuum like crazy again and then put it down again. i HATE vacuuming, so i got pretty depressed having to do this - i did it every day for 3 months!! but now, i have better methods. like if we get a flea, i immediately wash everything, vacuum the whole house and spray anything i cannot vacuum with Flea-X - ua-cam.com/video/aKK8IynBNeI/v-deo.html
garlic - i give garlic every other day during flea season because my cat goes outside. you can do MWF or something though.

I noticed 2 different sizes on the capsules on your list, #3 and #4. Is the size to be used determined by the weight of the cat, and if so, what are the weights that determine which size to use, please? Is it the salt that kills the fleas or the baking soda? The reason I ask is, because squirrels have left a lot of fleas in the plants on my patio, and I need to know how to kill the fleas in the pots in a way that wouldn't harm any visiting squirrels or birds or other wildlife. After that, I would like to dump the potting soil with the dead fleas and larva, scrub out the pots with your mixture and use the pots and new soil to replant my "garden." The apartments cut down the lovely apple tree that gave us birds and squirrels to watch and provided beautiful pink blossoms in the spring before filling up with apples that drew the deer when they fell. They could have fed a lot of people. When I looked at all those apples scattered thickly all over the ground when they cut down my tree, I was horrified at the waste. Also, no more privacy. The four apartments at the top of the hill now have a clear view into my living room, and dining room with no tree between us anymore at any time of the day or night. . They kept their trees. That's where my beautiful pair of Cardinals, pair of Blue Jays and all my playful squirrels live now that our tree is gone. I'd like to replant my patio with flea free pots of flowers to try to make up in some tiny way for what we have lost. We are not allowed to feed any birds or animals, even with food that is animal and bird nutritious, so there is no way to attack anything at all without at least some flowers. The one exception to the no feeding rule is that we are allowed to have Hummingbird feeders, but when the Hummers see no flowers, they don't seem inclined to check for feeders. (The "we") referred to throughout is myself and my 15-year-old Norwegian Forest/DLH mix. I adopted her when she was 9 with a past record of being abused. She is doing very well now, but she clearly misses having any birds and animals to watch. So do I.

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Рік тому +2

No, there's not a big difference between #3 and #4, Dr. Judy says 1/4 of a clove of garlic, and the pills aren't even really big enough for that. This is for a cat, not a squirrel. I have no idea about squirrels.
The biggest thing is cutting it up into small pieces, waiting 10-15 minutes before putting it in the capsule and feeding it or freezing it - so the juices of the garlic do their thing.
Baking soda and salt, cut up and dry up fleas, so indirectly kill them. Fleas like a humid environment...
      I would try nematodes if you're outside - ua-cam.com/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/v-deo.htmlsi=zRJ8kifTbNk3WTrA

Use diatomaceous earth outside around plants and in flower pots. It is safe for animals except for insects. It breaks down an insect's exoskeleton and they dehydrate which kills them. They don't even like to walk on the dust. I wouldn't use it on an animal itself due to it dries out skin, fur, and feathers but on the ground or in flower pots is ok. You will need to reapply it when it rains or you water your plants. It will kill beneficial insects such as bees so be careful to use it only on the ground and try to keep as much as possible off the leaves of the plants.

I've got 2 warddrobes which taking up maybe 1/5 of my room so theres no chance i can move them, do u know how i could possibly kill fleas behind them?
Can i use this on bedding and matresses too?
Do you use baking soda and salt in equal proportion?
I know that might be a lot but i am rlly struggling to get these fleas out the carpet, ive kept millie downstairs so far so that she isnt exposed to carpet but i think she misses sleeping with me inn my bed so im trying my best to get rid of these fleas ASAP.
Ive got atleast 20 bites on each leg😑
Also ive downloaded your free guide😄
Gonns hopefully try this method tonight or tmrw❤
    Thank you❤

There are a lot of ways/reasons cats get fleas - and in all cases, it starts with the environment - something like 95% of the flea population lives in the yard.
I have a flea series that will help you get organized and know what to do - it's free - floppycats.co/flea - oh wait, I see you downloaded it - so hopefully by now you have plenty ideas of what to do.
This is what I do now - I vacuum 2x a day for 3 days. And when I say vacuum - I mean, diligently. And then I continue to vacuum for 10 days after that - and will continue to vacuum if I cannot get them under control.
The baking soda and salt is to give you a break from vacuuming.
You also need to get them off your cat - the flea series will give you ideas.
The fleas behind your wardrobes - you could use a spray (see flea series), the baking soda/salt or diatomaceous earth.
Sure you can use the baking soda and salt on your bedding and mattresses - but I would vacuum them diligently before you put it down.
Well, I used the containers you see in the video - don't think they were the same weights, but maybe? The salt is heavier and helps everything drop to the bottom of the carpet. It should dry everything out - fleas like humidity, so less humidity the better.

🧂Couldn't u use fine salt & skip the food processor?

sure - but food processor can also mix the salt and baking soda.

What does the baking soda do ?

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Рік тому +1

embarassingly, i don't know. someone else posted about this - and when i was in flea hell last year, it worked (had to definitely treat my cat too with natural stuff), and was 10x better than diatomaceous earth which caused a horrible cloud of dust. i just googled it - "How does baking soda kill fleas? By mixing baking soda and salt into a formula you are making a dehydrating agent. This will dry out the fleas, their eggs, and the larvae. This will kill them off so that they do not reproduce and spread." www.cpccares.com/blog/does-baking-soda-kill-fleas-on-dogs/#:~:text=How%20does%20baking%20soda%20kill,do%20not%20reproduce%20and%20spread. and then "Baking soda does not kill adult fleas and will do nothing to protect your pets. It is excellent at absorbing smells and has been suggested by some online pet sites for use as a flea killer because it “may” dry out flea eggs and larvae. But there is no evidence that using baking soda to kill fleas is effective at all." www.petmd.com/dog/parasites/5-flea-and-tick-treatments-dont-work

I think the baking soda adds some weight when I use it blended with the powdered salt, which really likes to float around. So, for whatever reason for baking soda, I like that it weighs down the salt to really get down into the carpet and kill those larvae

The salt attracts the fleas, the soap or baking soda then kills them when they eat the salt.

maybe like 2 weeks - the problem with fleas is their lifecycle and how they reproduce. it differed depending on your situation. gotta treat more than just the carpet. Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment ➡ floppycats.co/flea will explain it.

Don't forget to apply under couches and chairs, as my 2 cats would frequent those areas & best of all, not poisonous & also will kill ROACHES :-) ;-)

Our vet is very opposed to diatomaceous earth or baking soda because it’s not good for the pets to inhale. Your video inspired me, but we happened to have an appt so I showed the vet and asked.
Curious to know if your kitties developed any respiratory issues during treatment (sneezing or coughing, etc). I’m genuinely curious because our single indoor-only kitty recently had fleas.
What is the product you used outside in the trees? We also have raccoons living somewhere nearby.

    • @Floppycats

No, they did not. we had two flea infestations in a year's time. last October and then in July. And both times, no problems....I will say they might have had some itching issues from being so dried out, but definitely not respiratory things.
I use Nematodes and Cedarcide in my yard - every other week I do one or the other . All my flea videos are here: ua-cam.com/video/XtKKimz2F-M/v-deo.html
I haven't totally tested it yet, but think that AnimalEO's KittyBoost animaleo.info/product/kittyboost/ - is what I will use from here on out and then just vacuum every day.
I have made a page about all the things I have found since dealing with this - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html - the latest thing I have learned is putting an amethyst in drinking water!
