The roller wear can simply be from a tight valve adj during break in. Amsoil is great oil. 100% synthetic. Any oil that says full synthetic is a blend oil. HD oil and so on.
NEVER have your engine work done by a Harley dealer...they're techs are trained to replace HD junk parts w/more junk parts...especially, HD SE junk. you wanna put $$$ into your bike...hit a major rally! they do it for livin and they won't use junk HD parts.
Naw.... he just selling stuff. First of all why would a cam plate flex. Its aluminum cast, It would crack if it were to flex. A high out put oil pump in a low oil pressure machine seems redundant but ok. Now good bearings and larger oil passages is whats called for.
@bigwu100 Just FYI, twin cam oil pumps only put out 1/2 pound of pressure at idle. We aren't here to sell anything. We are here to show products that work The reason a lot of HD engines don't make it to high mileage. In my case 2014, CVO 110 with 30,000 miles have had the whole lower end done. Transmission bearings were all replaced. I'm not sure where you think HD V Twin are low oil pressure machines? At 55 mph the oil pressure should be 30 to 36 psi. V8 engines average the same.

What year Harley and where are you in this video?
2014 CVO limited, had work done at Speeds Performance Plus in Rapid city
Just showed up, what's the bike your working on? I have a 2015 soft tail 103 CI with 6000 miles what should I worry about? I also have 1977 shovel AMF era, don't get me started on that. Thanks...
2014 limited CVO 110
What was the cost of the cam work (,the entire job)
just under $4000. including Dyno
Chinese Parts the auto industry is having the same problems.
Thanks for watching
Bob I was thinking what does a repair upgrade for what you did cost ? I have been thinking of doing something on mine. Appreciate the information!! awesome channel and how are you satisfied with the upgrade. Any benefits /increased mileage /horsepower rideability etc would love to hear
With Dyno total under $4000.
@@bobandtams Wow! Must be nice to be made of money! I looked at the S&S upgrade kit and needed extras and the parts tally looks like ~ $1,500 total. I'd like to go gear drive but I don't have the measuring rig so it's kind of a crap shoot whether I will be able to go that route. This project would definitely stretch my abilities.... would be very satisfying if I pull it off but depressing (and expensive) if I both the job. Looks straightforward enough (2010 FXSTC)... being retired $1,500 is a lot of dough to spend on a bike that runs well now. $4k is pretty much out of my range.
@@franksaxton3583 We are retired too, we put on a credit card and made payments on it.
In 2004 going for the gear drive conversion SE adjustables, cam kit cam , cam plates, oil pump ,gear drive, inner / outer bearings , ex gaskets. Total £1510 inc 6 hours labour.
Se pushrods cyco pads new koyo inner cam bearings .Total £600
What year is your bike??? I have an 05 (fxdli) with a 95 S&S kit so I figured yours is 06-13 somewhere but my 05 needs a new front head the upper exhaust stud has been replaced 4 times through 2 different exhaust systems and now no type of heli coi or threaded insert will fit cuz the hole is now like a cheap hooker loose and sloppy but they go on eBay from like 160-400$ which sux but better than a new s&s head for $1,300 and I can have both heads matched + ported all together for around $675 total and while I wait I can get to work checking the timing chain tensioner replace it or leave it put my new (rebuilt) starter in while I do that I'll check the primary chain and the clutches and hope/pray that all is well and hopefully by the20th-21st I'll be on my ass riding down the highway (I 95 ) from New England south to wherever it leads me I'm shooting for west Virginia to look at some property but who knows that's kind of the fun of 1-up riding.lmao ya never know what's next. .it's about the journey how ya get there and who ya meet along the way good or bad
2014 hope you got your's fixed
So what was the noise ? Lifter?
Yes
Great video. I am considering the same work on my 110. Why did you do the rockers at that time too. I didn't see the head covers come off in the video.
I wanted to stop some of the issues I heard can happen to the 110
He cut the lifters with bolt cutters thus eliminating having to remove rocker boxes.
Or push rods to be specific.
It a Harley its suppose to make noise. If you want a powerful quiet ride buy a Honda.
