Building a Flat Deck from Repurposed Grain Box Wood
Cool
@@jasonzajac1819 thanks for checking out the video.
New wiring for the domelight and fuel tank fuel sending unit?
@@Dadcam_Can existing wiring but cleaning things up. Going through everything. Found exposed wires, broken harnesses and more. It all started with the need to sort out taillight wiring. Now it’s a full blown review and fix. 😂
Did I just see this rig up for sale?
@@shortcutgarage listed today to see if there’s someone out there that would like to carry the torch for this awesome machine. I’m not expecting much for inquiries as this is one that 99.9% of the car enthusiast population likely wouldn’t have on their list.
@@bigbluebanditoSK I hope another UA-camr buys it. It’s a great build!!
@@shortcutgaragethanks!
Yo! It’s me from the co-op! I just subscribed!! Also messaged you on instagram!
I'm thinking your wheel skirts would stand out more with a light blue similar to the cab color. Of course that may change once the frame and rims are painted gloss black. At least you don't have to worry about bottoming out the helper springs hauling that bike around town.
I definitely do like your idea of a light blue to match the cab. 🙌. That little Suzuki actually turns over. Would love to get it operational and cruise that thing around.
How do you fix that when its rusted through by the dang windshield?
ua-cam.com/video/LXqfD1DIYV8/v-deo.htmlsi=13r31difqtsxPAPt
Hoping I can do what shortcut garage did in this video. 🤞
@bigbluebanditoSK awesome thanks for sharing that. I found an old 1960 GMC c60 for like $1000 runs and drives, going to go see how bad the rust is but I almost can't pass it up just on the price alone. Love these old trucks.
@@Helmholtzwatson1984 good luck with that truck. Hope you acquire it and get to enjoy some time working on it.
Was that old motor a 235 stove bolt? What's going in as a replacement?
It was a 239 CID 115 HP 1bbl 6 Cylinder. I may attempt to use an engine in one of the grain trucks here, if I can get them running. Either 350 v8 or 235 inline 6. If either of those don’t go I have thought of a 4.8l with auto transmission.
The 235 stovebolt (like in my 54 BelAir) was Chevy's OHV six but Aron's is the Pontiac flathead six.
@@cliffyelland2096 yeah I realize now he pulled a flat head six out of the old Pontiac. The stove bolt models are not a flat head design.
Patience is definitely a virtue when installing window tint.
You’re so right. It’s a fun little project but patience is definitely key. 🍻
This car sure has the look!
Thanks. I’m really trying to give it a bit of a unique look without going too far away from the original styling.
Bro glad to see the project is going well. Clean machine 👍
Thanks very much! 🎉
Ain't that fun!!!!
Something about wire wheeling is neat.
Technical question for you. Have you had success decoding the VIN's on your 1960's vintage trucks? I recently looked at a mid 60's GMC 960 but I could not find an online resource aiding with deciphering the VIN. All the lookup charts I found seem to be limited to 910 to 930 models only.
I have. I can’t remember where I found some info but I’ll do another comment with an example of a vin decode.
0C95303604532D. 1st numeric is year ‘C’ I think is gmc 95303 is model ‘6’ means 6 cylinder. Will be ‘8’ on V8’s 04532 is sequence in production Last alpha ‘D’ is weight class. I think D is 16,500 lbs gvw
9 is gmc and 5303 is model. C might be cab n chassis.
Came, with a 235/261 engine, nice shape, love the torsion bar independent front end that was available from 60-2.
Thanks for checking it out! 🍺
Did anyone notice the GIANT Swan in his pool?
😂
What is your cruising speed?
Can cruise at 70 mph no problem but 60 mph seems to be the sweet spot.
What rear end does it have? I’m building a 68 C50 Cruise speed is 45 I have a 366 5 speed single speed rear end Old fire department water truck with 5600 miles. I’m building it into a pickup truck. Stretching the bed to about 12ft long (using two beds to make one)
It has the original 5.83/8.11 two speed but I’m running it in the 5.83 with a fabricated piece that keeps it in gear. Your truck project sounds awesome. Would love to see more pictures as it comes together.
