  • We rented a Rug Doctor Pro Carpet Cleaner from Home Depot. It was $40.99USD for 24 hours (with tax and damage insurance) and we were very happy with the results.
    Here is a quick video showing how to set it up and use it!

      You didn't use all the clean water is what you're saying? Hmm I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense that it would be difficult. How did you manage to do it? Or did you leave it?

    I work in the Tool Rental Department & this was very well described however one thing that I always tell me customers is to make sure to go over that area you're pressing the red button. Go right back on top but don't press the red button but go back slowly so u can get that grime & damp water up so ya carpet won't be to damp & then move on.

      Yes definitely, sorry if I wasn't so clear here. You definitely do want to go over it without putting more water down! Thanks for the correction Will.

    does home depot provide the soap or is that extra? How long does it take for the rug to dry? I'm renting one tomoro from HDepot and have two rooms to clean. rented for 4 hrs. Hope that is enough. tks for helpful video.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  6 місяців тому

      Home Depot sells the soap, so it is extra. Rug Doctor highly recommends that you use their soap. And I guess if things go south for whatever reason and you weren't using their soap they may not be so anxious to help out.
      Our rug wasn't particularly expensive and didn't mean the world to us, so we used stuff we already had on hand.
      We really soaked our rug so it took a few days to dry out. We happened to have a room that we could just unroll it in and leave it to dry for a good while.
      As for the 4 hours I guess that depends on the size of the rugs and how far away you are from HD. We are pretty far so we wind up just renting for the day.

    You mentioned the empty rug cleaner with no water is like a vacuum. I don’t own a vacuum beyond a dust buster- so could I use the rug cleaner with no water to vacuum the rug as you instructed before cleaning it? The rug in question is filled with cat hair!

    • @samechick
      @samechick  4 місяці тому

      It's like a vacuum in that it sucks stuff up, but I don't think it is strong enough to actually clean out cat hair unfortunately. [Edit: By stuff I mean the water and the soap]
      Maybe if you have a good old fashioned straw broom you can sweep the cat hair out of the rug first.
      Pet hair gets so stuck in rugs, it can be really frustrating.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  3 роки тому +3

      If your carpet isn't wall to wall type (permanently installed) just get a plastic sheet like we did and slide it under.
      If it is wall to wall I think if you were to hire someone to clean your carpet they would most likely use a machine similar to the rentals at home depot too.
      You control how much water sprays out as you're walking with it, so you can use less if you are concerned.
      Maybe the rental person at home depot or wherever you choose to rent from will have some tips for you too.

    How long did the rug take to dry? I know different materials will have different dry times but just curious for your rug.

    • @samechick
      @samechick  2 роки тому

      I'd say two days. It was really dirty so we soaked it a bunch.

    Is this good for cleaning alot of rooms and heavy use? I'm trying to use it as a carpet cleaning business

      Hey there! Are you thinking of buying this or just renting? Honestly I'd just go and rent all of the different cleaners they have and see for yourself if you think if any is a viable option for a business. There just may be a heavy duty commercial cleaner that would be better.
      Good luck with whichever you choose!

    Approximately how heavy is the machine since I live in a apt complex and we don't have a elevator

      My husband says it's a little heavy. He says you can definitely carry it up steps but it's got some weight to it.

      To fully dry takes a few days. It did for us anyway.

      That's terrible that that happened. Did you rent the machine from Home Depot? If they weren't helpful, maybe a call to rugdoctor might get you some answers.

    Hi after you cleaned it was the rug fairly dry or will.it damage my wood flooring. Did you hang it to dry somewhere or was that not needed

    • @samechick
      @samechick  3 роки тому +1

      It was definitely damp. We didn't hang it because the weather here isn't great we just kind of draped it over a bed frame (took the mattress off) and left it for a couple of days.
      If we could have hung it outside that probably would have sped up the process for us.

    so how did you dry the wet carpet with?

    • @samechick
      @samechick  6 місяців тому

      We put it in a spare bedroom rolled out and it dried within a day and a half if I remember correctly. We really soaked it though.

    Can i use this for the carpet of my car

    • @samechick
      @samechick  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Dutch. Honestly I'd recommend the Karcher carpet cleaner rental from Home Depot for your car.
      My Karcher video: ua-cam.com/video/wWXTAZImOzA/v-deo.html
      But if you've already rented this for your house and now want to use it for your car, here's my video for hooking up the upholstery attachment for the Rug Doctor Pro: ua-cam.com/video/DFLkODWAiq0/v-deo.html
      Both will do the job, but the Karcher was easier to use and less messy.
