We got rid of mold and stink by using products that a flood/fire restoration company instructed us on. This is what l would do.
Back pack sprayer with chlorine mix, spray on concrete walls and floor and brush with stiff bristle floor broom. (Of course wear a respirator, we didn’t snd could smell chlorine for a week) Pressure wash again. Then let dry, few days to a week depending on humidity. Then get a paint sprayer and spray with Zinser BIN 123 or equivalent. It’s a liquid vapour barrier that locks in smell and mold etc. Used commonly on flood and fire restorations and even in homes where people smoked and can’t get smell out. Once dry, spray with a white kitchen and bath paint that has a mold and mildewcide in it. Can get cheap because most kitchen and bath paint has it.
Will work awesome! Enjoy
If everyone can have one friend like big swede in their life consider urself lucky !!!!!

Hey Chet: Tell Dougo to just buy a few dozen cases of those little auto freshener pine trees and just hang ‘em around the building. It’ll smell just fine.

KilZ - used it for years in apartments
@Andrew P. Brorsen Hi how are you?
Cant see that well but I think what you see on the concrete is loosely called Efflorescence. It forms on the interior faces of foundation walls, or on concrete slabs. Before using the power washer with the 0° tip spray on a good coat of concrete cleaner.
Power wash with oscillating 0° tip.
Then use epoxy paint. Depending on the type of epoxy you buy you may have to use a etching coat or a primer. Be careful if you cover any horizontal surfaces you should use the non-skid additive for your product. That suff gets as slick as snot on an onion!
Anyway, have a good one. The opening Morning with the classes on is an instant classic.
***AWW FUDGE!
I stopped at 6:30 to answer your question. Ok forget the paint.
Use a good cleaner then seal the concrete with a good quality concrete sealer.
@David Allen Hi how are you?
Use a mason's fluted carbide stone to "scrub" the build up off the walls, acid wash, neutralize, paint with Kilz.
Would that Thoroseal for concrete work ?
@@augustreil, perhaps, I'm not familiar with that product.

@Anthony Morgan Hi 👋
To clean the hog pit area and remove 100% of the smell you need to spray the entire area down with sodium hypochlorite 14-15% (mix it 50/50 with water and add a squirt of dish soap - use a backpack sprayer to apply). It will kill all the bacteria - you can powerwash 45 mins after you spray the area down (it needs to be left on the surface you are cleaning for a minimum 45-60 mins to work - but you must keep the area damp/lightly misted - if it dries then the sodium hypochlorite effectiveness greatly diminishes, but if you keep it slightly damp is best. It's best to do late in the evening after direct sun has gone or on a rainy/cloudy day.
Before you spray the sodium hypochlorite - first spray the entire area you intend to clean down with water to prep it to help the solution penetrate the surface and any organic material.
The sh you seek is found in the pool section… liquid chlorine pool shock!
@Paul Lynch Hi how are you?
Yeah - and it breaks down to chlorine gas. Effective gas in WW1.
Shapeshifter your statement is inaccurate and false. The only way to create chlorine gas is if the Hypochlorite is exposed to Acid - only if this happens will chlorine gas then be released. Without adding Acid to the Hypochlorite it is not possible to create chlorine gas.
@@paullynch277 Let´s hope then that their not going to store any acid in that location if the concrete is soaked in hypochlorite.
Hi Greetings from Denmark.. Saw your video and know That the smell from an old stabel is teribel. Just mix water with cement to a wet mix and use a brush to apply it to the wall , let it dry and then paint... Works fine and boom the smell is gone 👍 we do this when making horse stabel out of old pig/cow buildings in Denmark 👍 try it

