- 6 IMPRESSIVE EDC fixed blades that Deliver! Initial Thoughts. I have really begun to love the idea of carrying a compact fixed blade for my edc. I usually like them small enough that I can clip them in my pocket or light enough that I don't even feel it on my belt. There are so many awesome fixed blade companies out there and I am trying to find the best edc fixed blade from each one of them. This video has six new ones and they are all really good. Are you into edc fixed blades if so which one is your favorite from this video?

With some things, giving the price on UA-cam is a "no no" because (I have no idea why) they are 10x deadlier if we are told what the price is 😅
The notch on the Boker makari is there because all of the original kukris that were made them in it. I heard different reasons for it being there but the one i believe is the weight from the front being so heavy that it allows for flexing in the blade and relieves stress

Love the blade shape of that Schwarz. My current favorite edc is a Kizer Lieb because of the similar shape.

Have you seen the mikri? Slightly bigger version of the makri, cant find any reviews on it though
The notch on the Boker Makri is a nod to the Kukri. Lots of theories, but no one knows the true purpose
That little notch on the Böker mini khukuri is a nod to the cho, a traditional notch in the ricasso area of khukuris. There's all kind of speculation as to their origins, symbolism & possible function, but no hard & fast proof or consensus, at least in the online circles I've frequented.

@@lonetrader1 That's one of the many theories about the cho's design. I've also heard it compared to a trisul/trident or a... ummm, lingam.
Like all of them except for the one with no handle scales. The one you've been testing is my favorite. I love the blade shape it kinda reminds me of my Griptilion. Good review, thanks for the content.

I got the Spyderco Street Beat w _micarta handle;_ front-pocket carry.

They discontinued the micarta handle model.
Some states have peculiar knife laws. For example, WA prohibits the concealed carry of fixed blade models. They must be open to view, as in hanging off your belt. Something the cops can use to jam you up in a pinch.

I believe that little notch on the blade of the kukri is meant to replicate the notch found on a full size kukri. Only reason I know that is I have an old full size hanging on my wall. It is meant to represent a cow's hoof and has some type of religious significance. Either that or it is a wire stripper😂

@@Stassa23it’s a blood drip. The blood start to drip from there to avoid it to get on your hand and make it loose your grip on the handle.

What's the overall length of the BGM with blue handle?
For the kydex issue on the kukri, have you tried heating up woth a lighter the upper lip if the sheath and bending it out with the your finger? I think that would solve the pushoff issue.

*I keep my balisong on me for my EDC,... always good to have a Knife on you for emergencies and Security. I have my Maxace Pelican M but that's my grail considering it's durability so I keep it at home and EDC my Maxace Obsidian Spearpoint for more reach cause it's a longer blade and its more of a Flipper so it's quicker to draw when I need it❤!*
Civivi Propugnator is a bigger version of the overland and i love it.

Yep, I am really impressed with the Overland full-size. I just received mine a couple weeks ago. As far as lead-time my Overland was at my door within three weeks of ordering from TJ. I am so tempted to order the sport after seeing yours, real nice blade.

Vero dropped the ball on that fixed blade release.. hmm 🤔 or they didn't and are trying to get people hype to buy a mini version. Its way too big at over 8“ for a pocket fixie. I carry the Suprlativ Hella or one of the ones I made

The kukri bokker that little notch that you were curious about is called a Spanish notch. The large versions have 2 that almost forms a heart shape.

The scalper looking one is very impressive and it may be more useful than initially expected. One can reasonably use it for field preventive surgery; removal of dead flesh or skin tissue; working fine details on leather; removal of thorns; shaving off old foot corns; and even finishing pedicures jobs on corners of big toes. I will get me one for sure.
Really like the BGM knives, I also have a Spade and I love it. I actually EDC his Pike model, and the Ulti-clip's are amazing for carrying it. I have a custom on order too from BGM, can't wait! When you say you clip it to your pocket, are you clipping the knife to like a straight pocket or an angled pocket? I have carrying mine clipped inside the waistband.
I live that overland sport I’ve been wanting to get the perpetua TJ did with mass drop but live the confidante and overland er but that sport with the ultimate clip I can swim work fish be in and out of boat in trunks easy! Keep up the awesome work

I’ve been wanting a BGM… His Mini Kephart has really nice proportions (but probably less slicey than the Spade). Love the acid stonewash as well.

Yes, the 3.3 Ulti fits on the Axon sheath perfectly.
Yep I put mine on after the video, I ordered 10 of the 3.3 and 5 of the 2’s because I was swapping them every time I wanted it on a different knife to carry it so now I can just install them on my favorite one I rotate the most 👍🍻🍻
The overland sport one can you get an attachment to carry horizontal on your belt?

I can say the one that blew me away was the overland sport especially testing it side by side with the MKC Speedgoat both in Magnacut 👍

Awesome stuff! I contacted BGM last year, but didn't want to pull the trigger on a custom knife at the time. I'm glad I didn't, I had no idea what I wanted then. I have a much better idea now and would be able to tell him better what I want.

That first fixed blade was awesome. Love that overland too 🇺🇸. Definitely want a BGM knife and regrind sometime. That last 3 finger BGM model is where it’s at for EDC.

If I cant get 4 finger grip on a knife then its a nono for me whatever the steel is. The knife is a tool first and if i cant use that tool with cofidrnce that fuck it.
I’ve never had an issue with them as long as they fill out my hand and for me these are all excellent but if they don’t work for you that’s cool also 👍🍻🍻

My only complaint with the shwrats is that theres no bolster between the blade and the users hands; I prefer those like the esee izula where theres hand guard of sorts. Otherwise i have no major complats.
