  • 📖 - Video Description:
    In this video I’ll show you how to plant in a bare bottom aquarium ...
    I always had sand in the aquarium, but I decided that I wanted to take it off and keep the bottom bare. However, I really like having the aquarium with plants and it becomes difficult to have plants without being anubic, bucephalandras, ferns, etc ...
    In this way, I created this method of planting that has given very good results and thus, I can have the aquarium planted as much as I like ...

    This is a great idea for messy fish like discus. Easy to clean the bottom of uneaten food while also still maintaining a beautiful planted aquarium. A couple questions, what temperature do you keep your aquarium for the discus? What fertilizers do you use and how often? Thank you for sharing this layout!

      Thank you very much for the comment, Philip !!!
      Comments like this give encouragement to someone like me, who only has this channel and aquariums as a hobby, to continue.
      I usually have the aquarium at 29º C (84º F). When I do any treatment, I gradually go up to 30 ° C (86 ° F).
      I use seachem flourish fertilizer once a week, usually on Saturdays.

    • @philcarlino6942
      @philcarlino6942 3 роки тому +1

      @@PSKaqua Thank you for the reply and it's good to know. i've heard good things about seachem products. I dose Estimative Index developed by Tom Barr, but only dose once a week (micronutrients on monday/macros tuesday) since I run low tech tanks. Dosing dry fertilizers is much cheaper on the budget compared to liquid ferts. I wish you all the best with your channel, do what makes you happy not what people want and your channel will grow more naturally. Take care!

      @@nazeemameen1253 1) The beach stones usually increase the PH… depending on the fauna, this could be good. But if it's for fish that like more acidic water, it's not recommended.

      I had this layout and with this technique in use for about 6 months. The only problem I felt was that I may have over-turned the rubber band and as the plants grew they were choked. But putting fewer plants per sock you won't have a problem.
      As for the deterioration of the sock and the elastic, there was nothing to point out.

      The soil I didn't change it. What I did, was in two months I put in another capsule of fertilizer, but I haven't had more than 8 months with this layout either. One tip, is not to put too many plants in the sock and not to tighten the elastic too much.

    this aquascaping construction technique is directly linked with kokedama plants... with a high diversity of plants, low tech balance is lost. in aquascaping aquariums, fish are secondary elements. in order to maintain balance. DISCUS are the kings of the aquarium, plants are less needed.

      @PSKaqua  3 роки тому +1

      @@nazeemameen1253 I don't know what kind of brands are in your area, but NEO's substrate is good and not as expensive as ADA's.
      The sand, any sand, serves this purpose. Some use pool filter sand that has a good grain size.

      @@PSKaquaThank you for that. If we use the 'sock technique' with ADA Amazonia, will it still leach the same amount ammonia into the water like it does when it has direct contact with water?

    • @PSKaqua
      @PSKaqua  3 роки тому +1

      @@nazeemameen1253 It will probably release some. However, we have to consider that the amount of soil that is in the sock is not much.

    Is it hard to manage parameters with bare bottom tanks?

      Personally I think the plants will make it a lot easier to maintain parameters.

      Hello my friend!!!
      Sorry for the huge delay in responding. I've been a bit away from social media and the PSK aqua project, but I'm slowly making a comeback.
      In response to your comment, which I thank you very much for, there is no difficulty at all in maintaining the parameters with a bare bottom aquarium. There is no influence at all.

    how do you pp bath them?

    • @PSKaqua
      @PSKaqua  3 місяці тому +1

      Hello my friend!!!
      As I understand it, you want to disinfect the aquarium.
      If you want to do it to the fish, I won't tell you how to do it, as it could be dangerous for the animals if done incorrectly.
      To disinfect an empty aquarium (without fish or decorations), you should mix 1 gram of PP per 10 liters of water. The water will turn purple at first until it is almost brown, meaning that the effect of the PP is over.
      Remember to use gloves, a mask and goggles when working with PP. It is a toxic and irritating substance.

    If you tied the plant way above the root, the new growing leaf cannot sprout !

      Hello my friend!!!
      Yes, that's true... however, although when you put the root inside the sock it looks like the root is very deep, it is not very tight and when it is in the water it tends to float, coming out slightly. But of course not all the shoots will come out.

      @@BezzBerry-xb3fx Yes, metronidazole is good for that. But you need a doctor's prescription for metronidazole, that's the annoying thing. Have you tried explaining what you want it for at the pharmacy? They might make it easier.
      If you can't, try Octocil from Manaus. It's used to treat hexamita, Spironucleus and other intestinal flagellates.
