Beautiful timepiece. Gotta love those Vostok SE pieces. My 020SE has been in heavy wear rotation since I've purchased it earlier this year. I've been eyeing one of these lumed dial 710SEs for a while now. Thanks for the video!
As we say here in Russia: "Восток это или для тех, кто вообще ничего не понимает в часах, или для тех, кто его не боится". It means that quality control of the movement manufacturing is so low that you have to be very optimictic or very brave guy to buy it. In spite of the fact here in Russian it is very cheap to fix every built-in fault. Just to understand the situation: the monthly salary in quality control dep. in Vostok is around 250-300 USD. Can you imagine skilled and hard-working man who will do a good work for a such minimum wage? It is typical picture of 'trapped in poverty' for Vostok.
I have a couple of 30-35yo Soviet watches and a new Amphibia - they go pretty well. Simple movements mean less things to go wrong and easier to fix. I would happily buy another Vostok.
Hate to say it, but there's a theme among up and coming manufacturers: they export the good stuff. Japan did it, China is starting to do it, and maybe these guys too.
I have this bezel on my 170 sniper dial, along with the milanese bracelet. It`s a beautiful watch. After wearing it every day for a while, it is 17 seconds slow for the last 9 days as of this morning. I think they need to wear in a little before they run the best.
I would say that Orient can match this Vostok pairing with the Mako/Ray at about $175 and Bambinos as low as $130. Better quality too. I own a Vostok Amphibia and a Ray Raven II. Love them both but the Orient is an outstanding watch (and all in house too).
Must have a battery like Indiglo? I have a Vostok Amphibia 710 ministry case back scuba dude and a new Seiko 5. The Seiko stops during thev night even after I have been wearing it all day. The Vostok never stops like that.
@@zulu6ix290 Seiko 5 is brand new. The Vostok Amphibia gets the same movement. No problem with stopping, ever. More efficient rotor. Half the price of the Seiko.
2DRINKSMINIMUM The lume of the dial is not perfect but given the price it is good and fun. mine is on a bracelet - it is the best part of the watch! The brushing is very nicely finished.
While neat, the diver doesn't do it for me. I could not resist the classica and ordered one after the release of your review on it. Hopefully your affiliate link was set up through that video. Hope my classica soon to serve as my only dressy piece!
Nice quick review! I'm impressed with these Vostok's, I do have a vintage Vostok Komandirskie...love it! My question is...Is Meranom.com a good place to deal with? I'm not really familiar with them. Regards Robert
If that classica was 34-36mm I would have one in every color. I get people are becoming more insecure and what not but dress watchers start looking silly at 39 mm which is the size of vostok's classic 420 amphibia.
Yes it is and it's made with one of Vostok's own "in house" automatic movements a rarity nowadays where most movements are made elsewhere than by the brand itself. An example of this is (Raymond Weil) This watch in my opinion is hands down the most well made diver watch for the price that you can get on the planet. I own Swiss and Russian time pieces. What I will tell you is that my Russian time pieces are my favorites despite being "cheaper" in price than my Swiss ones...much cheaper. These are bulletproof functional watches.
Восто́к => Russian original spelling, in cyrillic alphabet Vostok => English-language transliteration (that is, conversion from an alphabet into another, here from cyrillic into roman), currently pretty much the "international" spelling Wostok => German-language transliteration, AFAIK mostly found on vintage pieces meant for the East German market pre-1990

Your welcome. Its my first SE and its been very enjoyable
Love Vostok I own quite a number of them . Beautiful and very addictive. And what a history they have. Classic!
These Vostoks are an addiction!
The dress watch looks a lot like a 60s Timex Marlin. Nice job!! Going to have to get both of these!! Somebody stop me!!

Interesting to hear a local perspective, thanks for sharing!

Do NOT buy a Vostok! Before you know you’re addicted and keep buying them. I’m on nr 3.

Am impressed.

Vostok needs to make more of that Amphibian SE, amazing watch

neil piper no battery. Somethings wrong with your seiko 5 or your extremely non active.

and this is of the old 710 case ... possibly the very last few you can purchase brand new on earth.
"Scuba dude"
Nice looking watch
The Classica looks like the Glashutte Original sixty
They got the styling of the Classica right...they seem to sell them faster than they can make them..
suggestion: try the classica with a millenese strap, looks so stylish and elegant. great video btw!
Will do!
I bid two fitty.....'cause a sea monster stole mAh phishing boat....
Really nice item. Do you know please where is possible to find it on the net in order to buy? Thank you. Ciao.
this one is good because case made in Russia, except the bezel - made in China
i bought this one as well. A very nice watch!
How's the lume? Also did you get the bracelet or the rubber strap?

They are the factory authorized sale place. Not the cheapest place but They make sure its not a second and sell a lot of modded units as well.
I wished they had them in stock...

Where to buy.....
l wanted the SE that you have, but Meranom was out of stock. So l got the 710659SE with blue dial and Pepsi bezel.
Are SE Vostok watches constantly produced or are they just released once and discontinued?
Did this come on a steel bracelet and if so was it a regular Vostok one that is cheaply made or something of more quality?
If only Vostok would make the Classica 36 or 34mm.
Been trying to find a good safe place to buy a Vostok watch, where would you recommend buying one from ?
Nice watch. Is it automatic?
It is automatic
Yes it is and it's made with one of Vostok's own "in house" automatic movements a rarity nowadays where most movements are made elsewhere than by the brand itself. Moreover, the rotor is bi-directional and you can still wind it manually!
What are the case sizes? PS, I've bought one of your red nickname natos, am I the first in the UK. If so do I win a prize lol 😂
41 for the Amphibian and 39 for the classica :)
Great video, love these watches!
Does the dial lume on the Amphibian function in the same manner as the Timex Indiglo by pressing in the crown?
No it is a constant glow charged by light
If you want to swap the hands how do you keep the second hand (and the others) from sweeping out of the 12 o'clock position?
0:29 I would only need that dial, not available as a Vostok spare part
Bezal pops off very easy.I use mine for work
References?
Wish it was a black dial. I dont think I could sleep with that watches lume.
They makes the same design with black dials too :)
hello to France!!! helas ces montres SE sont en ruptures de stock sur Meranom! dommage!
For the price i don't think any brand can beat vostok especialy when it comes to an original brand that make everything inhouse
Mine broke within 6weeks so the legendary durability may be more patchy than some think...
They are always out of stock it seems .
Vostok vs boctok vs wostok?
Восто́к => Russian original spelling, in cyrillic alphabet
Vostok => English-language transliteration (that is, conversion from an alphabet into another, here from cyrillic into roman), currently pretty much the "international" spelling
Wostok => German-language transliteration, AFAIK mostly found on vintage pieces meant for the East German market pre-1990
Is shipping included in the price?
Yes, there is an expedited option but that you have to pay for
Thanks for your reply!
Bosnia-Erzegovina stonk.
Timex indiglo
I've owned one of those, great 50 dollar watch!
Nothing can beat the lume from those crystals harvested from Chernobyl. LoL.
Vostok is very bad quality, many defective models
This is my 4th and its been perfect
