America invented rock, Britain improved it, and Japan now OWNS it. Band MAID is the best band this 72 yr old dude has ever seen, and I guarantee you I have seen them all for over 50 yrs.

The five of them come from different regions with different backgrounds. Several of them said they were not interested in being in a "girl band" because they wanted to make their career in music and didn't want to be a novelty act. They are very serious about it and treat it like more than a full-time job, it's their career. The guitarist, Kanamii Tōno, started piano at a very young age and considers this her life's work. You're so right that it takes a lot of work, but she's also a very unique composer and writes things that make you wonder how she thought of it. She's got it in her soul and I don't know how you practice for that. You can hone it, but it has to be given to you by your creator. Kanami's made full use of it!

Great reaction guys! Believe it they are not the biggest thing in Japan, Outside Japan though they are a worlwide favorite. Last year they toured the US and I got to see them in Salt lake City of all places. In concert these women are beyond great They are STEELAR. The performance you see here was on their return to Japan from the US tour and I think even they were amazed this many people came to see them. Check out the last song from this concert to see the connection these women have to their fans and the fans to them. It is a really great song and moment to see, "Endless Story!"

With a large international fan base, Band-Maid is quickly becoming the favorite band of many with their driving hard rock fused with metal and many other musical genres which gives them a unique sound. From hard rock to tender, soulful ballads to amazing instrumentals, Band-Mand can do it all extremely well and on point.

Band-Maid has a world wide following and among those Maidiacs (Band-Maid fans) a significant percentage are musicians of various genres. It is among those musicians that comments are made recognizing Band-Maid’s unique musical compositions and each members abilities. Add to all of that the joy felt by watching them perform and interact with each other and the crowd this places Band-Maid in a special category. Their fans love them as much as Band-Maid loves their fans.

Japan is filled with highly skilled and accomplished musicians of all genres, including a long history in Rock/Metal, Jazz/fusion, and Western classical music. Many of them also play in multiple genres. There are a lot of excellent players in excellent bands. Not as many of them can write consistently great songs like this band and perform at this level, but there are quite a number of really great bands there. They're not newcomers to rock music at all. Guys, welcome to a WHOLE NEW WORLD of ASAIN LADIES thar ROCK! I was blind to it until a couple of years ago, when I discovered Babymetal, (which is actually the biggest such act in Japan, capable of selling out Tokyo dome @55k on consecutive nights). Since then, I have grown to love so many female Asian bands of several genres. From Japan; Babymetal, Band-Maid, LOVEBITES, Nemophila, Otoboke Beaver, Hanabie, etc... From Korea: Rolling Quartz (they actually play SRV's "Scuttle Buttin" in live shows), From Indonesia; Voice of Baceprot. I have been fortunate to see Babymetal, Band-Maid, Hanabie, and most recently, Otoboke Beaver, and ALL of them were a BLAST!! My favorite, LOVEBITES, is coming to Atlanta for their first ever US show in September, and you bet I got my ticket!!! I must suggest LOVEBITES' "Holy War" as a good place to start a fresh mind blow! ua-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/v-deo.html

Band Maid prove that music is an international language. Even if rock is not your thing, as you say, listening and watching them play is mesmerising.
Band Maid have been together for ten years but Kanami, the lead guitar player was a singer song writer before the joining Band Maid.
Miku, rhythm guitar, over the years has been taught by Kanami, so her motivation to learn and improve as she was still learning when the band formed, has helped her to improve a tremendous amount.
Misa, the bass player was always good but as you see in this video, her confidence has grown exponentially over the years.
Akane, was always a beast on the drums as has the nick name gorilla!
Saiki the lead vocalist like Misa, was fairly shy at first and even had some throat surgery as she strained her voice too much. Fortunately, she recovered and received professional voice coaching. This resulted in a great improvement to her voice and stage confidence.
Basically, what you hear and see today, is the result of practice and overcoming challenges and not giving up.

The best rocking band on the planet. Any Maids track always ROCKS as they come for your soul. The ladies are in their early 30s now and have been rocking for 10 years+ with plenty of Solo work from Misa and Kanami. The great thing is they always look so happy.
Try Thrill the track that blew them up on the world stage, after a slow start it suddenly went viral outside of Japan (the label was about drop them when this happened in 2015), Freedom, Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, Hate? Are all great tracks and they have an extensive back catalogue (130+ tracks).
Welcome Masters and Princesses to the 5 Band-Maid members:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. The youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions.
MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. I believe she couldn’t play when she formed the band and was tutored by Kanami.
KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more!
AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA!
Their Battle Gear as they call it with slight variations are standard maid outfits for Akane, Miku and Kanami, a head maids outfit for Saiki and a Ninja maid outfit for Misa.

Yes, all BAND-MAID members are virtuosos, except one. Rhythm Guitarist and backing vocalist, Miku couldn't not even play a guitar when they started. If you look at their earliest video she's only holding it like a prop. BAND-MAID was her concept, but she had envisioned two vocalists. So, they they recruited Saiki, she dropped back to the backing position. And, because they really needed a second guitarist and didn't want to have a sixth member, she had Kanami teach her how to play. She had to learn to play and sing at the same time while in a working band as Founder, Co-Frontwoman, Promoter Spokespigeon and Lyricist. That's true dedication.

Kanami, the lead guitarist, was a classically trained pianist. She grew up playing piano. In her music club in high school, she picked up the guitar to look "cool" in front of the other girls. She states she was inspired bu Larry Carlton music. Then Carlos Santana, her idol. She uses PRS guitars since Carlos Santana uses it. She was also inspired by Eddie Van Halen. She uses EVH amps and setup with her Marshal speakers. Misa, the bassist, states she was inspired by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins. So they are both inspired by Western rock. But I have to say they have taken that inspiration to another level. Simply said, they are one of the best true rock and roll bands out there.

Band Maid is my favorite band, but you asked who’s the biggest thing over in Japan. That would be ADO. Personally I want to see your reaction to the pop/rapper Chanmina from Japan. Her song Bijin. If you please? I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Prodigies? Sort of. The drummer, bassist and lead guitarist all started playing music when they were very young... like 4 years old.

Honestly they are good and I enjoy the live vids, but I wouldn't listen to them otherwise. No disrespect

No problem individual taste. I love listening to them but it's not a religion 😂

They are players for sure. In my personal opinion, loud and fast and technical isn't that impressive if it sounds generic. Feels like more of a gimmick than well put together music. They are great, this song is just meh.

Fair enough. This is their amp up the crowd song and is a lot of fun live. Check out their other stuff. They have been together for 10 years and have around 130 songs. They have many well crafted songs combining multiple genres. Depends on what you like. Endless Story from this concert shows a totally different side of them and is worth checking out. Much more melodic. Very emotional. Turn on the captions for the full effect. Don't You Tell Me Live is a fun one as well. I also want to add they do write their own songs and have creative control so they aren't a gimmick band with a team behind them. I do hope you check our more.

@@falconsooner I know who they are. Thats why I said I know they are good musicians. This song just isn't that interesting to me personally.

@@jordank2028 In the very saturated segment of technical metal/hard rock, this is average at best. They aren't average musicians. This song is just not that interesting to me personally. Glad you love it enough to get mad at someone feeling differently though. Enjoy

@@alexbaker5280 LOL. Copy. This is a mid tier song for me from them. The battle in the live elevates it IMO. But I get where you are coming from on this one.
