Seven games 412 bosses, there is no way for me to include all the amazing bosses without doing a top 100, so rest of the list is yours to complete. Ludwig, Malenia, Friede, who are the other bosses that deserve a spot in the list of greatest bosses.
Hot take, malenia doesnt deserve top 10. Yeah shes a good boss, but the healing is completely unnecessary, doesnt even make sense lore wise and she literally breaks the rules of the game by after beign correctly punished when she uses a move that she cant combo into another move she sometimes decides to recovery cancel into other moves, for example into waterfowl. No boss that feels unfair imo deserves to be at the top
@@Teyupume i think outside of those problems shes a good boss. All they would have to do to fix her is remove her recovery cancels and healing and maybe make her use waterfowl only on hp thresholds (for example 75 and 20% hp)
Based on how you play that Messmer fight of course he will be your favourite. You should watch my Messmer, I'm screaming and panic rolling the entire time.
I was the same on my first play through but when you get to see his moves the fight become more and more easy yet fun Now he is the only boss I want to fight in DLC over and over again
The thing that always makes Gael stand above the others for me personally, is his lore and the fact he is with us through both dlcs from start to literally being the last fight in the series. Also his fight is flawless, tied with messmer, Midir and Maliketh for me.
I watched the Messmer kill frame by frame, yes you actually hit Messmer twice with single blow there, I didn't know it was possible it opens room for some crazy burst combos.
I know a lot of people say Nameless King was the hardest boss in DS3, but I would argue that it’s Sister Friede. She gave me more trouble than any other boss in the game.
Oh my god new souls fans😂. You guys weren’t there for that part of the games history and it’s ok but at least try to understand what the opinions were at the time. At time of release the most thought it was nameless king. Once the dlcs swung around it switched to midir.
Community consensus over DS3s life seemed to be Nameless -> Friede (upon her release) -> Midir (upon his release) ->Friede (most common consensus nowadays I think)
Your beautiful, practically poetic description of the Orphan of Kos has completely changed the way I see this boss. Also, love your fashion, especially during the encounter with Gael 😍
As Bloodborne is the only Fromsoft game I’ve played so far, I’ll mention my two favorite bosses from that game: Ludwig the Accursed/Holy Blade and Gehrman. Both are tragic figures, both have amazing music, and both were incredibly fun to fight (although Ludwig was the hardest for me to beat, even compared to the Orphan)
Very solid list. Personally Messmer and Isshin are my two favorite in the series. Would’ve personally added Ludwig and Sister Friede. Love how Godfrey and Midra were included both get overlooked imo.
After having recently beaten Nameless King, I can really appreciate just how well the camera works in Messmer fight. With Nameless King, Ulcerated tree spirits and many other big or fast moving bosses, the camera refuses to show the action and becomes disoriented at best. With Messmer (and Bayle, I think) he does these crazy movements, big transformations and so on, and you can still tell what is going on the whole time. While not my personal favorite, he is truly a magnificient boss. Love your list!
I actually think consort radahn is a fun fight. The phase 2 adds an element of "the floor is lava", but THE LAVA IS LIGHT BEAMS A FEMBOY SENDS YOU FROM UP HIS ASS, AND THEY SLIGHTLY MOVE YOU TO MESS UP YOUR POSITIONING, AND MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PUNISH WITH BIG WEAPONS
Great video! Really enjoyed it. My list is slightly different and I love Bayle more than Midir personally. My top 10 would be: Messmer, Gehrman, Radabeast, Isshin, Bayle, Ludwig, Owl father, Maliketh, Malenia, Gael. Its hard to pick some of these but definitely Messmer at the top. The last few are undecided and could change with honourable mentions. Honourable Mentions: Hoarah Loux, Midra, Orphan of Kos, Mohg, Maria, Rellana, soul of cinder, nameless king, Morgott, Genichiro. Some of these could even end up in the top ten its hard to decide. So many I want to acknowledge. Truly an incredible series.
I love what you said about the nostalgia behind Gael because I absolutely love him and consider him the best boss fight in the souls formula of combat (excluding sekiros combat obviously) but I found myself intentionally dying to messmer on future playthroughs so I could keep fighting him over and over because I was having so much fun.
