It’s Florida. Hurricanes are a thing you have to consider. Though that is pretty much the case all along the gulf coast and up the entire east coast as well. But in Florida at least along the coast, the homes are designed to be able to withstand the wind. The newer homes are designed to withstand higher wind speeds than older homes. So the biggest issues become flooding so you want a home built at a higher elevation above sea level or elevated off the ground and the power outages after the storm has passed. This is where a generator or solar with battery backup becomes helpful. You can of course live without electricity but in the summer when the main part of Hurricane season is, in Florida, it is not comfortable.
Location and lifestyle! There are so many different options out there. And we find so often that people go on to real estate search websites and look at homes and fall in love with a home and buy it but a year later they hate it because they didn’t consider the location and lifestyle they wanted before they moved. The house itself is really probably 3rd or 4th down the list on importance of what people should be looking for in order to be happy with their new home.