@Ron Norgaard Hi how are you?
Hog barn coming along nicely! Have a great weekend!🇺🇸✅
Acid wash the concrete. Use a solution of muriatic acid. It will kill of the bacteria, molds and smell. It's inexpensive thing to do; mix one part muriatic acid to 10 parts water. Brush or spray the acid solution on the concrete, wait eight to 10 minutes, then neutralize the acid by spraying the surface with a mixture of one cup of ammonia in one gallon of water. When it's all dry, you can repaint it with Kilz.
Dougo I watch you guy's show all the time and love your family! Sorry for your family's lose, I was hurting for all of you. I'm a 63 year old man and just noticed you have the most beautiful eye's! Just saying. Give the boy's something to talk about.
@Jeff AtKerson Hi how are you?
As a guy that has done mobile pressure washing for over 22 years. I'd use a zero tip or rotating zero which works better to lift off heavy build up. Then soak it in purple power if you can get it in the states if not I'll ship you some. Let sit for a few hours then blast off again. Acid will work for paint prep but will not remove the smell. Purple power cost a bit but is well worth it. I'd acid wash the white steel to remove most of the rust and make it super bright in there when you put some led lights in that space. But wear a rain suit cuz it burns like be stings when you get it on you
Wood on concrete asking for rot (sweating) especially in winter, treated wood or not. Needs a foam or heavy tar paper strip between wood and concrete.

@Dave Holmquist Hi how are you?
Rotary tip for pressure washer , sodium hypochlorite dairy cleaner on concrete
AKA... Bleach. Use caution it's Explosive and Extremely Poisonous in a contained area.
You can also use a large weed torch to burn off the remaining bacteria.[which creates the odor.] (Prior to using the Bleach; so it doesn't explode.) Just saying.
Spray basement wall sealer on the wall to kill the smell and then cover it with pole barn siding. You can fur it out or put the metal right on coated cement with Tapcon screws. I would fur it out.
@Jerry Faulkner Hi how are you?
A nice set of steps on the other end so you can get to the floor from the walk in door. Going to make a nice chemical shed.

