This was hysterical! Thank you for the “education” but most importantly, the fun! I can only imagine the 3 of you attempting to negotiate your way out of that bar. Thanks for brightening my gloomy Saturday, and I will have “une coupe de champagne” with Colleen. Merci!
I like their camaraderie, but I don’t drink. So I wouldn’t care to see more of this. It helped me more when she said what the waiter will ask u upon arriving at the restaurant.
My two cents : when you eat a sugar with alcool it's called "un canard" (a duck). But absinthe used to be served in a glass then water pass through the sugar with a special spoon. Calvados is also drunk with coffee, the famous "Café-calva".
Even for a french who doesn't drink alcool, your opinions on our aperitifs is very interesting ! I subscribed to your channel : thank you to share our culture, food and drinks !!! Merci !
LOL!! Your facial expressions say it all! This was really fun to watch and it appears you enjoyed it quite well. To serve of absinthe correctly, pour the absinthe in a glass. Place a sugar cube on your absinthe spoon if you have one or a slotted spoon over the glass and slowly pour ice-cold water over the sugar cube. Let the water slowly drip over the sugar cube for it to dissolve in your glass of absinthe. You should have approximately three to four parts of water per one part absinthe. Your drink will change color from green to a light yellow-green. Stir and Enjoy!
I've loved all your videos, but this one with Colleen surrounded by the brothers enjoying the lovely French aperitifs is super fun. I'm definitely booking a Vincent tour next visit!
Another really great video. Thank you. Of course, as well as Champagne, many French people drink "Cremant" (de Loire, de Bourgogne") as an aperitif. Cremant is made in the same way as Champagne, but can't be called Champagne because it's not made in the Champagne region. I love it! You're right about Calvados. It's more often drunk as a digestif rather than an a aperitif. Loved your reactions to Absinthe. It's very much an acquired taste, but should be tasted at least once in life. 😇I like it!
On cider, a small warning for our overseas friends. Here in France, "Cidre" is always alcoholic with a alcohol content usually between 3% and 6%. If you want non-alcoholic sparkling cider, you should instead ask if they have some "jus de pomme pétillant".
Hard cider is so popular here now that a restaurant server might assume you mean the alcoholic version. At least, that’s how it is on the west coast. Cider is a great alternative for people who don’t like the taste of beer. I like the drier English style ones, which I think is the one Colleen didn’t like.
@@letarogers6380 That's interesting! I didn't know that hard cider was popular in the US. As a french fan of cider, I've only heard that the definition of the word was distinct between France and the US, and I didn't want someone visiting to get surprised by the difference.

Bonjour Antoine and Colleen . I learned about the Aperol spritz on your Eiffel Tower video. On our last cruise that became my go to before dinner drink. The bartender appreciated my “sophistication “. Now I have new horizons to conquer. Merci all😊🥂🍷🍾🥂
This did make me lol. Was just playing with the idea of a paris trip, from the UK. Thanks so much for your video's, great info and love the idea of a food tour ❤
Since we left Paris three weeks ago, I tried to stop watching your videos. It made me sad as I wasn't there anymore 😢. But oh how I've missed you! This video made me laugh out loud as the mix of different drinks made you tipsy and soooo funny. Can't wait to get back there 😘
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! We have everything in this video at home except for beer and cidre. We always get brute cidre from Bretagne when we stay in the South. In addition, when were in the South every summer and out and about in the intense heat, a Pastis is the most reflective beverage of all time. Because I can’t hold liquor, my limit is one. My summer go to at home os Aperol Spritz but with champagne. Now that autumn is here, our weekend aperitif is the Kir Royal. I cook a lot with Calvados and on our home it’s more used after dinner. I’m so happy that you are normalizing champagne-we always have a case in our garage and in our home it is used regularly. My apologies if I sound like a lush bit we have aperitifs only on the weekends at home but every night in France! Lol!
I love pastis. I even learned to like non-alcoholic pastis such as Pacific. Unfortunately, it is not available where I live. Our first experience with Calvados was not smooth. As the evening went on the bartender kept bringing us more of their special, homemade Calva from the depths of their cellar. Very memorable. I find it very enjoyable, too. I agree that Cassis is a nice addition to white wine and champagne. This was a very enjoyable episode. I was getting tipsy just watching. Thanks for sharing.🍾 🍹 🍷♥