No it was a clicking like a rock on the tire noise. With new part it have other noise now which is normal. The work done was not to just find the noise it was to avoid the isdues 110 has.
Paaaatiiiing
Thanks
Will I like it?
Of course
Not telling how to do a job, but why ez start cam with ACR heads? Unless I missed something I skip around but s$s is good stuff been using them for decades
I've used easy start cams in several bikes, It still could have trouble as they get more miles....Easier now a little more money to not worry..We ride in alot of over 115 here in the desert
Yes excessive heat will decorate engine parts
Yes it will
how much?
With dyno $3400
what did that cost you ?
and is there any warranty with the work ?
$3500 includes Dino 1 year warranty
Alot of oil when the side cover came off?
At least it was full
@@bobandtams looks to be sumping, check out kevin baxter videos on the problem cheers
@@crunchytheclown9694...I believe that sumping issue will be corrected with the S&S oil pump as they were running a stock plate/pump. 🤔
Ok so what was the final number’s from the dyno?
It didn't change much have to look it up snd do a video on it
Going to have to check and do a video on it
Hey can you give me a part number for the rear adjustable pegs?
Kuryakyn Adjustable Passenger Pegs
Can't find the ones for my bike bought them in 2014. Check with J & P cycles for your bike
@@bobandtams yeah I couldn't seem to find them for our peg mounts, I have the same as you. But thanks I'll look little harder
How much did all of this cost
with dyno 3600
All of those parts from S&S are about $1800 + Labor. Should have just bought a new S&S motor.
No SS motor is around 7500.00 plus labor. Total here was 3600 includes Dyno. I had good compression
So it wasn't mechanical? It was an exhaust heat shield?
That's what I heard was the noise came after the pipes were put on, also that guy doing the work used alot of special tools, Cresent wrenches.🤔
I didn't say the rest, it was seated right on the front cylinder
no crescent wrenches used
My old 1991 Ducati had stock everything, it also had a noise , but it was at 195,000 miles !!!! Just get a better bike 🏍 😎 🤣 😫
Thanks for sharing
Nobody cares about your Italian bike. If he wanted an Italian bike he would have bought one.
@@jeremydickerson1049 I don't care about problems with your loud ,chrome air compressor!!!
So parts and labor for the Job was around $3K?
Just under 4,000 included Dyno. which is about 600
@@bobandtams Thats a little high...parts are between 1750 to 1950 and labor is between 3.5 to 5hours...But when your out on a Run away from home you cant shop around...
How much did that cost you?
With Dyno under $4000.
What engine oil were you using normally ?
last 2 oil changes Amsoil. bike has 22,000 miles, Into HD once. I would have to check Speeds did it twic. That's just from memory with out looking at receipts
The roller wear can simply be from a tight valve adj during break in. Amsoil is great oil. 100% synthetic. Any oil that says full synthetic is a blend oil. HD oil and so on.
@@joec2174 yes Adam told us that.
How many miles on the bike?
then was 22,000
NEVER have your engine work done by a Harley dealer...they're techs are trained to replace HD junk parts w/more junk parts...especially, HD SE junk. you wanna put $$$ into your bike...hit a major rally! they do it for livin and they won't use junk HD parts.
Speeds does pretty much all my engine work
you didnt check the crank runout... the most important thing...
Yes we did 3.5
@@bobandtams .0035
Make all the alterations you want it’s still a Harley Tractor. 🤷♂️
Thanks for watching
How much does that job cost?
$3600. Includes Dino
🙏😁👍👍🏖
thanks
Did the cams effect your fuel mileage
Not than I can tell
How long did this actually take ?
4 hrs
What year Harley?
2014
Just wondering what the horsepower and torque are?
I would have to look didn't change much
Naw.... he just selling stuff. First of all why would a cam plate flex. Its aluminum cast,
It would crack if it were to flex. A high out put oil pump in a low oil pressure machine seems redundant but ok. Now good bearings and larger oil passages is whats called for.
@bigwu100 Just FYI, twin cam oil pumps only put out 1/2 pound of pressure at idle. We aren't here to sell anything. We are here to show products that work
The reason a lot of HD engines don't make it to high mileage.
