    That was very cool of Rotrex, not only by allowing you in, but to also take their time to let you build the supercharger and film it for you. It gave a great insight into the process, and how the company operates.

    Rotrex has been a great company to me also. I am doing a special custom build, and unfortunately the larger units can get pricey. I messaged them regarding some design data, and possibly some 3d cad data for solidworks mock up. They were more then helpful to send along any info i needed to design and prototype with. Even to the point that i was able to 3d print some mockup dummies to test fit with. They were magnitudes more helpful then the slouches at Vortech superchargers who wouldn't even give you the time of day. The Rotrex is light years ahead in design then the other centrifugal supercharger companies.
    One thing to keep in mind is Rotrex has very specific design parameters (oil feed placement setup, and drive constraints). The Rotrex do not like sudden rpm changes "ie" banging off the rev limited.. etc. and had issues with input shafts snapping when folks were stressing them with erratic rpm changes.. So during testing its best to slowly work your way up to higher pulley ratios and keep rpm changes as smooth as possible (more so on the larger units which have alot more inertia moving inside) I believe their newer units have strengthened input design.

    • @aleksejunas

      Would it be possible to use a freewheel pulley from an alternator on the rotrex input?

    • @TheMoistpotato
      @TheMoistpotato Рік тому

      @@aleksejunas In theory yes, however those "freewheel" one way bearings are not designed for the abruptness and high torque transfer that would be seen with these types of applications. Even though this is a small scale super charger, it could easily see 20-40hp of power transfer to drive the supercharger thru the belt drive of the system. Larger units can consume 150-300hp thru the drive system to run the supercharger. Those one way bearings (in stock sizes) might have issues with internal locking. Would need to test to find out.

  • @dirtygarageguy

    You're gonna have to be very mindful of fuelling when you shut the throttle at pressure. I'd also test the carb body and seals at pressure. Apply 2 bar to the carb and see if it leaks. You also have to be mindful of fire. Leaks at the carbs have both air and fuel at high pressure, this is basically a flame thrower.

    • @oliverscorsim
      @oliverscorsim Рік тому +2

      Most motorcycle carbs do fine until 30psi and a simple plenum that encloses it will stop that issue easy. As for when you close the throttle it should have vacuum behind it. You can also go a good bit higher without enclosing it with flat or round slide carbs than you can with a CV although the CV will tune easier. The pwk I'm using now sees over 60psi occasionally and aside from a brace to hold the bowl on and a small oring where the cable goes it barely makes any leaks. (Small mist around the cable hole)

      @@dirtygarageguy great plan but not so easy to test. It's a small problem most of the time and I don't think we're gonna see Alex take this thing over 25psi tbh. Would be awesome if he did and if he plans on it I'd skip all that and just put it in the plenum so it can't be an issue.

    Hey bud love the build been here since the first vid. Check out my vid explaining a simpler blow through set up. Stick to blow through the charge cooling is worth the headache over efi. We saw -250°f across the carb on e85 and more like -110°f on efi. I have zero experience with that carb specifically but as far as normal motorcycle carbs go the pwk is very tuneable. We even moved the powerjets out of the carb and into the intake trumpet for some fuel flow alitte earlier for cooling. I would say if my turbo 155cc needs about 675cc of plenum to smooth out the pulses all the way your 2stroke probably will need about 400cc. Do remember to put your pitot tube after the bov and before the plenum youl thank me later. If you need any help with it iv done about 50 blow through set ups. Those fuel pressure regulators are hell. I did get one to work but getting that base pressure low enough is not fun (youl have to make or modify the spring) it won't go low enough consistently. And it's kinda a big setup (heavy and space is always an issue for bikes). Currently to make things safer I made a small tank about a liter with a check valve from the tank and a vent with some baffles. It's still above the carb so gravity gives us base pressure then boost gives us the rise. I pressurized the tank for a long time but as boost got over 45psi I didn't like how much the tank was growing. This iv tested to 120psi and it doesn't move. Saved me 11lbs and a ton of space going this way and no more super rich on decel and more power available for spark not having to run the pump from my little stator. Best of luck I can't wait for the next one and don't feel bad blow through isn't exactly an easy thing it's okay to pull some hair out during it lol.

    While looking at the C15 the other day and doing a rough calculation of the engine to blower ratio it suddenly occurred to me what was happening with the Roots blower. As you mentioned in this video, the pulses from the Roots blower would be out of phase with the engine and you would not be able to come close to solving that without an enormous plenum chamber. Perhaps a multi-vane blower could have helped but I think this blower will solve a lot of the problems in a much more satisfactory way.

    Hey Alex, putting the carb downstream of the turbo will pressurize the carb, you will not draw any fuel into the airstream.
    How about something like a plug and play Holley EFI, that allows you to set air fuel mix accurately using an O2 sensor in the exhaust
    Keep up the good work we love it

    The boost curve rises with rpm on your new compressor. Unlike the roots. You will need to install a good blow off valve to control boost.

    I've found drinking equal parts water and drink of choice by volume eliminates hangovers. It also cuts the amount you can drink in half, which also helps.

    Yeah I'm also pretty shy about doing videos around other people, definitely something to work on in the future. Anyway looks like that charger was built with quality parts...assembly quality I'm not so sure about!🤣Lol just kidding but excited to see how the Rotrex works out!
