Yeah an odd winter for the flats here, we don’t usually get more than a marten or two every season. Thanks for watching. God Bless you and your family as well 🙏
Hi Patrick! Wow what a video and great narrating. Love the music too. Definitely learned a lot about trapping, setting baits, presentation of the sets of the 330s and martin sets. Those rabbits eating Bear meat, wow that's totally crazy. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever hear about rabbits eating Bear meat. When you said that, I thought about that movie Monty Python where those Knights thought they could kill that man eating rabbit. If those huge piles of human skeletons wasn't enough of a sign to get out of there, I don't know what is....Lol 😂. Now instead of worrying about wolves eating me, now I'll look at rabbits a different way not so cute and innocent as i thought, like at the front sight of my shotgun. Can't be messing around with a flesh eating rabbit 🐰 especially if your on their menu. They might even gang up on you. Lol 😂 That's a scary thought! Anyway great video. Thank you for taking the time to bring us your adventures. Truly these videos are amazing. It brings something only a few of us get to enjoy. A lot of hard work on the trap line brings a lot of joy and excitement along the way and lessons learned with great satisfaction you've done your job and many blessings at the end with another adventure waiting for a trip of a lifetime. So thankful you taking the time to do this for us. Really appreciate it. Thank you Patrick. Have a great day and looking forward in seeing you on your next Big Adventures!😊
Keep in mind that everything needs fat in their diet. So the rabbits eating on bear fat / bear meat makes sense from the perspective of a cold-climate critter w/a LOT of their natural browse under deep snow cover, that bear meat is a super quick, super easy, calories-galore meal! We see with white-tailed deer when things get really cold here in the ag counties of WI -- deer will eat on other deer carcasses if they're left in a field or if a deer gets hit on the road, stumbles into a field, and dies there. If it's really, really cold, and we have a TON of snow, they'll resort to that. It's all about survival.
Hello welcome to the channel. Oh yeah a great day out there. Thanks! Enough sadness and anger out there. I’m blessed so gotta be happy. Thanks for watching
I love your videos! Keep it up! You might want to try coffee filters or crumpled up parchment paper over your traps before you cover with snow. I will help prevent them from freezing in. Crumple up either of them really well so they are soft and not crunchy. Good luck!

@@KenCaudle caught one about a hundred yards down the trail from the last lure set. She was a smart old wolf that avoided everything. Caught her in a snare when she tried to go around a 330 wolverine set.. Got one last check for wolves. But most of the wolves avoided the lure, marten seemed to like it though. As soon as bear baiting opens I’ll be using some for upwind of the bait piles. Man that’s horrible! There are not a lot of judges that can stand against the pressure from the anti trappers
You should go to the trapping course in Canada maybe learn how to catch shit. You just keep doing the same old shit . trapper gord will get you so you aren't just screwing the pooch
Yep ! There is definitely something weird with your rabbits.Never no, maybe a new breed?? Evolution!! 😂 You are definitely right in saying that rabbits attract game. I’ve been trapping rabbits for some 50 yrs now. Back then 50 cents a rabbit . Today we sell for 15$ and some guys for 25$. Why the high price? At Xmas they usually want a couple for meat pies and during the winter for rabbit stew at the camp. But the proof that a number of animals travel in a well used or freshly cut rabbit trail , in a 22 g 4 in diameter snare I have caught of course rabbits, partridges, squirrels,a mink, martens,a live skunk,a dead porcupine and an owl. I have also caught a fox . Taught you had caught me lying eh ??😂 A fox in a fox snare with a broken rabbit snare wrapped around his front paw.So your right in saying that rabbits attract game. Now a question for you if you have time to answer. Why the owl???😅 I think I have the answer. Now all these catches were made in the fall before the snow .They have a tendency to run everywhere in the snow. Maybe to drive the predators nuts!😅But never caught the slick weasel. Really enjoy your videos and good luck going foreword.
Yeah maybe the snowshoe hare is a bit different. I had told people for a number of years that rabbits were eating each other but all I got were some funny looks. Then in 2020 my wife found a story online where they talked about rabbits/hares doing just that. Wow that’s an amazing price for a rabbit. We’re about at the end of a downcycle on our rabbits. Lord willing we can start snaring them this next winter. That is a few different species in a rabbit snare. My first fox I caught when I was 7-8 in a rabbit snare. I’ve caught a few owls over the years but never in a snare. Thanks for watching and for commenting ,we really appreciate the stories yall tell on here. Take care
The reason the owl got caught is because I had a partly eaten rabbit in a snare. I threw it away and reset. He probably came back for the rest of the rabbit and got caught trying to find it.!!!Which proves to never return to the seen of the crime!!😂
How is your lynx pop this season. It’s the first year I didn’t get one. I only saw tracks a few times, but saw a nice one with a kitten last week which is a good sign 😁
How do you like those hudson bay axes? I'm seriously considering getting one. I went through 2 collins axes this trapping season, and I didn't even trap that hard...
Oh man they are great. Very light so easy to carry. Strong enough to drive 12” spikes. I carry one whenever I’m out in the woods. Just don’t twist and pry to hard with the axe head. A flaw or design that can get you in trouble is where the handle and axehead come together. There’s not a whole lot of wood passing through the eye of the axehead. Unless you’re packing the axe in a backpack I would go with a longer handle. Thanks for watching and God Bless
