I don't care if it takes hours. I want my perfect curves. Thanks for the tutorial! Something I do when freeform placing rails in curves is to aim for one particular rock that appears ever so often in the center of the gravel, then click place as close to the center of that rock as I can. It is just short enough of a distance between the rock's occurrence for one to place the rails near their full length.
The only person I've seen so far that does the final "ballast back fill" to stabilize the ties (sleepers). I figure there are a lot of people playing this game that have never actually seen a real railroad track to know they don't sit on top of the bed.
@6:55 best tip ever! I sure wish I watched this prior. Just got the game, working on first track that goes to logging. This is great! Not sure I've seen this in any other video! One might think that laying track the most realistic way would be the default ;)
Added your tutorial on this to my steam page for others to find a quick link to it to make it easier for others to get help quickly with their track laying thanks for the video. Liked the back fill track laying with the ties much more natural yes
on that last groundwork trick, if you notice you can move forward/backward from the link and the arrow will rise/fall, this will give you the ability to adjust the profile of how much the ties are sunk into the groundwork also.
OMG thank you for this information since I now see many of the mistakes I made in laying out my track and it would explain why my little beginner train is the derailing in a certain spots. Also you picked up another subscriber since I am going to watch work more often and thank you for doing this and have a great year.
yea i use that, the problem is my video card now is very dated and have to cap it at 30 fps when recording other wise i loose frames and during that time Hitfilm express also had a bug with its encorder, so i had to downgrade it a few version
Love it. Would love to know how you work out your first bit of track when say going from the freight yard to the lumber mill. As it took me ages to figure out how to get to the right side of the lumber yard with the track. Is there any tricks I am missing?
way ive done it is i use one track to plan out the route then i plan out the others. lumberyard took me 10hrs, ill stream on youtube tonight even tho im not really setup for it as im still transitioning over from twitch and show what iv have done, spent over 100hrs just laying tracks to 3 locations depot, lumberyard and sawmill
it will be really painful to play it on console, or maybe it'll be amazing, one thing i can promise is the first person might be a pain, cause you need fine movements to grab certain things
Thank So much your videos have saved me a whole lot of frustration and time! Do you know what is the difference between variable and constant grade as well as variable stone wall and constant stone wall? I can’t seem to see any difference between them?
constant means it applies to all that are linked to your placement and the one your placing and variable is that it only effects the one your about to place
You can always start fresh with a clean game too. Have you scouted out the other buildings too and how you would get to that building? AL:so I tip that I saw in a video is to put foliage on LOW setting. Helps in laying track to see the elevations.
thank you, yea i do im a freelance game developer :) and thank you for being a paid subscriber, youtube didn't even tell me. Didn't even know that was a think and i feel bad cause iv been really sick

@@Mr_Tea_Rexx No problem thanks for making a nice quick and easy tutorial for everyone!
@@daveb.4383 got another one coming out soon taking a bit to edit
Cool intro and nice tips!
tried my best to use all the tricks i know from playing the game that id like to share with the railroads online community
on that last groundwork trick, if you notice you can move forward/backward from the link and the arrow will rise/fall, this will give you the ability to adjust the profile of how much the ties are sunk into the groundwork also.
Dude, this is a lifesaver
wow, the last trick looks more realism. 👍

Very nicely done. Exactly the tutorials I was looking for. One Request: Please add a 1080p version, you can use free software to get it :D
I recommend OBS. Both pros and noobs use it.

Awesome, but is there a way to make a gradient with the curves?
yes that is tutorial 3

@@Mr_Tea_Rexx would be helpful. As I never get the track right at the lumber yard and end up derailing.
actually, the cookie monster can survive a 40% curve. but i have not checked the same with the big boy hauler; the class 70.
if you do check them let me know
I needed this video! Thank you.
Do you show in one of the videos how you do parallel curves?
tutorial 3
If this game comes to console I’ll buy it. Looks awesome.

I used these tip to build less sketchy track

Oh, well, thanks for great tutorial but I now have a ton of work to correct :D

bridges are kicking my ass
working on a tutorial for it
Whenever I use the alt key, my left click doesn't work
make sure the arrow is near the center of the track, its a issue with their track placement
This is (insert positive, constructive superlative here)
I really hope you have an education career
