one of the most powerful performances on guitar ever , by anyone , stochelo captures the emotion of the piece with such mastery and precision , i'm blown away every time i watch this !
It must be transcendental to be able to play the Improvisation in such a way, it's like shaking hands with Django in some strange fashion. 2:18, it looks like Stochelo's in a trance. Fascinating.
for anyone into guitar to not have listened to Django is an insult to the influence he had.. and for anyone into bleeding their soul into guitar, yet again, an insult to the heart in Djangos playing.. not imitatable, obviously(unless your a psychotic like stochelo), but definately a necessary exposure to truly Great guitar playing.
@JustM3Luck - many guitar players in the 60's were into Django, whether or not they sound like him. Jimi's BAND OF GYPSY'S- i heard was a name inspired by Django
i agree 100% if their was no django there would have been no clapton, hendrix, montgomery, benson, lagrene, rosenberg(s),pass, atkins, les paul, slash, berry, emmanual, vignola, debarre, van halen,. wether it was directly or indirectly django had an extremly major inluence on all these guitarist and other throughout the world, wether it be jazz rock metal fusion funk smooth jazz he had suck an influence and on the idea of the guitar itself and being played the way it is
And just think about this. Django wrote and performed this better than Roseburg with only his index and middle finger fretting the board of the guitar.
