Living in a house where the backyard is waterfront to a canal or even the coast, is a privilege that expands by a lot the possibilities and life quality❣️🤯
@3:06 that's actually my canal. @18:45 Disgraceful eyesore that will most likely never be finished. It's a shame they were ever allowed to purchase that property much less break ground on that travesty of a pipe dream. Anyone with more than two functioning brain cells to rub together knew that abomination would never work as originally planned. It would have to be continually revised and dumbed down until it was no longer economically viable to finish and ultimately abandoned. At this point, I'm just thankful it's not any taller.
Ironically, this video popped up in my recommended as my husband and i are seriously thinking about moving to one of these areas after taking a couple vacations to it recently. Really needed this video right now! 🤗
I lived there from 1968 to 1983. It was my Home. Charlie blew my Moms House down . It was so sad because she and her husband put some much care and love in to it and all of a sudden it was gone. I now live in Las Vegas and it is no picnic. Not so much humidity, but 120 degrees plus heat sometimes, Monsoon System is the worst. I was a Land Surveyor there, so I know. Trade off that's all. Florida's bugs, snakes, flying cockroaches', no see ems, love bugs and sand spurs , humidity are not missed. Lemon Bay was my favorite.

Live on the gulf coast, 13 + years. Here's some info the realtors and advertisers never tell you. You need deep, healthy pockets. True, you don't have to be a multi-millionaire, but owning a beach house is a lot like owning a yacht---it's a black hole you keep dumping money into. Everything, even things you never imagined, need constant repair and replacement. Paint, electronics, appliances, wood, automobiles....pretty much anything that corrodes or deteriorates---cut its normal lifespan by 2/3s, and that should give you an idea. Flood & storm insurance increases every single year. Plan on your monthly insurance payments starting at or near to your mortgage payment, and then add10% to it every year. Plan on undergoing a storm evacuation at least once every 5-6 years, and God help you if a hurricane actually strikes within 50 miles of your place. Oh, and you'd better be a people person, because your gorgeous little slice of paradise will be invaded for 4-5 months a year by obnoxious tourists who think all beach property is public property.
@@TampaAerialMedia I've watched far too many of both retirees and younger couples reach for the dream of a beach life and lose their shirts because they weren't prepared for the true costs, and negatives, of living on the coast.
