Kate Veale - Chasing the Olympic dream & the journey so far

  • This week I sit down with Irish racewalker Kate Veale.
    Kate is currently chasing Olympic qualification in the marathon race walk mixed relay and has a last shot at getting the the qualification time set by athletics Ireland to go to the European championships later this year (although she already met the European standards and will be invited to race)
    After winning the World Youth Championships in 2011 things didn't work out quiet as expected for Kate and plenty of ups and downs were experienced on her path back to competitive racing.
    In this conversation we chat about Kates current racing and goals, her journey so far in this sport, mindset, perspective on life and race day fuelling and preparation.
    It's a very interesting conversation and quiet an inspirational journey which I definitely take a lot of hope from and excitement for Kates future in the sport.
