everybody talks about Stochelo (and yes, he IS worth talking about...), no one about Florin Nicolescu, who happens to be one of the finest violin players that ever walked this earth...
I was really into heavy metal since the 1980s now at 55 ,I really dig this ! And I bought my son and I an acoustic guitar that's how I found this..Probably take me another 55 years to play like this ,I was watching videos of Django Reinhardt
I consider this is an strange, beautiful and also difficult musical experienece, that is to conjugate a Django Reinhardt and Graphelly combo like group vs a classical large orquestra.... I have played rithymn guitar with an Argetine quintet (Baby Loperz Furst brothes "The Blue Strings") back in the sixties and still nowadays, at my eight threre years old, I do not recall something like this. Unique !
I found this a few days ago while listening to various videos featuring Stochelo Rosenberg and now I've seen it soooo may times. One of the most beautiful pieces musical interpretation I have ever heard. Just breathtaking on all counts. And given that I think it's Django's birthday about now, a fitting tribute, don't you think?
Fitzliputzli23 thank you, I know what guitar is , and I also play nylon strings and made many recordings, the sound is clearly nylon - and Stochelo always played nylon strings - but look closer and carefully at the strings between the minutes 1,29' - 1,49 ' and especially at the moment 2,03 - you can see the nylon strings very clear
Claudiu Cont To be precise, it is both: For many years now Stochelo plays Silk and Steel strings (mostly Galli, sometimes D'Addario). But you cannot see the nylon because it is steelwound. B and high E strings are plain steel. No nylon here. These kind of strings are pretty common among gypsy players. I use them too.
Fitzliputzli23 maybe it is as you say and sometimes Stochelo uses also steel strings ...I have a DVD with Trio Rosenbeg since many many years ago ... along the years I have seen that Stochelo uses the same guitar and the same nylon strings .. it would be so interesting to see a video in which we could see Stochelo's guitar in a very explicit description !.. peace to you, my Brother !... :)

Agreed
That's because he's a violin player lol (says the guitar player).
Флорин Николеску просто виртуозный музыкант !Какое мастерство !!!!!!???
Florin Niculescu a gypsy guy from Bucharest, my home town! So proud!!
Stochello took the guitar into another realm on the lmprov
The two empty seats are for Django and Stephane and the tears are from heaven. NT
sigh....knock it off....
Those two empty chairs in front can only be for Django and Grapelli and these are their tears of joy! Sublime...
Florin Niculescu's playing is simply spellbinding.
definetely the closest to stephane grappelli ive ever heard!

Stochelo can give metal players a lesson or two on clarity.

I would like to see a metal player doing this stuff with an acoustic guitar. No chance

Lush strings are luscious around great soloists. Wonderfully rich piece.

Great! I saw this amazing violin player at UCLA, in Los Angeles, as part of Bireli Lagrene's group. Grappelli has an impressive heir!

Wow, love that mellow sound of the guitar! It is not as trebly as usual. Almost like nylon strings...
there are nylon strings ... :)
Claudiu Cont This is Stochelo's 1930's Selmer, it is a steel string. It just sounds a little "nylonish" in this mix.
