The CASUALLITY with which that was uttered is the most disturbing part. Matt Smith Nailed it
I still think 9 was the most unsettling of modern Doctors. because he doubted his every step but when he went dark you saw he was fully lucid, fully aware of what he's doing and most of the time rather causal about it. He smiled while electrocuting the Dalek and he just stood there as Casandra died

@@PeoplecallmeLucifer it goes to show that once the War Doctor finally regenerates and the time stream fixes itself with the sync, 9th remembers that what he just did a few moments ago was the most monstrous thing he ever did, and he actively runs away from this truth even though he couldn't remember before the time sync. 9th just came out of the Time War. So he's gonna be a really disturbed individual.

Well yes, cybermen are truly the most tragic monsters in the show. To remove all pain, sorrow, anger, and happiness just to not go completely insane is a tragic thing. When the doctor gave a cyberman it's emotions back, it curled up and said "So... Cold... Why am i... so... cold..." before killing itself. And cybermen aren't exactly compassionate, but they're more than willing to strike deals with people if it benefits them. Mickey smith was at war with the cybermen for years, but they were willing to put all that aside to fight the daleks together.

All of these doctors acted so well in all these scenes.
My favourites part is probably the scene with Nine after yelling at the Daleks and it says "You destroyed us" you can see him stop from where he was moving before and stands still staring "I had no choice" his tone changes from spitting, yelling, accusing and furious, to something still angry hateful but broken with an undertone of guilt and that hatred turned inward, showing how much he questioned whether there was any other way and despair at how that was the only way he knew at the time.
Cause he knows what he did was terrible and its almost bearable with the greater good it was for but really he hasn't been able to forgive himself.
And here we see him quickly turn this self hatred back on the Dalek, posing as 'gloating' his deeds to the dalek but you can feel that he has no pride over his deeds, that maybe he doesn't really believe that hes any better than the dalek he's questioning the point of.
Anyways hes not my favourite doctor but i really love how well Nine set up the doctors guilt and anger over the time war.

This may be unpopular, but I really hated that Moffat came in like "Umm, actually, none of that happened, the doctor doesn't kill people, he's a good guy lol" it completely cheapened the doctor's entire backstory and destroyed the whole notion that he is the only man who would burn a galaxy to save the universe.
Throughout his tenure, Moffat made it clear that he can't stand characters actually, properly dying, and it did a real disservice to the characters and made so many plot points difficult to take seriously

I was going to disagree, but then I really thought about the fantastic scenes that both Classic AND New Who have given us, and, then I got sad at the thought that we may never get anything as good again, and that we haven't for several years on top of that.
Some of the stories, they seem trite or stereotypical on first thought, but the amazing actors (including some I either don't like, or just took time to like) truly elevated the material, made the stories more than the sum of their parts. The lore that had been both carefully curated and expanded over time, expanded while keeping it self consistent, changing or being updated with genuine thought and consideration for the ramifications on the (in show) universe.
It truly used to be a masterclass of a show. Recently, it's become nothing more than a mockery of what it once was. I tried, but failed to enjoy Jodie Whitakers doctor, she was either badly miscast, or very badly directed throughout her tenure, and so much of the standing Who lore was vandalised to push a current day social agenda. Most of what was done during her "era" could have been done sensibly and diegetically, but with care to make sure it happens with the right characters, at the right time. Most of it felt shoe horned in, forced and much more focused on being seen to do it than actualy caring to be a compelling or touching story.
I was excited to watch Whitakers Dr before I actually did watch it, I had seen her in Broadchurch amongst a few other things, and thought she was a fantastic actor. I was saddened and disappointed with the resulting show.
Long story short, yeah, I agree.