Ludwig should have at least gotten an honorable mention. For me, that boss fight is a 10/10 in lore, Attacks, the cutscene, and especially the music track. All of it culminates too a very memorable final dance with a fallen warrior that tells a fantastic story.
My 10 favorite souls bosses are: - Inner Isshin - Inner Father - Inner Genichiro - Corrupted Monk - Demon of Hatred - Artorias - Manus - Morgott - Malenia - Gael I haven’t played DeS, DS2, or BB. Dark Souls is my favorite souls game, but Sekiro easily has my favorite bosses.
Personally Bayle is my favorite fight, especially with Igon and a dragon build. It may not be from a souls game but I also like the Allmind fight from Armored Core 6 that uses all of the movements in the final battle.
I know that people tend to hate delayed attacks, but I think that those are the most telegraphed attacks ever. I need to see such attacks only 3 times: first time I get hit by it, second time when I see it I count how much seconds the delay lasts and on third time I dodge it. And every single time afterwards because I already know the animation start, how much time I have (and if I may insert an attack in this window myself) and the exact moment I need to dodge. These are kind of attacks that demand 0 reaction or any skill at all, you just remember it and that's it, after a couple of times it goes to muscle memory and you don't even need to actually remember it in mind.
@@jamesbell1186 I thought Shadow Keep was the best legacy dungeon at first but it's nowhere near Stormveil or Leyndell. It's such a dull place to explore. I really wish it had more outside areas like the area b4 getting to Messmer's arena. Plus, most of the place isn't even challenging, and the enemies that r challenging r not fun at all cos they just spam an annoying fireball constantly.
Beating Radahn was the most underwhelming experience I’ve ever had in a souls game. I figured after fighting one of the hardest bosses in the series you’d get something better than a memory 😢
All the lore for the Dark Souls series really came to a head in Ringed City, plus the build up to Gael (and Midir) was epic. Gael was the best fight in that game and maybe the entire series. Elden Ring just gave us laser light shows to try and up the ante constantly, and Radahn made minimal sense and seemed like a macguffin
Maria, Friede and Rellana are my favorites, just for the beautiful dance, but I would say Orphan, Gael, Isshin and Messmer are the peak of their respective games. It's crazy how many bosses they have now that are fun, cinematic and tough at the same time, and a majority of their boss catalog are two of those three. I just hope we continue to get new iterations on their design. Bloodborne and Sekiro are so unique in terms of gameplay even if I much prefer the lore/setting of The Lands Between.
W lady Maria glaze, she’s my favorite boss in bloodborne Also love what you said about Godfrey, when I did my first summonless play through of Elden ring he became my favorite boss, then when I did my RL1 run I was once again reminded why he’s such great boss. I may have died to him like 50 times but like you said it was because I ran out of stamina (except when he did the phase 2 kick I hate that kick)
20:14 EXACTLY! Godfrey is a fair boss. Not easy (unless when using powerfull builds), but not that difficult either. I really think that he needed a proper 2nd phase with a full health bar. His bossfight is too short.
Isshins heal punish is actually the one problem I have with the fight because you are rewarded for making a mistake by getting a free parry after the heal. For a final boss it just doesnt make sense to me. Still in my top 10
I love so many bosses in the souls series but if I'd rank my top 10, I'd say... 1. Nameless King 2. Champion Gundyr 3. Morgott the Omen King 4. Sword Saint Isshin 5. Godfrey First Elden Lord 6. Festival Starscourge Radahn 7. Slave Knight Gael 8. Orphan of Kos 9. Darkeater Midir 10. Soul of Cinder
As much as I like orphan I'd say it's the 3rd best boss from the dlc. I think both Maria and Ludwig are cooler and more memorable. Harder doesn't always mean better
I agree. It honestly hurts to put orphan as third but he’s like 1 decimal point worse than the others. I even love Laurence which is a hot take. He has the best ost in any souls game.
