I cut this stone for a client. I like using this diagram. It gives a reflection pattern that is brilliant with a little more going on when compared to the standard round brilliant.
Thanks! I have been really busy and haven't been able to work on my videos as much as I like. I have the shots for a video I filmed about 2 months ago but haven't gotten around to editing yet. A client wanted some shots of their stone during cutting. When I put it together, I thought it was a good shorter video and would give something while still not having my next video done.
As I watched you facet the bottom portion of the stone I started wondering if you put more facets on it if it would increase the brilliance of the stone. Thank you for answering my question!!!
Almost. They do lightly touch sometimes, but unless I were to hold my fingers there for a while, it doesn't really do anything. Sometimes my nails get slightly ground or a little scratched.
There are 3 things you set for each tier of facets: the protractor angle, the index wheel, and the mast height. The angle is set once per tier, you rotate the index for each facet, and set the height stop for the tier. In a perfect world every facet in the tier exactly duplicates the first, but in reality there’s a little cutting and a lot of looking.

I really love the way this one tuned out. Always happy to see another video from you

nice, glad to see you're still making videos
I’ll agree that design is brilliant. Norman Steele came up with a lot of great designs for faceting.
Doppin’ and cuttin’ like a boss. Go Matt.
Keep the videos coming. Great content.
Terrific stone, great vid!
Beautiful. Very nice stone
❤❤❤❤❤ VERY RELAXING AND INTRIGUING
:DDD It goes so much faster than the big quartz pieces!
Beautiful stone👌👌👌
Lovely! How big was the stone and what is the final yield? Do you know if it's heat treated?
Very cool!

Hi, very thanks
How did you keep the stone on that rod? Was it glued on?
How much would a stone like this be worth?
you just put your fingers on the grindstone?

Stupid question, How do you evenly grind each facet to the right angle and size? I am sure there is some indexer on the machine but I haven't seen it.