@Robert Inscoe Hi how are you?
Ask a paint store. There is a paint that will hide odors that we used to paint on concrete pads after removing carpet on which cats had urinated. It sealed out the odor. Good luck.
@Robert Vick Hi how are you?
Good video. Wish we could have seen the pressure washing. We are vested in this project now.
Bring in a hot pressure that can inject detergent washer first. Then something like sodium hydroxide flake, wet it down, scrub with a brush, rinse and dry. Others have suggested Sodium hypochlorite, which will also work, but it's more expensive. Caution, wear the Yellow Tyvek and a respirator with ventilation. We used sodium hydroxide to clean the floor around the service lifts to completely remove grease and oil for old concrete.
Once dry, Kilz or Zinzer primer with a bonding agent. As for an epoxy floor paint, unless it fully cures before the building gets placed into service is easily scratched.
Drylock will seal pores and concrete very well. Keeps out water and humidity... smell. Comes in white and gray colors. Very durable.
Exactly. I used Drylock in our basement where ground water was seeping through & it sealed it. That’s probably less expensive than the FlexSeal products, but the FlexSeal coating would be a thicker, rubber based seal.
I agree with the 12.5% sodium hypochlorite and water mix 50/50, & a table spoon of Laundry detergent. Sprayed out of a back pack sprayer. Then rinse with a surface cleaner. For Dougo's paint I'd suggest RUST-OLEUM Elastomeric Roof Coating, you can find it on amazon for $20 a gallon.
Almost bedtime in Hungary but was waiting if there would be a new video. Yes there is.
Lucky me
Do Hungarians say "Hun-gary" or "Hung-ary"?
After our house fire since the basement was salvageable the contractor coated it with Some clear seal stuff from Menards that's a clear epoxy coating. To seal the smoke smell from the fire into the concrete it was like $30 a gallon but worked great
Kilz brand of sealer primer. in insurance home restoration we get fire remodels and that smell is the worst..you will never get used to the smell of a house fire. after demoing out all the burnt material..we sprayed Kilz on everything, everywhere. Kilz is a sealer primer and is a great layer of protection before final paint. you can find at any Lowes or Home depot and is best applicated with a paint sprayer right from the 5 gallon bucket.
That is what I replied above. But use oil base Kilz. We used it for fire restoration.
How are the families doing? Praying for you all
You guys must have hit the lottery buying all that lumber...oh my!
Doug do the pressure wash hard clean you need to do and then spray the the entire concrete area with
PineSol oil, straight up, let it set and dry,
It works, but dont know how intense situation you have going
Good Luck
I've used Kilz primmer and paint on cement floor and that worked really good.
@Jim Kaufenberg Hi how are you?
scribe a 2x8 to match the wall shape
. Ive worked on many farm buildings and they are all fun!
Love you dudes, just dougo at the start n 👍 straight away. Gold🌾
KILZ…it’s what we insurance claims adjusters prescribe to eliminate smoke odor after fires; mildew odor after water losses, pet odors after damaged carpet is removed . It’s a primer and sealant. $9.98 a gallon (or so).
@Jim McChesney Hi how are you?
Pressure wash it again then spray on a muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid solution. It will etch the surface so paint will stick and should help get rid of the smell. Kilz would be the paint to seal it but it's expensive. I suspect the smell might permeate into a latex paint so an oil or epoxy based paint might be better.
Here's some ideas for the smell
1. Wash with Vinegar (including ceiling and upper walls), let it soak in on horizontal surfaces
2. Propane torch the concrete with broad head tip (weed type) ala "shou sugi ban" style
3. Button up the building and run ozone generators. Cheap high output versions available on AliExpress. Ozone can affect plastic and lungs, so watch concentration, but with that size of building it would be hard to reach those levels.
4. Get vapor rated masks for use when you're in the buildings.
For the smell. Zylene based exterior concrete stain, they sell it at Lowes. I used it to seal in cat pee in a building, works really well, and it's not $100/gallon. Treat with hydrogen peroxide first, then acid etch. It's my shop floor and it's better than any epoxy coat I ever encountered.
Rub-R-Wall! Its made for foundation waterproofing, but would do the trick! Sprays on and has flex too in case any cracking occurs!
Put vanilla extract in paint it will lock in the odors and kill the smell of the paint .don't ask me how im not a chemist but in construction we had to mask odors and found out that will do it .
My local county hazardous waste office gives out free paint. It's just a mixture off all the paint people drop off. Has a nice brown-ish tone.
try spaying it down with white vinegar it will help to get rid of smell you can do it a few times vinegar is real cheap and it works just have to power wash at the end again
Vinegar wont work and the acid will react with the calcium in the limestone in the concrete and damage it.
that is why i said power wash it again and it works i have doe it many times i get acid and base 40 years in concrete and demolition
@@jarred267 yes the vinegar does work i get it acid will spall the concrete but not if you powerwash it after applied 40 years concrete and demolition alot of tricks were learned
Get the Turbo nozzle for the pressure washer. Heck with the zero tip that would take forever.
The turbo nozzle is the best for concrete. I use it all the time.
Duoggo "Whoever built this building must of thought it was going to be a pig barn or something."
They make a paint called Kilz and it covers up odors and hides discolored stans. Walmart and any big box stores cards it. Home Depo and Lowes also. Good luck guys.

