Just love the way you are so organized
Thank you so much 😊 it keeps sanity
@@TheLoreofBushcraft I love going into Boundary Waters for week long trips. I love the Hammack though. I do have the waxed cloth tarp. O had been using my linseed and iron oxide treated one. I didn't want it to get anymore wear on it. 30 some years old now. But it did sit while life got busy, So now I'm back starting up again. You remind me of things I forgot. Great teaching aids.
Great vintage-style but heavy to carry. Anyway, I love it!
Well, if you're a fit bloke such as myself it's not such an issue. The issue I have had was with my Ruck.
It was carrying like a 12-year-old child hanging on my back. So, I recently replaced it with a pack that has lumbar support, and it seems to be quite an improvement because it lifts it up the pack.
In the summer I mostly go with a lighter pack though, due to the fact that I don't have to carry so much equipment.
There's just something so romantic about that traditional kit. Thanks mate
Great 👍 video with a delicious 😋 meal, Carn.
thanks mate. I really appreciate that.
Very nice equipment and very well organized.
Much appreciated!
I love your outfit!!! This is soooooo beautiful!!!!!! Keep it coming!!!!
Text book bushcraft setup! Great job.
Thanks so much Craig! It's like a living history. Much appreciated!
Your video has inspired me to finally break out an 10x10 that a dearly departed friend left me on our last camping trip. It is time to set up camp, just like your own, and spend some quality time in nature again. He would agree. Very well done Sir!
Barry, thank you so much for your kind words! I have a love and passion for the outdoors and if I can inspire people in any way to go out and enjoy the woods, I've done my job. Cheers mate
That was very cool! Nice camp 🤠
Thanks so much! Truly my favourite camp
I quick search on youtube for 'oilskin tarp' popped up this video as one of the results. (I'm in the process of making myself an oilskin tarp). I've watched a lot of your vids in the past and enjoy them a lot. So I thought I'd just flip you a quick 'thanks' from New Zealand.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate your feedback. Life is best shared.
Great adventure my broo
Nicely done! Thank you, looking forward to more of your posts.
Thanks Mathon! Glad you enjoyed it. Very happy to have you aboard. Cheers
Very cool camp set up you have going there. The meal looked delicious. I'll watch part two tomorrow......Take care, Bluefin.
Much appreciated! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I'm so happy to hear that you watch more of my videos. Cheers
Great camp setup my friend! Cheers
Much appreciated
Nice video.
Awesome, glad I found your channel ! Cheers
Welcome...
Great video, loved your small setup, nothing wasted. Going to have to get myself an oil cloth tarp.
Thank you Ceri, yeah cool little spot I had. Oilcloths are great they're just very heavy. That one weighed 3 kilos, I have another that's 2.1. No problem if you park close to your camp, but I hike in about 8 km on average. It is a great traditional piece of kit that will last a lifetime.
@@TheLoreofBushcraft hiking an public transport are all I have but 3kg isnt that much
Awesome outing, buddy this is just what I need!!😁✌️💚
Thanks mate! 💪
Textbook bushcraft. I can watch this all day. Great video and new sub here.
Wow, I'm honoured Darby! Welcome aboard
Great setup! And an enjoyable watch! Looking forward to watching the next part.
Where abouts in the world are you?
Much appreciated! Stateside now (USA) but thinking about going back to the UK. Cheers
Carn, I'm curious to know and want to ask you something. Did you take up bushcrafting courses here in the states or somewhere abroad?
My self, I learned most -ly on my own trial and error, reading books, watching videos and a whole lot of practicing, how about you?
Love your videos, your friend Ernie.
Hi there, I’ve been doing this since I was a lad. I started off running away from home and going out into the woods with just my school bag and some tins of beans and tuna fish. As a child, you didn’t have equipment and you got cold at night so you learned how to build shelters and improvise and stay warm. I’ve had formal training and like you, trial and error, books, videos, groups and friends with the same interest. The woods have always been an escape for me since I was abused as a child and it has always been a sanctuary for me. Nature has such healing powers. and the empowerment of self-reliance is priceless.
Amazing!
Where were you?
Thanks Man!
More please. Any bears to worry about there? Do you have a water filter?
Well I've only seen 8 bears in 5 years going there. They're only black bears so, no worries. They are very skittish. Water filter-I drink from nature's tap from only trusted sources and conditions, never had an issue, but I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. I got a surprise in my new videos coming up
That is a formidable looking pack. How much is it weighting?
Hello, that indeed it is. It weighs 3 kilos plus the weight of the pack basket I place inside to give it rigidity.
The cost is quite hefty as well, but it is my favourite rucksack.
You have to go with minimal equipment (that's the point of butchcraft), although that hasn't been the case for many of my expeditions. 💪
Beautiful filmed, only the nose thing is not so nice!
Yeah, I had a brutal case of the sniffles due to the smoke from wet conditions. I've since been able to quell them as in my following videos. Thank you so much for both comments! I see that you are new to UA-cam as well, I will head over and check your channel out. Again, sorry about the sniffles mate! :(
Subscribed.
What's the dimensions of your tarp sir?
Im debating on a 7x7 or an 8x8 oilskin for weight.
Hello, it's an 8x8 6 lbs. Good if your camp is close to a road but I hike it in 8 kilometres. So... I'm looking at the one by Lone Wolf 902 , I just don't fancy the hardware. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers

@@TheLoreofBushcraft this is an awesome looking tarp how do you think the Oxford fabric compares to canvas?? Wish it wasn't a Lonewolf tarp 😆
@@Canadian_Craftsman Hello, I am unfamiliar with Oxford cloth, save for dress shirts. Are you referring to Oil Cloth? If so, I'm presently using my 3x3 TentSmiths oil cloth tarp (you've seen in my recent adventures) it only weighs 2kgs and it works perfectly for my expeditions.
I don't use Canvas because it not as water resistant, unless it's waxed , but then it's too heavy!
Bushcraft Spain has nice Tarps, and so does PNW Bushcraft via bespoke. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers Craftsman!
@@TheLoreofBushcraft oh the oxford fabric is the wolf den tarp which is why its so lightweight, I've been considering the oilcloth but I don't like the weight compared to the oxford fabric just not sure of durability compared next to a camp fire!! Thanks again for the speedy response brotha!!(=
@@Canadian_Craftsman yeah, I ended up not purchasing the Lonewolf so I didn't have it to compare. Oilcloth, or any cloth is flammable.
Burning Pine and or most Conifers have all that resin in them which pops as you must have experience.
That's why some people prefer hardwoods for fire.
I just burnt a hole in my Tarp the other day and had to repair.
I consistently get burns on my clothing and my kit, that's why I bring a repair kit with me.
If you're messing with fire you're bound to get burnt as saying goes.
Great video . Fascinating stuff. P2 tomorrow i think 👌🏕