That isn't really that bad. When I'm towing my 23 foot travel trailer I'm getting 10 mpg in my O7 tundra.
Oh wow! That’s interesting to know. Very good point. This truck is about 6,000 lbs. so I guess I’m probably doing not too bad at 11.7 mpg at 60 mph. 🍻
@@bigbluebanditoSK I'd say so.
I just took a 600k cruise with the old truck I built with my son. I loved it. It only got 10mpg but that doesn't matter. We build ghem to drive them!
Cheers to that! 🍻. It’s the smiles per gallon that are the only thing us car and truck guys need to track.
That's great. Probably still way more efficient an EV. GREAT CHANNEL.
Thanks for tuning into the channel. I’m trying to keep some interesting old truck and car content flowing.
@@bigbluebanditoSK I love those old trucks. Reminds me of my late uncle's farm in Manitoba.
Welcome to Alberta. Yeah that Unimog Overland Vehicle looks pretty impressive. You could also make a unique touring machine if you mounted a camper body on the back of Big Blue Bandito. That would look just as cool 😎.
Thanks! I always enjoy travels to AB. I like your idea. I need to find a salvage camper unit that has a good look to mount to the back of one of the rigs. Would be a neat, more economical way to create a similar vehicle.
Just subscribed & checking out your channel 🍺
Thanks for tuning into the channel. Hope to get some content out soon again.🍺. Like what you’re doing on your channel! Also gave your’s a ‘subscribe’.
hey Bro !!!! thanks for inspiration to regularly start up our vintage WHIPS !!!! have a great day
You bet! Have a great day too! 🍔 🍻
@@bigbluebanditoSK burgers and pops 🤪
I love the bucket seat!
It’s the highly sought after removable and transferable no back bucket. 😂
Any vehicle with a choke you gotta respect 👌
Agreed. 🙌🍻
Would have been good to know and see, the engine size, type of transmission, rear axle, two speed? or not, etc. A lot more views on the truck instead of the destination and the driver, I think.
Already covered that. ua-cam.com/video/OlG-uSqLtlA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared My channel is here to my put my random video ideas into a finished product to share. It is difficult for me to get outside driving clips when traveling solo. I’m hoping to expand into more outside driving videos.
That Ls looks clean! Can you pass the shop information onto me. I assume they’re local to Saskatchewan?
Work was done by Phobia Auto. My understanding is they are no longer in business. They did several ls swap projects. Neat to see the projects that left that shop. High quality builds!
@@bigbluebanditoSK to bad. A shop doing that quality of work should stick around. Looks very well done, probably the cleanest Ls I have seen, period.
It's great to get out and drive it!
Perfect day for it. Heater on full, full tank of gas and all the fun you need with the tap of the gas pedal. 😂
Is that an automatic transmission in that beast?
You bet! 4L60E. Makes driving it way easier. Allows me to focus on just an arm workout with the steering. 😂
@@bigbluebanditoSK and you got overdrive too. Sweet. 😁
Nice to see a survivor, thanks for sharing. Happy it didn't have a chevy engine. Some Lemans came with chevy 350.
You’re welcome. Glad you found the channel and enjoyed the tour! A fun car to drive.
I have the exact same truck! (Well cab) I’m just about to start building a daily driver. I’m looking for one more cab to build a crew cab. Then it’s going onto an 05 C5500 Kodiak 4x4. Mine is patina’d exactly the same too. I’m a bit nervous about the chop n paste to get the 2nd cab together. There’s at least one UA-cam of a guy doing it. It’s the Kermit for anyone wanting to see it
Oh wow! That sounds like you have an awesome project on the go there! Good luck with everything. I’ll go check out that channel. Thanks for sharing. I like the crew cab idea! I also thought it would be neat to put a carryall back end on the hoist of one of these grain trucks, having the body lines line up somehow.
Man what a sweet ride
Thanks very much! 🍻
Old Pontiac deep dish rims I'm in!