Chet try Citrol it’s a cleaner concentrate that you mix with water. It will cut down on the smell. I use it on my garbage truck.Shaeffers make it. Really enjoy your videos
If you wipe recoiling hoses with a rag soaked with Armour All, they recoil with less friction and it helps to protect the hose. It also helps to repel dirt from collecting on the hose.
I'm gonna have to try that thanks
I know 2 people who converted barns to sheds one of them used a grinder with a concrete disc on it abs and that took off the smell and the other one used a paint of sorts
Equipment is your forte. Leave carpentry to the professionals. Thank you for sharing.
Dougo was right. Whales have Barnacles on them, and they do resemble the scaling on the bottom of the walls.
And a sealer paint won't be cheap. Dougo might just have to live with the smell. Or pay what it takes to cover it up lol
Dougowillhave an hard time to get any paint stick to the wall... amonia and urea had ages time to infiltrate the concrete.
There are products to get rid of the smell, but they run >40-75$ a gallon.
If you can get it, and have a sherwin williams near by, use Lexon. I believe that’s how it’s spelled. We do plenty of painting outside on concrete, block etc, and it’s good tough stuff. More on pricey side but it’ll last. Or if you want cheap just to seal it, use a shlack based product. Don’t fall into the “concrete and porch” paint bs that the big box stores push.
Acid wash the concrete first then use a industrial 2 pack paint to seal it
Simple Green makes a dog run odor eliminator that is pretty good for concrete. You may need to hit it a few times though for obvious reasons. LOL You could safely use it on the metal ceiling as well and it comes with a hose attachment applicator. It might be a "cheap" way to start.
Treat the Concrete with “Killz” Primer Mold Stain & Mildew Blocker, you need the One for Masonry application, thought Doug would be more concerned with the coming Dust issues.
Greetings Larsons. MS Schppers makes a barn and storage cleaner/disinfectant that you can put on with your foamer attachment. I've had some good results with it. Also make a good Equipment and vehicle foam.
Try Kilz to cover the smell. May take two coats though.
@@jimcooney9019 Kilz is specifically made for moist/wet conditions
@@gangedillyo they’ve got about 20 different products, around 8 specifically for concrete floors and walls. I’ve used different Kilz products on wet and dry walls, depends what you need it for.
Depends what you think is worse but a good spray of diesel will hide the manure smell but then it will stink like diesel
@@blauer2551 I prefer the smell of jet fuel, but diesel is a close second. Anything is better than hog poop I guess.
Kilz is the best Doug for the price. It works so good it will seal the odor of cat piss on wood or cement. Another one is Binz. They are both are a shellac base primer and odor sealer. Menards, Home Depot, Lowes. If you use it buy a bottle of cleaning ammonia and that's how you will clean the brushes or yourself if you get any on you. Shellac bases won't clean up with water.
That shed needs sprayed with Spor-Klens. The price won’t make dougo happy but the results would. Lol.
Kill won't trap smell only stain block. Use BIN by Zinzer. It is a smell trapping primer. Then paint. Double check that it can be used on concrete but that is what I'd do. Works well on sheetrock and wood to trap smell.
With the manure soaking into the concrete for all of those years you are more than likely not going to get much to stick to it. No matter what paint you use it has to be on a clean surface. sandblasting might be the only way to really clean it so that paint will stick.
Enjoyed the show
@Kevin Williams Hi 👋
Several sticks of Dino-mite is the only thing that’s going to get rid of that pig piss smell. I know a fella that pig farmed most of this life retired now eight years and he still smells like a pig farmer. So good luck, I have no suggestions.
Don't know about pig smell but SCOE 10X when you follow directions works for cat pee smell on cement and I've tried just about everything. It's not cheap. Comes in concentrate though and has very little odor.

3-6% Sodium Hypochlorite the whole thing on the inside and another good rinse.
Is the scales calcium deposits? If so check out the ecochem line of cleaning solutions. Nmd80 white scum calcite remover. No zero tip. Get a turbo nozzle rated for the gpm of your pressure washer. To kill the organic material get some liquid pool chlorine and dilute it to a 40% by volume ratio and apply to the concrete. Keep it wet don’t let it dry. Turbo nozzle it clean after the chlorine has dwelled for 10 minutes.
When I was a kid and we raised hogs I was told that was the smell of money.
Mower Jeff, We had a sign in our farrowing barn office that said manure is a lot like money, its no good unless your spread it around. 1 day Gramma was complaining about the smell, because we had a huge pile of manure outside the farrowing barn, that we hadn't hauled away yet, and I won't use the choice words that Grampa said about her complaining, but he said she use to tell people when they would come to visit and say, wow that stinks, and Gramma would say, it smells like money to me, and now all she does is bitch about the smell, lol.