Absolutely loved this video. We enjoy our cocktails now looking forward to try something different.Vincents food and wine tour sounds like something we may do when we come over New Years. Merci for your great videos.
I was watching the video today and saw the Absinthe bit. I had never heard of someone dipping a sugarcube in it and eating it, honestly I thought someone set you up with that as a joke. The idea of the sugar cube was to put it on a slotted "spoon" that looks more like a cheese knife and have that sit across the rim of you glass over the Absinthe. It was 68 proof because then you drip ice water on to the sugar dissolving it into your glass and mellowing out your drink. The drink then turns a light minty green often referred to as "The Green Fairy". Please make an amended video with that version, you will see a difference.
That video was good fun. Perhaps it was the booze 🥴 but I believe they were pronouncing Absinthe incorrectly. It is not A-bi-sinthe, it’s Ab-sinthe. … correct?

3:00 The kir bears the name of Canon Felix KIR, the lord mayor of Dijon after WWII. For official receptions where champagne was usually served, he thought it wiser to serve a local drink called _un blanc-cassis_ instead. It is a dollop of black currant liquor with a glass of white wine, both produced in Burgundy.
when i was a steudent , i made my overseas friends to taste the chartreuse ( mde by monks), well, they appreciated it....and slept on the floor after that.
OMG I love your videos! This one had me scratching my head a bit. A white wine kir is my go to apéro and I wouldn't consider the cassis a "syrup". You can definitely add less to make the kir less sweet. And I have to say I have never seen anyone drink Absinthe like that LOL! You don't pour the Absinthe on the sugar cube then eat it! You are supposed to have water drip over the sugar, slowly dissolving it into the drink. Then you also add water (like with Pastis) to your liking. But it looked like you all were having a blast!!

Yet another hilarious, giggeling, light hearted but informative tasting. Loved it! Tbc with Noilly Prat (french Dry Martini style Vermouth) or Muscat (natural sweet wine, served ice-cold), not to forget the numerous digèstifs, like les eaux-de-vie d'Alsace. 😊
Lots of fun. Spent 6 days riding my bike around Normandy before riding to the Cote d'Azur over the next few weeks. I absolutely loved Normandy Cider and Calvados. So many different tastes - just like wine. I made a vow not to have wine until I hit the Loire Valley. Once out of Normandy, most Brasseries and Cafes did not have cider, so I'm glad that I kept my vow. Cider and Gallettes or Moules Frites were heavenly combos, and apple sorbet with Calvados (le trou Normand) was amazing. Of course, I sampled lots of wines during the rest of my ride across France. Eating well, drinking nice wine as local as possible, having two desserts and eating local cheeses worked well for the rest of the voyage. My favourite part of France was always the part that I was in at the time. Each place was rich in it's own way and it's not even worth comparing. Thanks for bringing back memories.
Thanks for your recommendation of Drinks and Company. We were in Paris and staying close to the St. Lazare Station. We decided to go in and try some cocktails. The mixologist was fantastic! We tried 2 cocktails each off the menu and then had her mix us her own creations. All of the drinks were fabulous! Would totally recommend this place. On a Tuesday this place was happening. Line up to get in after 6 pm.

Yet another hilarious, giggeling, light hearted but informative tasting. Loved it! Tbc with Noilly Prat (french Dry Martini style Vermouth) or Muscat (natural sweet wine, served ice-cold), not to forget the numerous digèstifs, like les eaux-de-vie d'Alsace. 😊
Thank you for sharing this video
Loved this!
So much fun!!!❤ Happy Birthday Antoine. Best UA-camrs.😊
