Former ballroom dancer here! The dresses are indeed expensive, all the glitter that you see are usually thousands of hand glued Swarovski flat back rhinestones. But they are definitely fun to wear! 😊

Current ballroom dancer here! The prices that were being advertised on Etsy are actually super cheap for a custom made original design! That first white dress on the tiktok video looks like it’s made by ARTI which is a super popular designer & my guess is their dress start at $2000 for a basic dress without the rhinestones, but their prices definitely climb depending on the style & material you want

As someone who does Ballroom dancing when she showed the dresses, I laughed my ass off. Those dresses can cost an arm and a leg ESPECIALLY if it's custom. Personally, I like to get second-hand dresses and I like to make a lot of them bc dropping 1,000+ is a no for me lol
Where do you get second hand ones from? I don’t imagine it’s easy to come across on regular places people sell second hand clothes.
@@rachelcookie321 Usually I get them from people at my studio, or I get them online from Facebook, eBay, and Poshmark. Otherwise, they are very difficult to find. I only once found a pair of professional pair of ballroom shoes at a thrift store since then I haven't seen anything.

the ballroom dresses you found on etsy are knockoffs from asia, the pro ones you showed are generally 6k+ because the bling is all from hand glued swarovski crystals---i've seen dresses go for 30-40k easily at competitions also
Swarovski crystal are just expensive because you're paying for the name, it's just lead glass
@@bridgettepierce7144 Not necessarily, my niece bought a dress with the real deal crystals and that dress was so superior to any of the "knock off" brands that it was worth the extra money. It also had a slight tinkling sound when she danced in it; she became and looked exactly like the quintessential Disney Cinderella character. She said that it was the best and most stunning outfit that she has ever worn and she is a very pretty woman. None of the other "crystal" covered dresses measured up in any way.
When I start my own clothing line, I’m going to write “great for an evening at Cheesecake Factory” in the description to make sure hope buys it 😂

I'm blown away by the fiber optic dress in the clip! Everything about it is so beautiful, definite Disney princess vibes! It reminds me of the Fairy Godmother transforming Cinderella's outfit into her ballgown, complete with magical sparkling lights. Absolutely stunning!

The ballroom dresses are usually used on Latin dances as well, they are gorgeous but custom made and verrryyy expensive I know about them because I'm a dancer so on dance competitions I see lots of them

Hi Hope! Competitive ballroom dancer here! So fun to see two of my worlds collide here. Arti dresses are very expensive bc they’re decked out in rhinestones (the reason it’s shiny)
As soon as you said fiber-optics fabric I knew you were going to be in for a shock with the price. Ball gown type dresses often take around 8-10 yrds of fabric and the ebay listing shown is for approximately a yard. So you're looking at a minimum of ~$1500 in just that fabric for a fiber-optic ballgown.
I was honestly surprised when she took out what looks to be 1 yard of fabric because of this. In my experience, a ballgown skirt requires at least 4 metres, maybe 3 if you're willing to sacrifice on fullness but both of those are already toeing the line imo XD

Having a lot of shiny rhinestones on a Ballroom dress is pretty normal. It's designed so that when you walk on the stage, all eyes are on you. The thing is, when you get to a high enough level to be wearing shiny, glittery rhinestones, almost everyone wears them too.

Most high leven ballroom dancers place those stones (glitter) by themselves. There are actually quite some rules for when you can and when you can't wear ballroom dresses with those stones.