Idk if this is a hot take or not but… Lady Maria is an amazing fight, great lore, and fun… but I think she has nothing on Sister Friede or Malenia. I have done 8 play throughs of Bloodborne, 100% the game, 4 builds, and I died to her 1 time. Yes 1 time in all 8 play throughs. I know difficulty isn’t everything with a boss but man she is just too easy imo. The other 2 dex ladies are far more challenging and entertaining. Lady Maria laid that groundwork for the other 2 and you gotta respect it.
If I were ranking my top 10: 1. Messmer The Impaler (ER) 2. Slave Knight Gael (DS3) 3. Twin Princes (DS3) 4. Ornstein & Smough (DS1) 5. Bayle The Dread (ER) 6. Artorias (DS1) 7. Abyss Watchers (DS3) 8. Midra Lord of Frenzied Flame (ER) 9. Soul Of Cinder (DS3) 10. Starscourge Radahn (ER) Honorable Mentions: Old King Allant (DS) Manus father of the Abyss (DS1) Sir Alonne (DS2) Sister Friede (DS3) Rykard Lord of Blasphemy (ER) Haven't played Sekiro or Bloodborne so those unfortunately aren't included on the list.
My personal top 3 bosses in the series are in the following order: 1. Gael, 2. Isshin (Inner) and 3. Messmer Reason why I think gael is ranked higher than both are due to the flow of the fight. Gael has a smooth flow throughout the fight, he starts off being barbaric as he is in the beginning then during the 2nd phase becomes a whole other threat with his cape and the rest of his arsenal of spells and crossbow. The third phase is the finale and the cream on top where he uses all sorts of cinematic combos. The two downsides of Gael is his difficulty which falls off once you have learned his attack patterns and the fact that he can be poisebreaked. 2nd Best boss for me is Isshin in his inner form simply because how he embodies the mechanics of sekiros combat perfectly, Owl father is a close second but is held back because of how much he jumps around and his bossfight goes by pretty quickly. The thing with embodying the entire combat system so well is that it also makes it a flaw, which is simply the lightning reversal technique. It makes the entire 3rd phase of Isshin go by fairly quickly if you know what you are doing, the 1st and 2nd phase is what makes isshin truly standout the most. Messmer is like gael and isshin combined, Messmer has the flashiness and flow in combat from gael, while having the "3rd phase" problem from Isshin. To put it simple, Messmer probably has the best 1st phase of any boss in the souls series with a challenging moveset and good flow to the combat, but once he hits second phase it all flips upside down. It almost mimics the same problem that Isshin has with his easy 3rd phase because of the lightning reversal. The issue with Messmer's 2nd phase is the transition from his snake form to his "human" form, where messmer takes approx 3-4 seconds to turn from serpent to human and in those 4 seconds he is INSANELY vulnerable to damage. He takes twice as much damage he normally does which really brings the fun factor from a 10 to a solid 7.
My List has gotta be 1. Orphan 2. Gael 3. Ludwig 4. Bayle 5. Messmer 6. Friede 7. Midir 8. Godfrey 9. Gerhman. 10 Malenia I haven't played ds1 ds2 or sekiro yet but thats my list so far.
Romina the Saint of the Bud might not be the best bossfight but i am a sucker for Bug Girls and oh boy is that one hell of a woman (Queelag ill never forget you)
Midra is the best Elden Ring boss. Also Sony buying Kadokawa is mainly for the anime/manga stuff which means there's a high chance that the games will remain untouched by Sony's influences. Especially since FromSoft sells more copies than Sony does on their own.
hell yea i like midir more too hes just so fun, such a classic, lore is super cool, design is less creative but more appealing to me personally, and i love midirs ost way more
My goated fights would be 1. Messmer 2. Bayle 3. Lorian and Lothric 4. Owl Father 5. Isshin the sword saint 6. Demon Princes 7. Rellana twin moon knight 8. Gael 9. Midir 10. Mohg 11. Midra 12. Soul of cinder 13. Nameless King def some more I also like Astorias, Manus, Kalameet, Fume Knight and Sir Alonne are goated but just don’t hold up to today’s standards oh and no Blood borne bc I don’t own a PlayStation yet.
