I bought a 1960 Chevrolet Viking 60 no rust or rot at all only damage is both front fenders are dented by the bumper being pushed in to them love your truck looking forward to seeing more on it
Your truck sounds awesome! If you do any content with it, please let me know. I’d love to check it out. Thanks for watching my truck videos. Greatly appreciated. I hope to do some more content very soon. 🍻
What a great find and buy! I can remember when a neighbour/friend , ( waaay back in the day,) who owned a GMC dealership drove home with a brand new 1960 pickup, man what a radical style change from the '50's era. Of course, he had 'thee coolest' models of all those trucks back and forth from his 'work' to home each day. I was too young to be licensed to drive then,. but that didn't stop me from seeing all the new models of GMC trucks, Pontiac and Buick cars too. Those were good times! You are a lucky guy to find this one.
Love hearing stories like this! So cool!! I would love to travel back in time to see these trucks in their glory. So many various models. Definitely good times. You’re lucky to have that experience. Thanks for tuning into the channel. Greatly appreciated. 🍻
@@bigbluebanditoSK You are welcome, and thank YOU for providing the spark to ignite these memories. You know, back in those years ( when we were teenagers ) it WAS exciting to be 'on the look out' as each year's new models around September/October to see the new cars and truck, styles and designs coming into the Dealerships. Back then, we could tell at a glance, what car or truck was, coming down the road. Each year the manufacturers would make dramatic styling changes, " Hey guys, look at that '57 Chevrolet, it sure is better than last year's, or WOW, look at that 1960 Chrysler Imperial, isn't that somethin' !" Good stuff!
I have a 61 Chevy C-50 Viking Grain truck. It was a 6 cylinder engine and now a chevy 350 with factory trans and all the way back . A real fun truck to drive around town .
You're right the fenders on the medium duty's are the same for 60-62,the same years they ran the torsion bar front end. I also agree the 60-6 GMC/Chevrolets are the best looking and the most solid built, and the last body style with good doors that still hold on to their fit,a great truck.
At one time I had a 1965 Chevy C60 with the straight six 292. It was a great truck. Now I have a restored 1960 Chevy C10 Apache with the straight six 235, my favorite engine of all time. The engine in your truck may not be original. Have you looked up the numbers? The valve cover oil cap is in the wrong place for a 1960 235, at least with every 235 I've seen. Wait, that's a GMC Canadian. You probably have either a 230 or 250. Great engines either way!!
I used to run both a 1961 and 1962 Chevrolet C60 grain truck on the farm when I was younger. The 61 had a 327 V8 swapped in but the 62 was still the factory 6.
Thanks for sharing your story! That must have been so much fun! Neat that you got to drive a V8 version and a straight 6 version. Thanks for tuning into the channel. 🍻
I have the exact same truck! (Well cab) I’m just about to start building a daily driver. I’m looking for one more cab to build a crew cab. Then it’s going onto an 05 C5500 Kodiak 4x4. Mine is patina’d exactly the same too. I’m a bit nervous about the chop n paste to get the 2nd cab together. There’s at least one UA-cam of a guy doing it. It’s the Kermit for anyone wanting to see it
Oh wow! That sounds like you have an awesome project on the go there! Good luck with everything. I’ll go check out that channel. Thanks for sharing. I like the crew cab idea! I also thought it would be neat to put a carryall back end on the hoist of one of these grain trucks, having the body lines line up somehow.
My Dad hjad this model when he was a farm agent for Supertest !!! I believe it was a 7 ton chassis with a 1000 gallon tank and bins. Tanks were split into 2 200 gallon and 2 300 gallon tanks. Don't know which motor it had but iot was a 5 speed split diff. Beaut truck mate ~!! look after her !!! Alex
Is that a 235 6 cyl under the hood? I believe the 250/292 6 banger engines weren't introduced until 1962. It also looks like it only has single cell master brake cylinder.
I believe you are correct. 235 6 cylinder. The reservoir has one side for hydraulic clutch and other side for brakes. I do need to inspect the slave cylinder for the clutch. It may need to be replaced as well.
I must admit I was a little startled to see "GMC 950" on the front fenders, because in the U. S. the comparable model was labeled "GMC 6000"; it also doesn't have the "V6" engine callout that the American models did (of course seeing the in-line six under the hood confirms the Canadian models had a different standard engine)
Great comments. I enjoy learning about the differences between the US and Canadian built models. I’m a fan of those US V6’s. Would love one of those trucks. 🍻
Love the jet age styled hood vents on those trucks😉👍
I totally agree. Best gm truck hood ever. 60-61 🍻
I like the look of the twin nostril hoods on the '60 and '61 trucks.
Me too! Those hoods are getting harder to find.
Awesome morning brother trying to catch up lol 😂 awesome Ole iron lol
Thanks very much! Appreciate you tuning into the channel!

Appreciate the comment on fender width. I wasn’t totally sure but glad you could add to the information. 👍

😍Cool GMC!!!!👍
Thank you very much!!
Those mirrors are 10x’s better than what they put on trucks today.
Totally agree. 🙌🍻

I like that truck.🚚
Thanks!
Very nice
Thanks!
Surprised to see the inline 6. I thought GMC had a V6.
I believe the US trucks had the V6
You are right,it's the GMCs built for the Canadian Market.
It also shows to have a 235/261 Chevrolet stove bolt 6.
probably a 261

It needs a Duramax diesel or a 502 under the hood
Put a flatbed with gooseneck hitch on it, would make a good rig to pull a 5th wheel travel trailer
That’s a great idea!!
GMC 950 for Canada, GMC 5000 for U. S.
You’re absolutely correct. Love those 5000 badges on the US trucks.
Single cell brakes were standard up to 64-65. 64 Biscayne and 65 mustang was single bowl master cylinders
duuuuude 🤯😎🤯😎👍
Thanks for supporting the channel @freddie33! 🎉
Didnt it have an option for a 4-53
I did find that engine option in the 1960 info I have here but that may have been a US truck only engine option. I’m not entirely sure.
👍👍👍🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
👍🍻
I'm gonna sell my 87 pickup truck, Chevy one ton pick. Looking to sell my pickup truck
🍻
Total frame off resto.
Would be a good candidate for that.