Thanks! I do have the original steel wheels along with the luxury lemans pmd hubcaps but I’m liking this look on the car for now.
Man, you have a bit of a problem there! It's a good problem though! Cool collection.
Thanks! I think the lot is full now. Now to get them all back in the road.
Good episode brother
Thanks bud! 🍻
You could pick up a lot shifting yourself, it is shifting way too early. Those tall rear tires aren't helping either with a 2.78 gear but you did have 3 killer lights off the tree.
Great Information! I’ll definitely try these tips next season. I rewatched. I see what you mean. That 2nd to 3rd did seem really early. Thanks! Appreciate you tuning into the channel. 🍻
@@bigbluebanditoSK a stock 4 bbl intake and a nice q-jet will pick it up a bunch.
So let me see if I have this right....this is a 53 foot long pontiac? Doesn't anybody know how to read and write the English language anymore?
Thank you. Everyone can use a helping hand. Appreciate you pointing this out. Edits made throughout my entire channel. 🍻
Like what you are doing and will follow along with the restoration of your car. I have plans of restoration for my 53 as well.
Thanks very much! Looking forward to the day I can sit in the driver’s seat and wheel down the road. Appreciate you tuning into the channel. Good luck with restoring your 53 too. 🍻
Woooo woooo! I’ve got a 72 luxury lemans as well!
I’m sure we share the same thought that these cars are absolutely amazing! A blast to drive and put the pedal down. ‘Interceptor mode’. 😂🍻
Hahaha for sure!
The way an exhaust note should be, nothing more :)
If you ever watched the Steve Magnente UA-cam channel he frequently comments about inner trunk lids and how they typically remain the most pristine part of any old car. It's the most accurate way to determine the original paint color.
I haven’t watched that channel but appreciate the comments on this topic. It makes total sense but honestly something I didn’t even think about previously. This is now in the ole memory bank. 🍻🙌
Dude keep up the good work :)🙂
Thanks, will do!
8:50 and 9:06 for the cool find!
If only old cars could talk the amazing stories they could tell. You definitely found a prized catch with this vehicle. Good luck with the restoration.
Thank you! Half the battle seems to be the deep clean. I don’t mind that part but will be a lot more fun once it gets to rebuild of the mechanical components. Thanks for tuning in!
That Chevy looks very clean! I don’t see the far-gone part..? 🤷🏻♂️
Interior above windshield was really bad. But I’m glad I changed my mind and brought it home too.
At one time I had a 1965 Chevy C60 with the straight six 292. It was a great truck. Now I have a restored 1960 Chevy C10 Apache with the straight six 235, my favorite engine of all time. The engine in your truck may not be original. Have you looked up the numbers? The valve cover oil cap is in the wrong place for a 1960 235, at least with every 235 I've seen. Wait, that's a GMC Canadian. You probably have either a 230 or 250. Great engines either way!!
Nice old trucks
Thanks 👍
My favorite season ❤❤❤
Mine too! Outdoor work is so enjoyable when surrounded by the beautiful colours.
Playa de cobre: copper beach; playa de madera: wood beach
These are all great! Thanks for recommending. I really like “Playa de cobre”. 🙌🍺. That shall be the name of this poolside oasis. Thanks!
At 7:54, what a sight! Congratulations and well done
Thanks! It’s a thing of beauty. Having two roll in at the same time. That tow company had the right equipment for the job. Was fun to watch them offload the trucks. 🙌🍺
Makes a difference for rust prevention
Thanks. I totally agree. I’ll be doing a video soon on painting the hoist for preservation.
Cool trucks. Especially the GMC’s. I have a 61 Chevrolet C70 Spartan, 72 GMC 5500 and 69 GMC V6 4x4. Glad to see another collector. Love the old V6 motors.
That’s awesome. A very nice list there, with your collection. That spartan sounds awesome!
awesome car. great condition for the year. how about the inside ? would be nice to see... I have a 70 completely restore..
Sounds like I need to do a walk around on the LeMans! 🍺🙌
Thanks! Inside is a nice original survivor too.