Messmer is so perfect. I just wish he had more hp and some extra moves in phase 2, or even had a phase 3. Lady Maria is still the best female boss imo. Godfrey was my fav boss until Messmer. I just wish there was a phase where we could fight him with his lion. Imagine them doing combos together. Champion Gundyr deserves more recognition. Personally, I would put Artorias above Midir. I just love everything about him. I also disagree with O&S being one of the best duo fights ever. Phase 1 is the same trash as every ER gank fight. Both bosses attack u at the same time for most of the fight and taking ur eys off either puts u at risk of dying cos there's no rhyme or reason to them. Demon Princes is miles better cos 1 is always passive whilst the other attacks. Ds3 perfected duo fights and then they ruined it with ER.
I honestly agree with basically everything I know this is an unpopular take but I think Laurence is a great boss. People say he’s just a reskin which is blatantly untrue because he has a lot of mixups in phase 1 and his phase 2 completely changes his AI compared to cleric beast and I can comfortably say his ost is probably the best in the entire series, it adds so much quality to the fight it’s unreal.
Idk man NK is awesome but the footage you presented while reasoning why goes in the opposite direction. With just holding forward in the boss' crotch and rolling forward to dodge everything he does this doesn't look like top 1 for me 🤔
I love the video but when you said that Prime Radahn is the prototype for the next souls game I literally just got so sad. Like on release day he was TERRIBLE. Hit boxes were about 2x the actual swords, he isn’t weak to anything his 2nd phase would drop my frames in half and I play on Xbox is I was only at 30. It just wasn’t as fun as Messmer even Messmer was more difficult for me than Radahn.
Bro if you buy a souls-like dlc and there's a female human boss, just assume she's gonna kick your ahh, sister Friede, Lady Maria, and probably others idk about
Nah I'd argue Midir is overall the better fight because it's more consistent. I can't stress the amount of times I whiffed Bayle's head even with long reach weapons, or the camera went crazy because Bayle jumps around a lot and you end up under his belly.
@@markopusic8258 look normally I hate when people say this, but you gotta just git gud, I’ve hitlessed Bayle multiple times with fist weapons, you just need to understand your positioning well and dodge backwards when necessary, you can’t always dodge forward or to the side (ex: dodge backward for the bite combo) Also midir is too easy imo, he took 2 attempts on my first playthrough
Sony won't probably kill from software, they will be just probably telling them what game they must create (f.e. Elden Ring 2 or BLoODbOrNe 2 😆). I think they won't give them a limited time, they're not stupid, we need to just have hope and a good PvP🙏
messmer is NOT flawless. he is not PC Radahn levels of bullshit, but a lot of times i feel like i'm fighting the visual clutter more than the moveset. which the moveset is... fine, really, no complaints on that moveset, but goddamn the visuals are insane.
why tf would sony change anything, they would be just the publisher like with countless other games even bloodborne lmao, they wouldnt change anything in the production bc they see how much money fromsofts games make

Agree with most, but Midir is not a fun boss fight. AND Dancer was revolutionary at the time. Video games had not seen such unique movement and graphics. First time playing dancer when it came out was insane. Also friede kind of pathed the way for modern elden ring bosses, i'd include her too.

Thank you for not pretending like Malenia is a top boss fight
My personal top 3 bosses in the series are in the following order:
1. Gael, 2. Isshin (Inner) and 3. Messmer
Reason why I think gael is ranked higher than both are due to the flow of the fight.
Mine is Maria as number 1 because of how fair her fight is
Midir should’ve been in the honorable mentions, instead of being in the list, and Bayle should’ve been instead of midir.
My List has gotta be
1. Orphan 2. Gael 3. Ludwig 4. Bayle 5. Messmer 6. Friede 7. Midir 8. Godfrey 9. Gerhman. 10 Malenia
I haven't played ds1 ds2 or sekiro yet but thats my list so far.
Ngl i think midir is a terrible bossfight but that could just be me
All my favorite from bosses would be from Sekiro lol, I just love the combat and boss design so much more than the other games so it wouldn’t be fair
hell yea i like midir more too hes just so fun, such a classic, lore is super cool, design is less creative but more appealing to me personally, and i love midirs ost way more
My goated fights would be 1. Messmer 2.
