    I opened up the muffler, removed spark arrestor on my 572. It seemed to be quicker on acceleration and a little more torque. It came with huskys new chain and it has held up very well. I usually cutting 20 to 30 inch hardwood. Been using 20 inch bar on it. I noticed if you drop "rakers" it simply adjusts fuel and keeps cutting. I do use 390 for way bigger timber. From nwest wisconsin.

    Those huskys scream with rpms. I cut firewood for years n tho I own both stihl n husky. My husqvarna 460 put some serious wood thru her day. Had an old stihl 028 as a backup back then n was tough torque beast but not near the revs. Kate looked like she held her own. Oak looked like butter but we all have our favorites. Creatures of habit we are. Great video man. Def the dream you get to call “work “.

    that rotten tree reminded me of a quick story back in the late 80's. i had just bought my 20 acres of land in upstate NY, and had the house built. in November it was deer season, and i went into the woods to hunt. i had to walk uphill, and being a really big guy, ( fat ) when i got up to the flat spot i was going to hunt, i was exhausted. i see this big tree, and decided to rest and lean up against it. yup, it was rotten just inside of the bark, and both me and the tree went down like a ton of you know what. i was shocked i went down, but my two cousins were laughing so much, they couldn't help me off the ground.

    The 572 should handle a 24" full comp. I ran one in some hard white oak and it was good. No falling with it though. Have to keep a sharp chain.

    Hi logger Wade yes I went from a Style 22" bar, then moved to a little bigger saw with a 28" bar now that wasn't bad. Settled on a 26" bar in a bigger saw in the end. Then once I tried an even bigger Style with a 48" bar way to big for my liking. A smaller bar just means smarter cutting I find on medium wood.

      fox hunter my friend has a 359 and it’s a great saw. I have a ms362c-m and it’s also a great saw. Something around the 60cc range is gonna be great for bigger wood but still sorta light and fast for small stuff. My saw has the m tronic carb so it revs extremely fast so limbing small stuff it’s quick and easy as there’s zero lag for throttle response. I run a 25” bar on mine and it’s at its limit with it but it’s ok just need to let it take its time. 20” would be fast and light.

    Who picks the tree you cut down?

    • @Gixzer04
      @Gixzer04 5 років тому +1

      Pete Nolte the tree typically volunteers. If not ,logged wade picks any that look at him funny. Ok seriously, a logger buys a stand of selected timber on his terms via mill demand , in house or outsourced. Then said timber is priced , marked and agreed upon ie; LW and landowner. Then it’s purchased for said agreed price and cut. It appears this is a mature select harvest thinning cut / management job. All prices are termed in agreement with market values etc , each timber company can be different tho they’ve learned what works n what’s fair.

    • @Gixzer04
      @Gixzer04 5 років тому +1

      Pete Nolte forgot to add , landowners also have a say in timber they want harvested or NOT harvested. They work together and will be very clear n certain with each tree. Could be a “clear cut” which all trees are cleared. Several methods or general ideas ,of how each job, is selected and cut.