No Father Owl is blasphemy
I honestly agree with basically everything
I know this is an unpopular take but I think Laurence is a great boss. People say he’s just a reskin which is blatantly untrue because he has a lot of mixups in phase 1 and his phase 2 completely changes his AI compared to cleric beast and I can comfortably say his ost is probably the best in the entire series, it adds so much quality to the fight it’s unreal.
The Hornsent were really bad, but Messmer became just as bad as they were.
Sony buying From’s parent company would not destroy From. My god.
Putting Midir before Bayle is absolute cope
Or, hear me out, people have opinions 💀
its about nostalgia
Messmer's a good boss but he is 100% not better than isshin and Gael
Hot take, but consort radhan, once u get gud, is so fun
Bro if you buy a souls-like dlc and there's a female human boss, just assume she's gonna kick your ahh, sister Friede, Lady Maria, and probably others idk about
BAYLE BELOW MIDIR?!?!?! WHAT?!?! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!
I’m calling the police.
Nah I'd argue Midir is overall the better fight because it's more consistent. I can't stress the amount of times I whiffed Bayle's head even with long reach weapons, or the camera went crazy because Bayle jumps around a lot and you end up under his belly.
@@markopusic8258 look normally I hate when people say this, but you gotta just git gud, I’ve hitlessed Bayle multiple times with fist weapons, you just need to understand your positioning well and dodge backwards when necessary, you can’t always dodge forward or to the side (ex: dodge backward for the bite combo)
Also midir is too easy imo, he took 2 attempts on my first playthrough
How forgot soulofcinde the greates boss in series
Sony won't probably kill from software, they will be just probably telling them what game they must create (f.e. Elden Ring 2 or BLoODbOrNe 2 😆). I think they won't give them a limited time, they're not stupid, we need to just have hope and a good PvP🙏
MESSMER IS THE GOAT
messmer is NOT flawless. he is not PC Radahn levels of bullshit, but a lot of times i feel like i'm fighting the visual clutter more than the moveset. which the moveset is... fine, really, no complaints on that moveset, but goddamn the visuals are insane.
Bayle is much better than Midir
why tf would sony change anything, they would be just the publisher like with countless other games even bloodborne lmao, they wouldnt change anything in the production bc they see how much money fromsofts games make
You missed Giant Lord from DS2 literally unwatchable
No Malenia? Oof.
not adding corrupted monk from sekiro doesnt complete this list
Give me the guardian ape over the corrupted monk
Soul of scinder >>>>>
My brother
I seriously pity anyone playing BB through emulation. Jesus, it looks abysmal
Given a few months, emulated bloodborne will look just as good as playstation bloodbornes’ graphics, without being locked at 30 fps.
hey we dont know each other but i hope ur doing well and I wanna say that GOD still loves u and wants u to be with him all u must do is trust in Jesus (dying for our sins on the cross) and repent of ur sins. GOD loves u more than u can imagine.🎉🎉🎉
Agree with most, but Midir is not a fun boss fight. AND Dancer was revolutionary at the time. Video games had not seen such unique movement and graphics. First time playing dancer when it came out was insane. Also friede kind of pathed the way for modern elden ring bosses, i'd include her too.
Friede's 3rd phase is the problem with her and some ER phases. They all just do way too much sometimes and it's not that fun.
@@anonisnoone6125for friede P3 some of her longer combos can be interrupted, or you can just wait for the ending of like 3-4 combos and backstab her to death
@@jajasking9652nah I think he’s talking about how you can’t really dodge Into most of her combos because ur character is not fast enough
Midir is a fun boss
I dont get the messmer hype in the slightest, not top 3 in the dlc imo
As you say, your opinion. I'm sure you have takes that others will be confused by. It's always been this way and always will be.
He's my favourite, doesn't mean he should be yours. It's good that different people like different things.
he’s literally top 3 in the dlc
Tell me your top 3
@nolantreadway4706 from the dlc it'd be 1) rellana 2) midra 3) bayle
yoo first
Another souls commentary with chunky accent. If i had a dollar for everyone ive watched/found. If youve been a fan of fromsoft content for years you know what im talking about, its a thing.
No hate though, i still watch the hell out of it. Even if mother is pronounced MUDER every time. 😅
